Foreground/Background dropdown in Notes to function like Highlights Menu

Currently, if I want to add a highlight or background to a different word or sentence, the dropdown menu shuts down for the current selection and then reopens for the new selection. Can the Foreground/Background Dropdown formatting feature remain open in the same way that the Highlighting menu does?
