Why doesnt a decent Bible come with this app?
I love the idea of this application but why no free Bible with it? All I see so far are Bible notes...good ones but no actual Bible.

Off topic a bit, but Alabama, I like your new ID!

When I looked (desktop), I saw a few Bibles, they were insufficient. I would NOT and will NOT use Faithlife. I'm using Christianforums.com since November 2003 and I'm satisfied with that - free to quote whichever Bible.
I want to be able to quote from:
- These that are not (yet) in Logos: 1989 REB (coming soon to Logos, a Discussion thread about it: http://www.christianforums.com/t7653202/ ); the forthcoming new translation of the NT to replace the 1986 NABRE NT; 2009 Catholic Public Domain Version (for example Mt 1:18-16:1); 1941-1961 Confraternity Version; 1609/1582 Douay-Rheims with spelling errors corrected; 1866 Common English Version New Testament (coming to Logos: English Bible Collection (27 vols.)); 1966 Jerusalem Bible Reader's edition or the similar 1975 Bible In Order (thread to suggest it: Jerusalem Bible or 1975 Bible In Order); and occasionally from the 1971 Good News Bible 3rd ed. and J. B. Phillips NT (for example parts of 1 Jn 4).
- These that are in Logos: 2010 NABRE OT; 1970 NAB (Isaiah 7:14); 1992 Good News Translation; 2005 or newer NET; 1995 NASU; 1989 NRSV; Lexham English Bible.

I wish the NIV 84 stuck around forever. I love the ESV but the NIV 84 in a pinch was ok.

I am also unable to see anything besides the notes on the desktop (mac) version. All I see next to the "Choose preferred Bible" option on the home screen is a blank box. Is there any way to see the actual Bible text on Logos without purchasing an additional Bible?

Hi Colin - and welcome to the forums.

It sounds like you haven't purchased any Bibles within Logos. Is that correct?
If so, you can get the Lexham English Bible for free but the ESV itself is $10. See https://www.logos.com/products/search?Resource+Type=Bibles&start=15&sort=pricelo&pageSize=15 for a list of available Bibles sorted by price.
If I have misunderstood what you are asking please clarify
Thanks, Graham

Hi Colin, welcome to the Logos user forums!
I assume you have the free L4 engine installed? You need to "buy" the bibles you want, see: http://www.logos.com/products/search?q=bible&Resource+Type=Bibles&sort=pricelo&pageSize=15&Language=English
The free Lexham bible is here: http://www.logos.com/product/6162/lexham-english-bible

Spelling errors? Or just a modern type set? [Yes, the 'vvas' below are 'v' 'v' 'a' 's'] [used ‘ƒ’ for long s, the one that looks like a slanted ‘f’]
In the beginning vvas the Word, and the Word vvas vvith God, and God vvas the Word. This vvas in the beginning vvith God. Al things vvere made by him: and vvithout him vvas made nothing. That vvhich vvas made, in him vvas life, and the life vvas the light of men: and the light ƒhineth in darkeneƒƒe, and the darkeneƒƒe did not comprehend it.
Did you notice that this is NOT in the English Bible Collection? [have been asking for this one for years]

Yes, I meant spelling errors, it can be bought within the U.S. as printed matter leather bound from lulu.com However I live on the other side of the pond and can't order it as printed matter:

It just came back to Logos, albeit in anglicised spelling: http://www.logos.com/product/29979/the-holy-bible-new-international-version-anglicised
EDIT: However, the FSB feature of adapting the notes to the bible text will work only for NIV 2011 (and five others, such as KJV, ESV, LEB).

There are at least two versions available from that source in hard copy. One is a facsimile format and the other is a transliteration called the original and true Douay and Rheims - shipping would be very high. big box and heavy - like shipping 5 reams of paper [500 sheets to a ream]
you could try to Google Douay Rheims Bible facsimile
The hit that says “To my knowledge, this is the largest facsimile” maybe the one you want – is the site of the facsimile - has links to the transliteration one. Both available on CD [[pdf files]]

I don't want a facsimile. The Bible I was thinking about is not a bulky one. I don't have time to check the lulu site right now, have to study Maths for a test Wednesday evening. The one I saw was one-volume $30:

There is a “”Douay Rheims” available in Logos see:
http://www.logos.com/product/5202/douay-rheims-bible
And the title page says: The Old Testament was first published by the English College at Douay, a.d. 1609 and The New Testament was first published by the English College at Rheims, a.d. 1582 [The Holy Bible, Translated from the Latin Vulgate] It lies; It is a Challoner version 1749 or so. [not sure what publishing date was used by Logos]
Check out Matthew Chapter 2 Verse 1: If it says King Herod and wise men it is a Challoner version The 1582 version says Herod the King and sages
When Jesus therefore was born in Bethlehem of Juda, in the days of king Herod, behold, there came wise men from the East to Jerusalem, Challoner Version
WHEN JESUS therefore was *born in Bethlehem of Juda in the days of Herod the King, behold, there came Sages from the East to Jerusalem, 1582 Version
All of the one volume copies that I have seen are Challoner Versions - the 1582 sets are 4 and 5 volumes - all of the title pages that I have seen list 1609 & 1582
I have a facsimile PDF of the 1582 it is in Old English [v v is w] [I is J] the f with out a cross bar is a long s [what looks like Eaft is East]

Edit: Best on the test. and watch as some of the single volume are not the complete Bible. Just keep your eyes open and ask questions before buying.
