Wordsearch Moving to Logos Bible Software

We’re excited to announce that we’ve completed the acquisition of Wordsearch Bible Software from LifeWay and are in the process of moving Wordsearch’s customers, resources, apps, and user-created content over to Logos.

We’ve officially kicked off the first phase of the process, with much more happening in the coming days, weeks, and months.

  1. Customers: If you’re a Wordsearch user, we’ve already set up a Faithlife/Logos account for you. If you already had a Faithlife account, we merged your Wordsearch account into your existing Faithlife account, if you used the same email address for both. If you used different email addresses for your accounts, you’ll now have two separate Faithlife accounts that we can merge for you by sending an email to cs@logos.com with the two email addresses you used letting us know which one you’d like to keep as primary. Otherwise, you don’t need to take any action to set up your new account. We’ll be handling everything for you. Be on the lookout for an email letting you know that your account migration is complete.
  2. Resources: Resources owned in Wordsearch will move to your Logos account. We’ll unlock the licenses up front and then build out and deliver the content over the coming weeks and months. Wordsearch has thousands of titles not yet available in Logos, so we’re excited to grow our catalog of content for Logos users and open up the entire Logos catalog to our new users from Wordsearch.
  3. Apps: Wordsearch’s desktop, mobile, and web applications will continue to work for a while, but we’ll phase out support for them and consolidate all our development efforts on Logos to ensure we provide an even better digital Bible study experience for all of our users.
  4. User-Created Content: We’ll be building export/import tools that will allow Wordsearch users to bring their notes, highlights, and other user-created content to Logos. We don’t have all the details worked out yet, but we hope to have this available in the coming months.

We’re really excited about what this acquisition means for both Logos and Wordsearch users alike as we bring together customers, catalogs, and consolidated resources to advance digital Bible study even further.

I'm glad to hear you're as happy as we are! :)

What happens if you have matching content in both programs?

What happens if you have bought matching content in Logos within the last 30 days regarding the 30 day money back guarantee?

What happens if you have bought matching content in Logos within the last 30 days regarding the 30 day money back guarantee?

You can return any Logos purchases as per our standard 30-day return policy. If it happens to be the exact same content (sometimes Wordsearch has a different edition) then your Wordsearch license (that has been added to your Logos account) will enable that content to appear in your Library even though you returned the Logos purchase.

Logos licenses can be transferred as per our normal policies. Wordsearch licences can only be transferred along with a complete transfer of all Logos + Wordsearch licenses.

i'll join David Taylor in literally jumping as soon as LessonMaker questions are available as a Logos resource that I can copy to a Sermon Doc! I've been with WS since before it was sold to Navigators before it was sold to Lifeway.  originally on 5.25" disks

Making Disciples! Logos Ecosystem = LogosMax on Microsoft Surface Pro 7 (Win11), Android app on tablet, FSB on iPhone & iPad mini, Proclaim (Proclaim Remote on Fire Tablet).

i'll join David Taylor in literally jumping as soon as LessonMaker questions are available as a Logos resource that I can copy to a Sermon Doc!

We did acquire all LessonMaker content and will be looking for the best way to bring it into Logos.

LessonMaker will be a huge blessing in Logos.

And he will turn the hearts of fathers to their children and the hearts of children to their fathers (Mal 4:6a)

Do we have any idea how soon this incorporation will take place? It seems like it would be a simple indexing issue, but I'm a pastor, not a coder. This has been an expensive transition and this is a feature I use regularly. It isn't saving me time right now. PLEASE HELP. thanks.

Same here! I did not see this coming! Excellent news. I look forward to expanding my Logos library!

I am very happy I have invested a lot of resources word search and PC study Bible. I hope the something to happen to PC study Bible as well.

    Blessings in Christ.

Will any Wordsearch employees loose their job as a result of this acquisition? I hope not but as this will probably not be disclosed as part of the celebrations of this acquisitions offer up a prayer for those who may well be out of work and for their families who are dependant upon them having an income to meet their daily needs.

i.e. I own Barnes' notes in WS but not seeing it in my Logos account yet.

