Old Time Worrd Search User - New to LOGOS
Finally getting the hang to some of Logos 8.
After nearly 15 years using Quickverse, then Word Search.
Question: Have learned how to format and create a Personal Book, but how to I make sure it can be used and accessed by others? When I built a small book just now on Ruth, it compiled with no errors. I clicked on "UPLOAD:" but where does it go? How can I locate online. Just wanted to make sure it is public for all to see and use. Where can I find this book on my Hard Drive?

That's easy: you share the book and some information about it exactly here in this forum. It's not possible to share compiled PBs in Logos format among users, instead it works like this: You share the DOCX file from your word processor, a title image if you like, and give us instructions on how to compile (e.g. as a bible commentary or as a calendar devotional).
Of course this presupposes you made the book yourself or use Public Domain or otherwise freely available content. We refrain from sharing PBs that duplicate existing books in the Logos catalog.
I clicked on "UPLOAD:" but where does it go?
This means that your PB now sits on a Faithlife server. If you use another desktop, or replace your computer someday, it will automatically downlöoad onto that machine, just as the Logos/Verbum resources do that you own. No other user will be able to access or use this file, PBs are currently private in the sense that only you have a license to the book you built.

OK. My book is just the beginning. It is only four(4) chapters. Each chapter is an outline of each chapter of Ruth, with files being named as follows:
Ruth Chapter One.docx
Ruth Chapter Two.docx
Ruth Chapter Three.docx

When in the Personal Book Editor, just add each file in order as I've listed them.
You can name it "Outlines on Ruth" or whatever you want to name it. These outlines
are by Mark Copeland at executableoutlines.com I formatted each file with about 4 levels of headings in Micorsoft Word. Saved each chapter as a separate .docx file.Question: I'm just a newbie at this, so don't laugh too hard. How do I make these files available, so anyone can use them in the Personal Book Editor? Tried to insert them in a POST and that didn't seem to work.

For others who may be interested in compiling their sermons or other material to be formatted for Logos Bible Software there is a document called "Logos Help" in the library. Look for assistance on Personal Books.

I have already created a Commentary that currently covers 2nd Kings thru Revelation.
It is a very Extensive Commentary, but is in the format for e-Sword. Already over 10,200 users have downloaded it in the past year. Would love to convert it to the Logos Format.The bad thing is that it has taken me since Sept 11th, 2019 to create 2nd King thru Revelation.
It is about 100MB in size. It features Book Notes, Chapter Notes and Verse-by-Verse Notes.The source code is in .RTF format, via Microsoft Word. Any suggestions on how to easily convert to format for Logos Personal Books? Won't be hard to convert the .RTF code to Microsoft .docx, but will take a long time to insert all the Headings for the creation of a proper book in Logos.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. I might also mention that the above commentary features all authors from the American Restoration Movement (1790 to 2020) Has authors such as David Lipscomb, JlW McGarvey, H. Leo Boles, N.B. Hardeman, Guy N. Woods, and Gus Nichols to name a few.

How do you attach all four files to a message or post so users can download?
you use the paperclip icon of the forum editor - I think it allows files up to 5MB or such.

Well, I see the Paper Clip and am giving it a try. so here goes....
There you are NB.Mick. The four lines(links) above are the four files in my little Personal Book. In the Logos Personal Book Editor, just click on add a file and add each of them as listed above. They should compile without any errors. This represents my 1st attempt creating a personal book for Logos. Think I will try a project much larger, now that I think I have this part of Logos figured out/
Let me know if the links work. They look a little strange as i am typing this,so let me know.....

Anyway, since the source code is nothing but ..rtf files created in Microsoft Word, shouldn't be hard to convert to .docx files. I'm not sure about all the formatting that was put into it. If one can successfully remove the formatted, then you should be able to add the correct Heading information for creating the proper Table of Contents for creation of a good Person Book. Like I said, let me know and I can supply you with the source code. Afraid that they will be too large to attach to a post on this forum.....

I'm not sure if Dropbox will still let you, but it used to be true that you could create a dropbox account, and upload a file, create a sharable link, and then you could post the link here to it.
As far as converting it to logos format, Logos uses .docx files - MS Word files - as the source to compile the books into Logos.
RTF should be able to be opened in Word, and then "save as" .docx.
You may or may not have some formatting to fix after the file conversion. Hard to say.L2 lvl4 (...) WORDsearch, all the way through L10,

Since I still preach 3 time a month, alllow me some time. if it's not in my files I'll see what I can do. My specialty is coming up with a sermon or devotional talk at the last moment......

A few years ago I wrote a macro to be used with Microsoft Word to convert books from e-Sword to Logos. See if that works for you: https://community.logos.com/forums/t/130215.aspx

Eventually it will have 60 outlines or more. The following iis
what I have done so far, if you want to Compile it into a Personal
Book. So far it compiles without any errors. As I add chapter(s),

Thank for this link to the Restoration Library, Mark. At one time several of us were trying to get the College Press Textbook Series into Logos. It was put into "community pricing," however, it didn't fair too well. I have that complete set in paper and in e-Sword. I was able to get the Gospel Advocate in WS several years ago and it has been one of my favorite sets.
Thank you for the files that you've already provided and I'm looking forward to "many" more RM resources in the future.

There are a couple of ways:
1. Search for my name in the search bar. Everything I have put up, questions and all will come up. Most of my RM materials are 2017 or before. I teach world religions at a local university and in recent years I have put up quite a few eastern religion resources.
2. Search by author "Alexander Campbell" "Barton W. Stone" "Moses Lard" "David Lipscomb", "R.H. Boll", "Leo Boles", etc.. That will bring up quite a few. There are too many other RM authors that I've put on here to either enumerate or for me to remember, but they're there. You could also try "Millennial Harbinger" but I'm not sure that that will bring many hits. I have converted hundreds of RM resources, but most of the more obscure or very brief ones I have not put up here because while we are definitely present here in the forums, RM pastors and scholars are a distinct minority.
May I have your email address? I would like to correspond with you about some of the source documents you mentioned, but until either of us put them up as .docx files, I presume they are of no/little interest to the rest of the list.

I have served with the independent Christian Churches for 35+ years. In recent days with the disintegration/demise of most of the institutions that held these churches together (North American Christian Convention, Christian Standard, the continuing closure of preacher training schools, [Cincinnati Christian College and Seminary among the most prominent] etc.) I have been reading more and more churches of Christ materials,,, although mostly older stuff.
