But on top of that, my (limited) understanding is that Logos for Droid probably will not include highlighting functions anyway.
Currently anticipating Logos highlighting for Android and iOS "soon" (as a Logos user who remembers waiting many months for initial Logos application on Mac, not know what timeframe to associate with "soon").
Observation: Logos 1.5 for iOS included Logos display engine that is needed for highlighting. A year ago, Bob Pritchett (CEO) posted Coming feature: Notes and Highlighting. 1 Jan 2011 post Is Logos really “behind” in the Mobile sector? mentioned sync framework rewrite to use less bandwidth. For PC & Mac computers, Logos 4.2a new features included "Download size for updates (to existing resources) has been reduced." (positive progress indicator for sync framework).
Logos for iOS 1.6.3 Release Notes was a good incremental improvement earlier this month, but does not yet have Notes nor Highlighting. Dreaming about visual filters on mobile devices for Greek and English using Logos Greek Morphology (may need newer hardware for fast display and scrolling).
Forum http://community.logos.com/forums/p/20522/188767.aspx#188767 shows Logos announcing plans for Android on 1 Nov 2010 (about 5 months ago) that included "Coming Soon" with description like iOS application plus Android specific interfaces (as needed).
Logos Resource Reviews includes United Bible Society (UBS) Handbooks, which have become my favorite commentary so personally Thankful for Scholar's Platinum package (Gold includes UBS handbooks). Using an iPad offline, can display a Bible and UBS handbook side-by-side with adjustable split screen. Anticipate Logos Android application(s) will have split screen (eventually, may not be part of initial release). A tablet has more screen to show Logos resource text. Hence, since Logos will be my primary use for Android, waiting for Logos Android application to ship that works on tablets, then hope to purchase a good tablet.
Thankful http://Biblia.com already usable on mobile devices for reading Logos resources.

I hope that Logos will begin Android development soon and include an Android group on this forum. I think that Android has the potential to increase Logos' sales and user base.
Development has already begun. Apparently great progress has been made of late as there was at least one Twitter/tweet from the recent BibleTech conference indicating that someone had a Logos Android App to look at. That or, as I'm guessing the individual in question was one of the programmers.
Short story: it's underway.
Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.

Just to put my two penneth in...I would definitely use an Android app if it were offered...especially on a tablet device (10" preferrable).

It's nice to hear, but I think it is fair to say that the Android market is growing pretty fast with the number of Android phones out there. Sorry wouldn't by an Apple product beyond by 2nd generation iPod. It would be a good thing to open up and get it out on the Android market because there really isn't anything as good.

This being the year of the Android tablets.......Logos's timng couldn't be better for a release shortly. Hopefully by summer or fall at the latest.
I will be getting a HTC 10" Android tablet when it comes out this summer.
Please do keep us updated as soon as a beta version is about to be released.
ETA would be great also.[:)]

I understand....really I do...and If I had my way...I'd like a timeline too....but the problem is that Logos can't win no matter which way they choose to go.
When they try and guess a timeline....and they miss....people are angry.
When they learn from their mistakes and keep their timelines to themselves....people also don't like that...
They've learned that for the most part....they can't win when giving estimates....
and so they've just chosen to be quiet for the most part...once in a while they might chime in but generally, it's a lose-lose for them...

I'm in IT. I have managed large projects, and been a member in large projects.
It would completely not fly if we had a major upgrade, implementation, or development project, and we didn't give a projected delivery date. Sometimes we finish before, sometimes it is right on the deadline, sometimes it is late by a few days or weeks. This is to be expected, but no projected expectation is not acceptable.
If we look at major projects, Windows OS's, game development, upgrades or updates, these types of projects usually have a projection that is somewhat ballpark.
It seems to go to one extreme and say, "Well, they aren't happy when we miss our deadline, so we might as well just not give a deadline at all," creates chaos, confusion, and a lack of trust with current and potential customers.

After Logos experienced angry customers after showing tantalizing screen shot of Logos 4 Mac, followed by missing publicized ship date for many months; Logos has adopted public relations position like many other IT companies (and open source projects) that announce ship dates when ready for public use. Noticed Bob Pritchett's comments http://community.logos.com/forums/p/27908/207987.aspx#207987 includes: "My developers are in a constant state of frustration as I push them to ship things before they are perfect. We need each other; they push for a perfect, bug-free, performant product, and I push for something to ship so they can be paid and feed their families."
Reading forum comments on a different web site, found a diagram for "soon" timeframe (no idea when between now & end of time):
Now<--------------Very Soon--------Soon--------------->End of Time
Few days ago read Bob Pritchett's reply => http://community.logos.com/forums/p/32982/246874.aspx#246874 (appears high priority Logos application for Android platform moving from "Soon" to "Very Soon" in timeframe).Reading about Google I/O 2001, noted Android 3.1 now available for Xoom => http://androidcommunity.com/motorola-xoom-3-1-update-hitting-3g-and-wifi-models-both-already-20110511/
Estimating 4th Quarter this year: Google plans to ship "Ice Cream Sandwich" for all Android devices => http://androidcommunity.com/ice-cream-sandwich-full-google-io-details-20110510/, which should allow Logos to have one Android application for smartphones and tablets.

Actually, I would be happy with a scaled-down version that ships now and let them add more features as they are perfected.

Amen! Most Android users have been just looking for the basic reader to start and are willing to wait as features are added similar to the path the iOS app took.
