I love the idea of this application but why no free Bible with it? All I see so far are Bible notes...good ones but no actual Bible.
You can get the Lexham Bible for free. Are you talking about the desktop app or mobile app?
Off topic a bit, but Alabama, I like your new ID!
Thanks D. [:)]
When I looked (desktop), I saw a few Bibles, they were insufficient. I would NOT and will NOT use Faithlife. I'm using Christianforums.com since November 2003 and I'm satisfied with that - free to quote whichever Bible.
I want to be able to quote from:
I wish the NIV 84 stuck around forever. I love the ESV but the NIV 84 in a pinch was ok.
I am also unable to see anything besides the notes on the desktop (mac) version. All I see next to the "Choose preferred Bible" option on the home screen is a blank box. Is there any way to see the actual Bible text on Logos without purchasing an additional Bible?
Hi Colin - and welcome to the forums.
All I see next to the "Choose preferred Bible" option on the home screen is a blank box. Is there any way to see the actual Bible text on Logos without purchasing an additional Bible?
It sounds like you haven't purchased any Bibles within Logos. Is that correct?
If so, you can get the Lexham English Bible for free but the ESV itself is $10. See https://www.logos.com/products/search?Resource+Type=Bibles&start=15&sort=pricelo&pageSize=15 for a list of available Bibles sorted by price.
If I have misunderstood what you are asking please clarify
Thanks, Graham
Hi Colin, welcome to the Logos user forums!
I assume you have the free L4 engine installed? You need to "buy" the bibles you want, see: http://www.logos.com/products/search?q=bible&Resource+Type=Bibles&sort=pricelo&pageSize=15&Language=English
The free Lexham bible is here: http://www.logos.com/product/6162/lexham-english-bible
1609/1582 Douay-Rheims with spelling errors corrected;
Spelling errors? Or just a modern type set? [Yes, the 'vvas' below are 'v' 'v' 'a' 's'] [used ‘ƒ’ for long s, the one that looks like a slanted ‘f’]
In the beginning vvas the Word, and the Word vvas vvith God, and God vvas the Word. This vvas in the beginning vvith God. Al things vvere made by him: and vvithout him vvas made nothing. That vvhich vvas made, in him vvas life, and the life vvas the light of men: and the light ƒhineth in darkeneƒƒe, and the darkeneƒƒe did not comprehend it.
Did you notice that this is NOT in the English Bible Collection? [have been asking for this one for years]
Yes, I meant spelling errors, it can be bought within the U.S. as printed matter leather bound from lulu.com However I live on the other side of the pond and can't order it as printed matter:
1609/1582 Douay-Rheims with spelling errors corrected; Spelling errors? Or just a modern type set?
Yes:
It just came back to Logos, albeit in anglicised spelling: http://www.logos.com/product/29979/the-holy-bible-new-international-version-anglicised
EDIT: However, the FSB feature of adapting the notes to the bible text will work only for NIV 2011 (and five others, such as KJV, ESV, LEB).
