Thank you for the reply.  Can you please explain the process of exporting a PBB and creating the pdf to view in the mobile app?

From WORD or what ever program you use to create your DOCX files save the file as a .PDF file. 

Then transfer that .PDF file to your mobile device and use what ever program that you use to read PDF files. 

There is no way to import the PBB file to something that the mobile device will read with in any of the FL products.   

FL once did a scan of all of the PBB files uploaded to their servers and found many copies of the same lifted copyrighted files.  [In direct competition to FL and putting FL in legal jeopardy for having illegal copyrighted files on their servers.]  So FL stopped all plans to move PBB to mobile devices.

The advantage, in my opinion, of a PDF file over a DOCX file on a mobile for reading only is that hit the wrong key with a DOCX file and you have changed the file and maybe with out knowing that you did it. PDF files are harder to modify.

I believe it is ok (legally) to scan a book (that I own) into a pdf and then to make it into a Personal Book in Logos. But in doing this... I cannot make it public without authorization from the original author or the publisher of the book. As long as I keep the book or pdf of the book for my use only then I am legal.

We seem to be allowed to transfer music from CD or LP to MP3 for our own use. By extension it 'should' be OK to do this for written material.  But I have not heard of courts so ruling. [Am in the US.]  And stress on the for our use only. [But there is a clause on the opening page of many books about the publisher having the only rights to convert to digital format]

I would argue.... that is for commercial or profitable purposes...  As long as it doesn't leave my hard drive or as long as I don't allow it to become public material... then I feel comfortable that scanning to pdf is ok. Although I have not checked with a lawyer...

In the United States, this is really unsettled law. However, for the purposes of logos and mobile, it’s a moot point. Personal books aren’t available, so there is no reason to convert anything. 

True.... The way I use and have used in the past, is I convert a book to a pdf and then with something like "Copernic" I can search the pdf files and find an article or such that I'm looking for.  Today, there are many PDF searchers...  and now with "Favorites" in Logos ... I can still use my pdf files.

I bought the books. I own them. I don't sell them... I don't allow others to use them. They are for my personal use only.
