More Robust Sermon Builder

I still write all my sermons in Word because the Sermon Builder is not full-featured enough. The number one thing I need from it is more advanced outlining. I need to be able to change from Roman Numerals to letters to numbers so that multi-level outlines are more functional. This would include customizing the levels, the indentation, the formatting, the ability to span sections with a single outline (i.e. continue numbering). I'd also love to see these additions to the sermon builder:
- Change fonts and text size options more specifically
- Change paragraphing and indents
- Ability to highlight a portion of text and drag it to a different spot in the document to move text around.
- Support for superscript (verse numbers)
- Built-in thesaurus
- Auto-format lists and outlines
- view a ruler with margins and indents

  • And the ability to align vertically text to be either top, middle, or bottom. I wish I could start it at top instead of it only working from middle.
  • I use Sermon Builder, and I like Sermon Builder, but I do wish it had more features like a word processor. Every improvement to Sermon Builder, even small ones are noticed.

I also can't use the sermon builder anymore because its text editor is very bad/weak. I prefer to use Microsoft Word because I have more formatting options.

My only addition to these comments - other than yes! Is it possible to use something like Markdown (which has numerous open-source editors) to combine easy basic formatting, advanced formatting (via HTML tags), and source manipulation? I realize that concepts embedded in the Logos sermons (e.g., paragraph links to slides, paragraph links to copied references, etc.) would have to be dealt with. Overridden/custom XHTML tags could handle these. It could be possible to implement all the great features you have built in while taking advantage of the work of other programmers (speaking from one software developer to another).

I want to write a sermon in outline form like an outline. Intro , I. A. 1. II , etc... Like I do in Sermonary or Pages. I understand the concept in LOGOS > Proclaim > etc... It is too cluncky.

I agree with Nathanael on this. I find the outline functionality (or rather the lack thereof) of the Sermon Builder to be limiting and frustrating to use. Having better numbering/outline support and customization is essential. I would like to be able to define custom advanced outline formats as well. Example, Level 1 Number, Level 2 Alpha Character, Level Bullet or whatever variation a given sermon might need. Thank you!
