FEEDBACK WANTED: New Resource Toolbar on Desktop

We're considering adding more keyboard shortcuts for frequently used features that now require more clicks, such as "Add parallel text" and "Interlinear".
Wouldn't it be better, in addition to just creating keyboard shortcuts, to also have the option of creating shortcut icons in the “shortcut bar” or in the new top “toolbar” just as we do today with books and folders? I use the current “shortcut bar” a lot.
My previous suggestion was to use shortcuts in the top “Shortcut Bar” or in the new “Toolbar”:
A suggestion for the new "toolbar".
One very useful and practical setting would be to have the option to "Add to Quick Access Toolbar." This is an option available in Microsoft Office programs, and I use it a lot to keep frequently used settings at hand. You just need to right-click on a tool (for example, font color) and click on "Add to Quick Access Toolbar."
I’ve attached a screenshot showing how these quick access shortcuts appear in Word (Note: my version is in Portuguese). All the icons within the yellow rectangle were added by me to the Quick Access Toolbar.
Currently, Logos already has a similar option to pin shortcuts and folders to the top bar. It works with books and other resources, but it doesn’t work, for example, with the Interlinear and Auto Translation. Before, the Auto Translation was just one click away, but now it takes two clicks. Since I use it a lot, I’d like to have it pinned for immediate use. The same applies to other functions like Interlinear, Summarization, etc.
I believe that having this "Add to Quick Access Toolbar" feature along with the new Toolbar would be very beneficial for all of us.

This is a neat idea and in my view is similar to MJ's suggestion to have a "power user" tab. what if instead it was called a "quick access" or "shortcuts" tab? Users could be given the option to pin features/tools/shortcuts to this tab, customizing it to their current project/individual workflow, saving clicks, which appears to be the primary complaint about the new toolbar. It does sound like a lot of work, but might be worth it.

I imagine it's because I might want to “share” by printing or generating a file to be sent.
And why does it have to be duplicated under tools? One location is enough. Two is unusual and excessive, IMO.
0 -
Why is "Print/Export" listed both under the tools and the share tab? I feel like the share tab is more fitting, and I don't see why it needs to be duplicated.
In our testing, about half of users looked for it under Tools, and about half looked for it under Share. There were generational differences (older users tended to look under "Tools") and OS differences (Apple users tended to look for it under "Share").

And why does it have to be duplicated under tools?
I imagine that they're still going to sort out these “duplicates”. I think I read it somewhere in this post.

I don't find this surprising. Nonetheless, some credit should be given to a user's ability to learn its location based on where you decide to put it. Either location would be fine. However, if the decision has been made to create duplicates of the print button, I'll hold my objections in the future. Then again, why stop at the print button? I could think of a couple more...

I'm happy with any of these solutions in the sense that they allow me to have shortcut icons to add the tools I use most.
It does sound like a lot of work, but might be worth it.
Work? They're already having a hard time tinkering with something that was good and inventing something totally new. So, if that's the case. Let it be something well done and that satisfies the old users and “heavy users” and the beginners they want to reach with the new toolbar.

(Apple users tended to look for it under "Share").
Us Apple users skew usage metrics all the time...
I blame Steve Jobs. He relaunched Apple under the theme 'think different'.

Mark,
Can you please get rid of the "More" menu (with one menu option and an extra click) when there's clearly enough room to put "Share" or "Tool" in place of "More" instead?
Thanks

That sounds like a bug. Can you explain under what conditions this happens and please post a screen shot?

I can reproduce this - on Mac - by just floating a window and adjusting the width so only the right-most menu is not showing
Do you have a blue oval just after the Share button (when you are wide enough to see it) that says "New"?

Yes
Excellent. The "New" marker doesn't go in the "More" menu, but it looks like it still may be "occupying space" even though it's not visible.
I've created a case to fix this bug.