On an unrelated note, does this mean that certain books that were for sale in WS will eventually be for sale in Logos or would only previous WS owners get those books? I know WS had some titles that you didn't like BH Commentary series for the OT

    Edit: Holman OT Commentary

This is AMAZING! I just got the email and ran over here to see if anything was posted. I also just checked my Logos software and am getting a bunch of updates. GREAT NEWS!

I am a PhD student at Liberty University School of Divinity. We received digital resources free of charge for the duration of a course. Will this functionality continue with the resources available through Logos?

Those resources will continue to be provided through mywsb.com (the Wordsearch web app) for the rest of this semester.

    What happens after the semester?

    What happens after the semester?

We'll be moving all Wordsearch licenses for Liberty students over to Logos in the next year. Final timing is still TBD.

How long should it take to consolidate accounts if they are tied to the same email address? I checked my wordsearch/lifeway account and it is the same email as my Logos/Faithlife. I don't see any of the resources as of yet. This is a welcome addition, Ive been using logos as my primary software since version 4. Before that I invested in Quickverse & Wordsearch because I could find book collection cds on ebay for excellent prices. Ill be glad that i can finally remove these programs from my desktop and iPad. (Especially the Wordsearch ios app.)

I have invested many resources in quickverse migrated to PC study Bible. I have the professional library in PC study Bible . I hope one day they will be migrated to Logos.

    Blessings in Christ.

Years ago I dabbled with just about all of the PC based programs. I still have cds for Parson's sermon illustration/preaching software and the Greek and Hebrew tutor programs. About a year ago I tried to install them to see if i could get them to work on a modern pc. It was a herculean task that I was not suited for.

Most of my commentaries in Wordsearch were long ago duplicated in Logos as I migrated away from Wordsearch (and Quickverse before that).  One resource I didn't migrate was the MacArthur Commentaries.

Most of them seem to have ported into Logos today, but interestingly the most expensive ones in Logos didn't port (Matthew, Acts, Romans). Perhaps this is due to Logos bundling these and Wordsearch breaking them down individually. I'm not complaining, but it's quite funny that the most expensive resources didn't make the cut.

How long should it take to consolidate accounts if they are tied to the same email address? I checked my wordsearch/lifeway account and it is the same email as my Logos/Faithlife. I don't see any of the resources as of yet.

I checked your account, but I don't see any Wordsearch licenses showing up. It looks like you should have some, so I'll bring this up with our tech team. It probably won't be able to be looked into until Monday morning, sorry.

    WOOOOOHOOOOO!!!

I just woke up from a long afternoon nap and I come to the forums to see this great announcement! I think I even joked about something like this months ago, but now it's a reality!

Welcome Preacher's Outline and Sermon Bible and other resources.  Jack Andrews , Gregory Brown, Gospel Advocate Commentaries and Burton James Coffman Commentaries and more! Wow, what awesome news!!!

In fact, checking my mobile app, I already have over 1,000 resources more.  There are some that might not show up since they are duplicates (Welwyn, Barnes, Clark, etc) but I hope all content gets converted to Logos like the coveted Thompson Chain Reference Bible which I own in WordSearch.

I have many other commentaries like Mattoon, Cantrell, Discovering Christ, Exalting Jesus, AND EXEGETICAL GUIDES TO THE GREEK NEW TESTAMENT SERIES!!!

This is awesome! Thank you, Faithlife for such great news and for making it easy to get our content into Logos!  I'm already seeing quite a few!

    Amazing!

Of my 600 plus resources roughly half of have been transferred.  Some specific examples are the Thompson Chain collection, the Phillips Translations NT, HCSB Cross Reference and many more.

Any ideas what they problem may be?

Not all Wordsearch resources are available in Logos right away; some are still being converted.

We don't have a page providing this information for individual users.

This is very good news for Logos users. I hope it will become good news for Wordsearch users as well. I suspect Lifeway at this point in their history just could not continue to put money into this product, so I am glad my favorite Bible study software company could buy it from them.

I've been a Wordsearch user for almost 30 years (since 1991), and a Logos user since 2003, and I'm more or less happy to see this. It's not exactly how I expected Wordsearch to go out, but it's probably the best-case scenario, at least for someone in my position. It will be a welcome treat to have both libraries combined into the Logos platform - both for convenience and for the superiority of Logos ebooks and supporting technology.

