I don't mean to be argumentative, but "the iPad" doesn't read ANY books - only the apps can. Is there a quick and easy way to get these books you are talking about into 1) iBooks 2) Kindle reader 3) Nook Reader? These three apps download books directly from 1) Apple 2) Amazon and 3) Barnes & Noble. As far as I know, they are not interchangeable.

It is not hard to remove the DRM and use the book in the reader of your choice.  The ethical question is about legality.  Is it illegal to remove a Kindle DRM and read it in Nook for your own personal use?  That is not a simple question.  Some court decisions on music would imply that you can remove DRM legally for your own use.  Of course, you cannot legally share such files.  At any rate, it happens thousands of times a day, and the software to do it is free.

In addition there are many ebook sellers that sell books without DRM.  All the readers will read ePubs without DRM.  Just as more digital music sellers sell DRM free music, the same trend will probably happen with books.

    Michael -

Do you mean the physical kindle reader will read ePubs? I have the kindle reader for Mac and as far as I can tell there is no (supported) way to import any books other than the ones you purchase from Amazon, which are a proprietary ePub format.

PS - congrats on the Bulldogs win! [:)]
