Video orientation changed

I tried to upload an in-house video and the replay on the video changes the orientation to (horizontal) sideways. How do I get it back to vertical?

Hi, Steven, and welcome to the forums! We don't currently have anything that re-orients your video in Proclaim, but we'd like to add support for this in the future. There's an explanation of rotated media that you've imported in this thread.

Firstly, the solution is to open the video in a video editing app and rotate the original (or edit the video orientation metadata). Windows and Apple machines both come standard with basic video editing tools.

Secondly, if you're willing to provide us with the video we'd be able to take a look at its metadata so that we could handle rotated images better in the future. A Dropbox/Google Drive link sent to proclaimdev@faithlife.com would be perfect for this. If you could also include the information of the device on which it was recorded that would be helpful as well.

I have experienced the same problem repeatedly with video files that have been captured in vertical orientation (by phone?) rather than horizontal, and have the same problem for a video for this Sunday. My go-to solution is to import the video file into the free software HandBrake, and then encode it to a new file - this typically fixes the problem. This however is an inconvenience, and I am hoping however that Proclaim can fix this issue.

    Thanks for the report, Caleb.

Happy to report this is already in Proclaim. This is an older thread, and we've since added an option to rotate videos to the background settings. Add the media to your slide background, then choose background in the upper-right. About halfway down, there's an option to rotate.
