You messed up navigation.

I used to be able to tap on the top and immediately type a new location. Now it brings up a list for me to scroll through. This is what most free Bible apps do. I haven't spent thousands for free app lookalike functionality. Yes I can now click the search icon instead but this doesn't automatically pull up the keyboard and I have to tap the input field for the keyboard to pop up so I can type. It's aggravating when an update causes extra time to be spent for no good reason.

@Micah Gafford – the keyboard should automatically come up when you tap the search button. We'll get that fixed.0

Agree. Go back to direct text entry. Replace the search magnifying glass with '...' to bring-up the recent history screen.0

I’m to the point where I’m just not using the app. I’ll use it on my laptop but I increasingly turning into something else on my mobile devices.0

I have to agree with this comment. The first time I saw this change a big 'Ugh!' came out of my mouth. Was this a requested feature? I'm trying to 'un-train' my brain from clicking in the verse box but it's not working. If anything, switch the two functions - use the Search icon for bringing up the books, chapters, etc. and leave the verse box for typing. Or better yet - put it back the way it was. This change makes me really gun-shy to blindly take updates to the mobile app.0

I'd be fine completely removing the bible button altogether. I never use the reference page at all as it is much , much , MUCH slower than just typing in a few letters and the reference. Scanning a matrix of 66 buttons , followed by tens or even a hundred or more buttons for the chapter , then again tens or a hundred or more buttons for the verse is painfully slow compared with typing 5-10 characters to go directly where I need to go. The reference page is PAINFULLY slow.0

Just wanted to voice a different opinion, I for one liked the change. I use the navigation all the time, and the old hamburger menu was really hard to tap on at times. While I can understand some don't like the wrong semantic of what appears to be a text bar being a button (that should be fixed) I do like the fact that making the touch target much bigger makes it a lot more convenient to navigate. Not only for the bible, but all books, where typing is not as useful.
There could be a compromise here, by making the bar text input, but sharing the space with a larger button for navigation for those that prefer that method.0 -
Yeah, this was a bad change. The old way is better0

100% agree with the OP. The new method is so much less efficient than the original way, typing the book or book, abbreviation, chapter and verse.0

@Wayne Rehnborg The block format is still available. Please tap on "Verse" at the top of that screen. You are seeing the list form because you are under the "Contents" tab.