I started moving to Logos as my primary platform when Logos 4 came out (2009?), but still go to Wordsearch for certain things. Some are resources, so I trust those are either migrated or will be after development in Logos format, but I also use a few tools.

I often prefer the Wordsearch Parallel Bible tool in to the Logos Text Comparison tool, but mostly because I struggle with dynamically managing the versions under comparison. Mostly what set Wordsearch apart was its support for user-created content. I'm glad to see Logos stating plans to incorporate it, and will be very interested in that development.

Some things I don't see referenced on the Package Comparison page are Verse Lists, and the User Books that came over from QuickVerse. The WS Verse Lists are very different data objects than the Logos Passage Lists, in that they support dynamic versioning per entry, support the creation of multiple sections in the document, and support annotation of both sections (i.e. headers) and//or individual verses.

The User Books could ostensibly be converted to PPBs, assuming WS users got PPB functionality in their packages. However, Logos might want to think about providing similar tools that could act as templates for creating PPBs with the appropriate codes/tags baked into the resulting document, so that users wouldn't need to be conversant in PPB-speak to create anything beyond a basic document in PPB format. Creating a homemade commentary (or Bible) in PPB format today requires quite a bit of under-the-covers knowledge, and is rather tedious. This might be a good opportunity to build tools to help users create resources that are indexed by Headword (e.g. dictionaries), Date, or B-C-V.

Now I just need to request a refund for the $19 I spent on Renn's Dictionary yesterday before it shipped, since I liked it so much in Wordsearch that I thought I'd break down and pay for it again in Logos [:O].

The WS Verse Lists are very different data objects than the Logos Passage Lists, in that they support dynamic versioning per entry, support the creation of multiple sections in the document, and support annotation of both sections (i.e. headers) and//or individual verses.

We're aware of this difference between Verse Lists and Passage Lists. The first round of importing your data may just be to bring over the references from the Verse List. If Logos Passage Lists have those features added in a future release, we could redo the import and upgrade your documents. But to begin with, they will have less functionality in Logos.

The User Books could ostensibly be converted to PPBs, assuming WS users got PPB functionality in their packages. However, Logos might want to think about providing similar tools that could act as templates for creating PPBs with the appropriate codes/tags

We will probably just bring these over as PBB source files that you can compile into Logos PBBs. Building equivalent resource creation functionality into Logos isn't on the roadmap right now.

Hi, I see that the Tozer collection is avaiable on Logos but is not in the list of WordSearch titles that will be migrated to logos later. So was it an oversight or does Logos has no plan to migrate our WordSearch Tozer collection license to Logos?

    Thanks.

the list of WordSearch titles that will be migrated to logos later.

The list is of resources to be migrated not of licenses to be migrated. If the resource is already in Logos there is no reason to migrate it; only the license needs to be migrated.

I think this is an oversight. It looks like The Best of Tozer, books 1 & 2 (and many other Tozer volumes) have already been migrated to Logos users' libraries.

This is great news. I can't see my Biblical Theology for Christian Proclamation volumes purchased from WordSearch. For these volumes do I need to wait until you publish them as Evangelical Biblical Theology Commentaries?

Edit: I can see on the pre-pub page that it shows I own the resource for the 3 volumes previously in WordSearch. Great news!

I own 500+ books in Wordsearch.  My Wordsearch account uses the same email as my Logos account.  But I don't see any new books appearing in my Logos library.

I'm seeing them in my library. This announcement also explains why there wasn't a free book yesterday.

I don't think it will slide away within the next couple weeks... for now, chances are more people will see it if it stays in General.

Also, you may want to Favourite Phil's initial post. Then you can find it forever.

If I'm understanding the purchase of Wordsearch correctly, I'll finally have a 1984 version of the NIV in Logos that I can use in parallel with all my resources that reference the 1984 version.  [:D]

    Phil/Bradley,

FL/Logos acquiring WS is very good news!  And, I appreciate the list of titles that are going to be transitioned over to Logos. However, I have several titles that were produced for the WS application but not by LW/WS nor sold by them.  Quickly comparing my WS library list with your list of transitioning titles, I have already spotted some that are not on the transitioning list.

Is there a similar, official list of titles that will NOT be transitioning over?

