Not sure whether it's a bug or a not-thought-through feature... assuming you see the same as I do: What the store at ebook.faithlife.com does is using two predefined defaults about the books we want to search for: "available to me" and "live". As an international customer I'm often getting frustrated by the first one, but this time it's the second one, you need to deselect the 'breadcrumb' "live" of the facet filter, then you should see the expected result.
Of course it would be helpful if a filtered search about to come up with the "no results" page would instead offer a non-filtered search.

Can't do that. The "Live" checkbox is not visible in search results, and if I deselect it before running the search, it gets popped back in again automatically to the search URL parameters. If I delete it and post just this URL:
...the site still automatically adds the two unwanted parameters back in (my bold below). It's impossible to do a search with them off:
That is a bug.

I agree it’s a bug but, if it helps, you can search for it successfully on the Logos.com site.

.... if there's no result at all - if there are results, it is shown (such when not using a phrase search, but just typing/pasting the title or part of it - indicated in my screenshot with the arrow pointing to the absence of a quote mark - and can be deselected):
which then gives
(noting that I probably wouldn't have taken notice of the book and thus only this thread made me pre-order it, thanks Rosie!)

yes, that's unfortunate and very unhelpful, I agree with you.Logos.com, by the way, automatically adds the "available to me" parameter, but not the "live" parameter when searching. Still annoying (especially when the autocomplete shows that a title is there, but then it doesn't show up). Both lack negative facet searches and a "search in the results" feature for refinements, which would keep existing filters when entering a new search argument in the box.

Hi all,
I've sent a request to our dev team about removing the automatic "Live" tag to search. I have a feeling there was a reason for doing that which I'm not currently privy to but I'll follow up once I have more information.
