BUG: Orange Highlighter Is Now Dull Brown 8.9 beta 3
With yesterday's update the natural orange highlighter, which used to be a bright orange, is now a dull brown. Is anyone else seeing this?
PLEASE change it back. Orange is my primary highlighting color in Logos.

Sorry, David, this was an intentional change. We updated the color scheme for notes and highlights when we rolled out the Notes tool, and while the color changes were applied to resource markup on the web app, it was overlooked in the Logos 8 desktop styling refresh. We are making this change to unify colors across all platforms (coming soon to mobile).
I hope it won't be too distracting after you had a little time to acclimate. =/

Why can’t we pick our own colors?

Oh my that's not good. Change it back PLEASE or don't call it orange because that is not orange. This is really disappointing and seems like it is making a change for the sake of making a change. That was literally my go-to color for highlighting as orange highlighters are also my go to physical highlighter. Really disappointed.Sorry, David, this was an intentional change. I do not/will not like the new color. Why must we have drab? This looks like someone hated color:
Only the red squares look like real colors. Must highlights look like colors for a funeral home?
YES! You are right, the orange is now the actual color of drab!I hope it won't be too distracting after you had a little time to acclimate. =/I do not/will not like the new color. Why must we have drab? This looks like someone hated color:

My color orange is still very "orangy"!
Yes, it is dependent on (a) your screen (b) your settings (c) your eyesight ... if you have ever designed a web based system to be usable for color-blind and low-vision users as well as the "visually ideal users" you'd have a great deal of sympathy for the interface designers.

I remember conversations on the forums from the Logos 4 era about highlighting colors. Some people preferred the really bright garish ones from L3 (Libronix), which were jokingly called the "Christmas tree" effect. They were toned down already once for Logos 4, so this look appears to be further "pastelizing" the palette.
I agree that you shouldn't change the color scheme of user-selectable elements (highlighter pens) out from under people. Sure, make changes in non-user-selectable UI colors to standardize on a new look if you want. But if you want to change the default highlighter colors, at least keep the colors existing users have already selected, and broaden the options of what can be chosen for colors. Color is a very powerful memory aid, and if you change something a person is used to in Bible study, it can throw them off significantly.
Here's an example that was snickered at for the "Christmas tree" look on this thread:
KS4J was able to a make a pretty garish-looking example even with the new more muted colors in L4 here.

One very practical reason not to change the colors is someone would have to update the wiki pages that show the old color scheme.
It seems like it was several years ago, but at one time a FL employee took the time to ask about desired changes to highlights. Unfortunately nothing came of it. 😬
