Given the events of the release of Verbum 8, I think it wise to get the Catholic needs for Verbum 9 out front early. Please post your needs - especially the pastors, seminarians, and faith formation/religious directors that are currently embracing Verbum.
- Make it easy to add datatypes so that the church documents and standard references all have the indexing we expect. Then fix tagging of the church documents and standard references currently released.
- If practical add the AAS reference to church documents to assist scholars.
- Separate the ordo portion from the lectionary so that lectionaries, including historic lectionaries, can be added without incurring large maintenance expense. Make the ordo portion customizable so that users can adjust it to fit their country, diocese, order and parish.
- Add lectionaries in support of the Eastern Rites (see 3) Note: most lectionaries can do a decent job of autogenerating if given the date of Easter which the user can then tweek for accuracy.
- Add Saints lists in support of the Eastern Rites (note this helps Anglican & Lutherans out as well)
- Follow the advice (in the forums and elsewhere) of Fr. Damian McGrath and Fr. Devon Roza to make the Sermon Guide and the Sermon Workflow useful for lectionary (multiple passage) homilies. Suggestion: Homily Helpers Guide
- Add support for Liturgy of the Hours - paying attention to the denominational needs of Mennonites, Lutherans, Anglicans . . .
- Add the following resources: all translations used for Catholic lectionaries; the NJB with notes; the Knox translation; Rouët de Journel's Enchiridion; the Baltimore Catechism (for historic comparison), the Community Bible, more Migne
- Reorganize the Liturgy section of the Passage Guide to be in Denomination/priority order rather than straight priority so that there is a Catholic section, an Orthodox section, an Anglican section, a Lutheran section . . .
- Review all features for parity i.e. add the Help Card feature to Verbum; verify that the treatment of events in the deuterocanonicals are treated as equals in the Bible Event Navigator, . . . and develop a long term plan to ensure that they are treated as Scripture not afterthoughts
- Separate the Oriental Orthodox (w/ Assyrian Church of the East) from the Eastern/Byzantine Orthodox in all the theology sections
- As a fun feature, consider an interactive of scripture based devotions, many of which have variants, such as the rosary, the Jesse tree, the 7 Last Words, the Stations of the Cross, Sorrows of Mary, Sacred Wounds, the O Antiphons... we could have fun making collecting the data a group effort
Use: primarily desktop, some Kindle and iPhone