So, try out the new toolbar and let us know what you think in this forum thread.
I’m not a beta tester, so my feedback and requests reflected below are based only on what I have seen on the Webb app and read in this thread:
(1) I’m very glad that Logos primarily uses blue colors, but it is disappointing to see they apparently are planning to continue using the same extreme bright shade of blue in this toolbar and throughout the program that was originally introduced in software version 26.
Within the new resource panel toolbar, this uncomfortably bright blue is used in the top toolbar’s active category tab underline and the secondary toolbar’s active category tab icons. The accompanying blue highlights are also too bright.
This reading distraction related to the new toolbar which is also found in other parts of the resource panel could be resolved through a Feedback suggestion I’ve submitted which suggests adding an option for a user to change all UI elements currently using the extreme bright blue color back to the more comfortable blue color used at the time Logos 10 was initially released and prior to software version 26.
However, some users may wish to see no bolding or highlighting of active category tabs in the new toolbar regardless of what blue color shade is used. For that purpose, I propose an additional option (perhaps in system settings) to turn off the blue bolding and highlighting of active category tabs.
(2) As others have already suggested in this thread, please allow an option for experienced users to create our own custom toolbar, removing functions we rarely use and adding those we frequently use, while maintaining a default toolbar with standard options for inexperienced users.
I personally would prefer this option on the top toolbar with the ability to toggle back and forth between custom and standard toolbars. However, if that is not possible or it is more logical to add this option to the secondary toolbar, then in order to reduce clutter, I would request the ability to temporarily hide the top toolbar while the custom secondary toolbar is open.
In this circumstance, hiding the top toolbar would be especially important if no option is added to either change the extreme bright blue used for active category tabs to a more comfortable shade of blue or to turn off the blue bolding and highlighting of active category tabs.
(3) In addition to (not instead of) the customizable toolbar options suggested above, adding additional keyboard shortcuts for frequently used features would be great.
(4) Please add an option within the system settings for resource panels to open by default with the secondary toolbar hidden. I request this because I use custom layouts with various opened resource panels. In order to comfortably read text, I will need to keep the secondary toolbar hidden within each resource panel and “show” it only when needed. It would be annoying if I have to hide the secondary toolbar of each resource panel every time I open a custom layout or new resource.
(5) Regarding the up/down arrow button on the right side of the top toolbar used to temporarily show/hide the secondary toolbar, please mute or soften its grey color shade, or add an option to do this, so I may read the text below it with less distraction.
Grey is an excellent toolbar color and this button’s minimal design is fine, but my eyes see its bolded shade as slightly overpowering most of the other top toolbar elements (except for the much more overpowering extreme bright blue active category tab). An alternative idea would be an option to remove this button and simply click in the empty space to temporarily show/hide the secondary toolbar.
(6) When the locator bar is open, it is currently hidden by clicking on the X tab on the right side of the bar. In order to reduce clutter, please add an option to hide the X tab and close the locator bar by clicking anywhere in the open space within the bar.

Hello
Visually not bad. But I want you to remind a much more important thing. Inline Search. Still a complete mess!
For example this recourse.

BBLSCHSNMNLXKN.logos4As you can see it has Indizes as follows.
(I don't talk about the unfinished translation, this is mentioned in another thread).
If I go to the Inline Search all comes up except the Headword (Eintrag) for it.
If I use the headword (Eintrag) I get at leas it is there.
If I set the : colon, there is then no alphabetical list of the entries (to the letters I have written). No space after the colon.
But the search would work.
Now if I do a space after the colon:
I get a list but 100'000 miles away. There is no with Abi to the Headword in the resource.
It is fine to search from here to there, but make it only as a second option. First of all it should find what is in the resource and it fails completely.
In Accordance you have right away the list.
If you type more the non matching words disappear.
The same should work in a more complex search too. For example I type "Headword:" then the list comes up. I type the second argument, and again the list for the second argument comes up.
In Logos I get autocomplete in German resouces for French. Unfortunately I have not made a screenshot. At least I typed a word and I got English Autocomplete suggestions and in French.

Search is designed to help you find terms that could occur anywhere in a resource. If you want to navigate to a particular article or headword, you're much better off using the reference box in the top left of the book. (In your screenshot, the reference box currently says "Abiel".)

Read aloud is broken. When I click it, it goes rapidly through to the end of the book flashing up the animations with no sound. This is on mac. I tried with 2 books.

Seems to be fixed in 37 beta 1 which only just installed. If its mentioned in the release notes I didn't see it.

We haven't fixed it yet, I'm afraid. It's an intermittent problem so it might return for you.

If I collapse the resource toolbar, save layout, close Logos and reopen, the resource toolbar is no longer collapsed. I think it should stay how it was when last closed.

I second this. [Y]
Also, clicking on the image of the book should give the contents of that current book and not a list of similar books. That's kind of like opening a physical book to look at the bibliography. There are times you want to do that, but it takes a back seat to seeing what the book in your hands contains. It should take extra clicks to get to the "change books" navigation instead of extra clicks to get to contents of current book.
With the subscription toolbar collapsed, by default I want to see the contents of my current book. If I want similar books, that's what left/right arrow keys are for or I could do the multiple click route.

My toolbar does not show on the NIV.
Are you on Intel or Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3, etc.) Mac?

Thank you for including in v.37.0 beta 2 the count of the number of hits in the inline search, as well as the graphs.
_______
However, what I notice is that this now requires more clicks than in the old inline search. To see the inline search count, I have to click once on the “Search” tab
To send the result to the chart, I now have to click twice: once on the “Send to” tab and once on the “Charts” option.
I can get used to it, but I don't like the extra difficulty that's been imposed.
