Once upon a time, It only took a few moments to open the app … for a few weeks now, it takes so long to get it to open.
OK. Here is what I did after many trials and errors… I reformatted my laptop (I was lucky that even tho I did not follow instructions 100%, I still ended up with a Mac as I got it fresh from factory (I backed all of my files and apps first)… Ever since the procedure and after getting rid of a lot of garbage files and apps, LOGOS now opens at max 7 seconds… So, Praise God for that!
Thanks for the feedbacks and all! 😎
Well, it’s not normal for me. Since the update to 40xx, my Logos has slowed down dramatically, not only in starting up but also in using the app generally. I even got a dreaded ‘not responding’ message recently; I was mind blown but not in a good way.
Assuming you are on a Mac, the speed has dramatically improved with version 41. It is back to normal speed.
I'm on a Windows PC …
I have NEVER had trouble with Logos opening slowly. In the past, I can remember reading logs about different people posting that and thought, Wow! So glad that isn't happening to me! Now it is!!!! For the past 2-3 weeks, it seems like it takes forever! Probably about 30 seconds maybe? Before, it would probably open in 5 seconds…. So, there is a major difference! And I too am on a Windows PC.
Well, I'm on a Surface Pro 9, Windows 11. My Logos just opened in 5 seconds. What do you mean by "a long time"? Minutes? Maybe time it and let the group know? Anyone else care to do the test to see what happens?
In v40 and v41 there is a lag in opening. On my Windows 11, v41 takes 13 seconds, which is a looong time, I think.
As I said in my comment, it took "about 30 seconds" to open, when it use to be about 5 seconds. I just timed it "exactly," and it was about 24 seconds.
Today I decided to time Logos opening for the first time of the day. It took 45 seconds!
Jack it took 1 min 35 secs to open…. I’m not sure why, like I said it was never like that before…. Your assumption is right…
@Ed Fernandez Jack it took 1 min 35 secs to open…. I’m not sure why
At this point it might be helpful to submit logs. See the link in small print at the bottom of the post
Thank you all for the feedback! 😎
Hello… I have troubleshooted with the best of the best. … When we do, the app opens at the 6th second or so… (used to do that for me in the past)… We have tried most everything…. I deleted some favorite books to the right of the search box, I have started Logos on a blank page, I have done what people here suggested for me to do… I created a crash report and copied the code for one of the IT gurus here… I am glad you are enjoying your surface pro 9… I enjoy my Macbook air, once i a while I do not…
If it comes to this, I might reformat and recover evrything and see what happens… I do not discard it is something within my system that is causing this…
OK… Good news, I just cleaned up the start up apps I have and left up what is stricktly necesary for me. I seem to have discovered that it was not just logos lagging but other apps. so I closed and reopened 3 times today, and Loggos started after 5 secs the first time, 6 secs the secs and the third time at 4 secs! we’ll see as time goes by…
Thank you to all the IT team for the help troubleshooting and to all of you who gave me suggestions and ideas… God bless you all!

In a Windows with a hard drive, yes, it takes forever. You need an SSD to help your cause or just switch to a Mac with an SSD already included in it and at least 500 GB memory and 16 RAM, the more the faster.
Yes, much slower than before.

Build your biblical library with a new trusted commentary or resource every month. Yours to keep forever.
My Mac is running low on disk space, and it looks like the Library/Application Support/Logos4 folder is taking 20GB in /Data and 15GB in /Documents. I'm guessing that one of those is my library and the other is my notes and highlights. Is there a way to see the size of all the things in my library so I can get rid of those…

In Notes, when I type a full Scripture reference, it automatically turns it into a clickable link. Can you also add the feature to take, for example, v. 10 or vv. 10-15 and turn that into a clickable link? You can key off the book, chapter, and verse the note is attached to. If there are multiple Anchors, take the first…
Is there a way I can use Logos to format an academic research paper to a particular style and then use Logos to write the paper? I see where it lists workflows, sermon prep, etc., but what about writing papers and using copy/paste to insert verses or block quotes into them? What about citing works according to a particular…