And, if they are not transitioning over (for whatever reason), is there some way to at least convert them into, say, PDFs or Word documents?  Or are they simply lost to me forever unless I laboriously copy and paste and copy and paste and copy and paste ... ?

    Thanks.

p.s. Sorry to throw more questions/work at you ... I am sure everyone at FL/Logos feels as busy as the proverbial "one-armed paperhanger" right now!

p.s.s. And while we're at it, as long as you have now taken over WordSearch ... how about bringing back good ol' InstaVerse?  I really miss that great little app.

Instead of Artificial Intelligence, I prefer to continue to rely on Divine Intelligence instructing my Natural Dullness (Ps 32:8, John 16:13a)

We have acquired the licenses to Wordsearch content that was sold by LifeWay (or by Wordsearch before they were acquired by LifeWay). If you have licenses that were purchased from a third party, we have no record of that, and will not be importing them into Logos. Do you have some examples of such titles and where you purchased them from?

Is there a similar, official list of titles that will NOT be transitioning over?

We do not have a list of Wordsearch titles that were not produced/sold by LifeWay, so we can't produce this list (if I'm understanding you correctly).

But I guess the list of titles that's not transitioning over is everything that's not on our list of titles that are migrating?

And, if they are not transitioning over (for whatever reason), is there some way to at least convert them into, say, PDFs or Word documents?  Or are they simply lost to me forever unless I laboriously copy and paste and copy and paste and copy and paste ... ?

Since there's no "Export Ebook" function in Wordsearch (AFAIK) you'll probably have to contact the seller/rightholder of those resources and ask if there's any way they can provide a DRM-free version of that content for you.

I think they are pretty much the ones included in this screenshot.  I don't remember the small company they were purchased from, but I do know they no longer exist.  Most titles appear to be public domain.  A few, like The Potter's Freedom and Boice' works, are still protected by copyright.  I know there is some overlap with Logos resources.

Note that I possess the actual files for these resources which I always had to manually install any time WS was (re)installed or upgraded.

It would be fantastic if Logos could convert these over for me (at least the public domain titles).

I am in the same situation. Years ago there was a company called Doxa Digital Press which sold lots of titles compatible with WS. Whenever I've changed computers, I've had to manually install their files when re-installing WS. There were a few other physical disks I had purchased from other places and also had to install those separately. One of those was the Complete Biblical Library. By and large, these resources are not showing up in my "Products Owned" pages on the WS website and thus are not transferring over to Logos. There is actually quite a lot of discrepancy between what I have unlocked in my WS library and what is displayed on the Products Owned page. This morning I emailed WS about this, and I hope they can provide a good solution to this issue.

I see it at https://www.logos.com/wordsearch-library-migration when I type "Interpreter" into the Search box at the top of the page.

Apologies I didn't look under T for the and I do see the NOAB when i search.

I own Wordsearch and Logos. I've been offered a 50% discount for updating Essential Features because of the move of Wordsearch to Logos. However, when clicking the link to buy the update the cost is shown in teh basket as full price. I assume this is an error!

    Blessings in Christ.

I don't wish to sound negative but I wake up on 20 September with this 'fait accompli' Wordsearch moving to Logos Bible Software.

My concern relates to handling customer information.  On the basis of ' a common email address' there is a sharing of information whether we like it or not. So my questions are:

        1. What other information may have been used to support this and to compare customer detail? and;

        2. What safeguards were/are in place with the transfer of information?;

        3. It maybe some detail in a profile  did not wished to be shared in this way so how is it protected?

Nowhere in the documents listed could I find  reference to privacy information ( I am happy to be corrected).

Do not get me wrong. I have used both programs for many years and understand there are benefits in the 'transition' although speaking personally it will prove difficult.

Getting back to my concerns, both WS and Logos have privacy policies. Is it possible for some Logos official to comment on how these policies guided the transition; the affects privacy the transition has and confirm that arrangements meet the privacy policy of both organisations.

    Thank you in anticipation.

I don't understand about the privacy concern here. Logos (Faithlife) acquired WORDsearch and therefore whatever info you revealed to WORDsearch should be and has to be available to Faithlife (else how can they make the transition for you?)

May be what you want is some sort of consent. The only thing they did that is slightly scary is the auto-merging of the 2 libraries but then they said that you can request them to undo this.

