Feature Request: Advanced Options for Visual Filters (Dynamic Highlighting per Chapter)
Dear Logos Team,
I would like to suggest an enhancement to Visual Filters that would allow additional logical options for individual entries within a Visual Filter.
Specifically, it would be very helpful to define different highlighting behaviors based on how often a search result appears within a chapter. For example:
- First occurrence of a term in a chapter: highlight with a text marker including an explanatory note
- Second and subsequent occurrences within the same chapter: apply a different, reduced highlight (e.g., color only, without text)
Practical example:
A Visual Filter for the word “gold” (e.g., in Exodus 25):
- 1st occurrence in the chapter: yellow highlight with the note “Glory of God”
- 2nd and further occurrences: gold-colored highlight without additional text
At the beginning of the next chapter, this logic would reset, so the first occurrence is again highlighted with the explanatory note.
Benefits:
- supports learning through structured repetition and recall
- reduces visual clutter from repeated explanatory highlights
- enables more didactic and intentional Bible study directly in the text
Such a feature could potentially be implemented with conditions like “nth occurrence per chapter” or “first occurrence within scope.”
Thank you for your continued work on Logos and for considering this feature!
Kind regards,
