At this time if you want to add a new notebook, you press the "plus" icon on the notebooks tab.
On that line you have the following: "Notebooks," plus icon, search icon.
I think that is the only place you will find the option to create a new notebookt. And, if you have pressed the search icon, "Notebooks" and the plus icon go away to be replace by the search window . . . until you press the search icon again.
1. Please put the option to create a new notebook in the Docs menu, where it used to be.
2. On the Notebooks tab, please put the plus icon (for creating a new notebook) in a place where it will never, EVER go away. E.g. on the row above to the right of the filter icon and the notebook icon.
3. Another option: If the search button has been activated, make the first item you see (in the list of notebook) the option to create a new notebook for those cases that your search comes up empty and you need to created a new notebook.

I had just used the search icon to look for a notebook that I thought I had created. I didn't find it so I needed to create it. Little did I know that I had to click the search button again to see the option to create a new notebook. I spent about fifteen minutes looking, first the logos help where I found only "Use the Notebooks tab to create new notebooks or access existing notebooks along with their associated notes", then the community forums. On the community forums I found that I was not the only one spinning their wheels on this issue. Thanks!