I think they want to make it as seamless as possible and at the same time as it is not an irreversible process that I think it is as good as it can be.

On the basis of ' a common email address' there is a sharing of information whether we like it or not.

Rather than sharing the data, I think it is more accurate to say the data was sold to Faithhlife Inc. together with the responsibility to provide certain functions and products that LifeWay would no longer provide. Put another way, LifeWay sold the contract that you had with LifeWay to Faithlife ... similar to how banks may sell your mortgage to other banks or the conversions in a bank merger.

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

    Well said, MJ 👍😁👌

similar to how banks may sell your mortgage to other banks or the conversions in a bank merger.

Which has much more sensitive info.

Why even worry about it? Most people have already had their identity stolen and they don’t even know it!

Almost a week later and still none of my Wordsearch titles have migrated to Logos (according to https://www.logos.com/wordsearch/library-migration, which I check regularly).

Should I be concerned? How many users are still waiting?

    Thanks

Please see my update on timing here: https://community.logos.com/forums/p/193953/1118644.aspx#1118644

We did not expect this to take so long, and apologise for the delay, but we're processing the license backlog right now.

I am very grateful for this update and have been trying to use it and get used to it.  My problem is I just signed up for my Capstone class at Liberty and my books went into WSB and I can't figure out how to get them over to LOGOS? And I am unable to scroll and read the book on my old WSB app.  Can you help?

I assume you have a Logos account. Assuming you have, your WordSearch books should appear in your Logos library.

I don't think our LU licenses have moved over yet. They said that wasn't the first priority.

my books went into WSB and I can't figure out how to get them over to LOGOS?

This is the expected behavior at this point. There is a transition period for the hand off between Lifeway and Faithlife. The textbooks are still in WordSearch and I am not sure when FL will begin to provide support.

    Hi Phil,

I have been a customer of Logos Bible Software for a long time now.  I'm also a WordSearch customer, too.

I was informed that the WordSearch library is being transferred to Logos which is great!

The reason I am contacting you directly is because there is a major misunderstanding and oversight with the issue of not transferring the WordSearch KJV Bible.

But I was told that the WordSearch KJV Bible will not be transferred to Logos because the Logos library already has a KJV Bible in the library.

As a result, the e-mail from Faithlife Logos Customer Support stated that they will "retire" the WordSearch KJV Bible.

There is only one KJV Bible in Logos (KJV 1900) and it does not have periscopes (ie: headings/subheadings and proper spacings) through the text.

I have purchased the printed Bibles such as: The Open KJV Bible, the KJV Study Bible, etc. and they all have proper spacing and periscopes.

There is not an option in Logos to purchase a KJV Bible with the proper spacing and periscopes.

The reason why the WordSearch KJV is so important is because it includes the proper spacing and periscope which makes it much easier to read and study.

Please take a look at the WordSearch KJV Bible here:

    WordSearch KJV Screen Shot.jpg

As you can see, this WordSearch KJV Bible is one of a kind, especially if it were transferred to the Logos Library.

I have made several phone calls to Logos, Faithlife and even WordSearch (Lifeway) and they all referred me back to the forums to make a suggestion.

I followed through with the forums but I feel like my voice is not being heard.

Here are the links to my forum entries concerning this urgent and important request:

I feel like Logos has a valuable resource, asset and opportunity with the WordSearch KJV to be added to the Logos Library and to be informed that they are NOT planning to transfer but to RETIRE it is really bad news.

I also called Logos Sales department to see if I could purchase another kind of KJV Bible such as the Open KJV Bible or Study Bible that includes the proper spacing and periscopes but they said they have NO KJV Bible that includes what I am looking for.

I called Logos Tech support and they showed me how I can link the Logos KJV Bible with another Bible version so that I can follow along with the other Bible's periscope and then go back and forth with the text.  I'll send you a screenshot of what that looks like below.

Logos KJV and Bible Outline 2.jpg

Even though I found a work around using The Outline Bible, which is an awesome tool, yet this is nothing like using the WordSearch KJV Bible as a good "Go To Bible" -- reading and study Bible.

I am making an urgent appeal that this specific WordSearch KJV Bible will also be transferred to Logos since it is part of the WordSearch Library.  Logos Bible Software has only one KJV and it does not include any headings whatsoever.  This WordSearch KJV Bible makes a great reading and study Bible and would be an asset for the Logos Library.   Here is the information:

    WordSearch KJV Number:  005619461

Please prayerfully consider this urgent and special request.

I also thank you for your time and influence.

    Sincerely,

Curtis - It might be good to create a new thread. Also, your screenshots did not work. Did you use the paper clip icon to attach them?

Yes, here are the screen shots.

Here is the Logos KJV only.

Here is the WordSearch KJV of Genesis 1

Here is WordSearch KJV in Genesis 12.

When I contacted customer service about this issue, they said that Logos already has a KJV Bible and they will retire this WordSearch KJV.

My point is that Logos needs more KJV Bibles with periscopes (headings, subheadings, etc) just as you would see in the "Open Bible" and other KJV study Bibles.

Since Faithlife already acquired WordSearch, all they have to do is transfer the WordSearch KJV into the Logos library and we all will have a beautiful, easy to read KJV digital Bible in the Logos Library.

This is my urgent request. =)

The work around is using the Logos KJV with the Bible Outline.  But I don't think this works on a cell phone app.

Here is the screen shot of the work around:

    Screen shot #2:

Some might think this is a good work around.

But I have a better idea.  Use the Bible Outline and connect it to WordSearch KJV "if and when" it gets transferred over to Logos Library and then that will be the ultimate KJV Bible with awesome periscopes. =)

    What do you think?

    Sincerely,

    Curtis

    Hi JT,

Thanks!  I contacted Phil directly via e-mail and I also created a new thread.    Here is the link: https://community.logos.com/forums/t/193801.aspx

I'm so excited that my urgent and important request is being prayerfully considered.

    Blessings,

Curtis, the King James Version (WordSearch Edition) has just auto-downloaded and appeared in my library, so I'm assuming your request was approved and actioned on pretty swiftly! Have you seen it in your library yet?

    Hi Phil

Curtis, this is clearly an issue that is important to you. I echo the advice Disciple II gave you on Saturday that you acknowledged an hour after he posted. Direct email to Bob and/or Phil is going to be more effective than USER forum postings.

Thank you so much and everyone else in this forum for your kind responses and encouraging messages and great suggestions.

    Truly appreciated!  =)

Phil could you please tell me wether you are fixing the Fire Bible into logos search?

    I truly appreciate it.  =)

    Phil,

I am an LU student.  Do you have an update for when our textbooks are coming over into Logos?

    Thank you,

    Hi Phil,

My friend signed up to the free Logos App Bible software:  https://app.logos.com/

She was trying to get the free access to the King James Version (WordSearch edition) but she said she could not find it.

Can you make sure that this KJV WordSearch Edition will be included in it please?

    It's available here:  https://biblia.com/books/ws-0-1/Jn3.14

But she is new to Logos and would like to access this public domain Bible KJV WordSearch edition in App.Logos.com

    Thank you for your help.

Those freely licensed versions available on biblia are not all available to be browsed for free in Logos (including app.logos.com, what you can access in Logos Desktop and app.logos.com should be identical.)

Some (may be all) of them are available on mobile apps however. So you can ask her to try reading it on mobile apps. (And there's a way to install mobile app on desktop depending on platforms but that may be too technical.)

Also, "buying" those $0 Logos packages like the Basic ones may give you additional "temporary licenses" for other Bibles. I'm not sure it includes the KJV though.

    Hi Kolen,

    Thank you for your reply.

I am still hoping that Phil can fix this issue.

    * The free Logos package does not include the KJV (Word Search) edition.   See https://www.logos.com/basic

Phil, please include the KJV (Word Search) edition in all Logos apps and packages.

It is not even "sold" on the Logos website:

    https://www.logos.com/search?query=king%20james&sortBy=Relevance&limit=30&page=1&ownership=all&geographicAvailability=availableToMe

As a result, my friend cannot access or read the KJV (Word Search) Edition.   =(

    Thanks for your help.  =)

    - Curtis

I know about KJV only individuals, but this is the first time I see KJV WORDsearch version only 😂 — To me KJV is KJV. Is the text that counts not the headings which are not inspired anyway.

But hey, hopefully FL can include it for free, depending on the contract, copyrights and stuff.
