Volume Normalizer

"I'd love to see automatic audio normalization/equalization
Automatic audio normalization that adjusts all sound so it outputs at the same level. During Easter week I had so little time that I didn't process all of our music and videos so that they had a standard volume. The result was having to move quickly to the sound board (the sound guy was away) to adjust audio several times."

It would be nice if audio could be normalized with custom options. For example, LUFS/LKFS or RMS normalization with specified levels.
  • This would be a great feature. I agree that playing different videos often results in having to adjust volume on the fly. This isn't great when you're streaming the service online.

Normalizer sounds like utopia but if you could at least raise / lower the volume *per clip* in proclaim then that'd allow for a much smoother experience than reacting on the fly from the mixer.
  • Yes please :-)

This would be BRILLIANT. We often end up with different staff providing videos recorded on phones (eg for a quick notice when they aren't available in person) or a badly edited video, and the volumes are all over the place.

The per-clip fixed adjustment approach seems more attainable than a full blown dynamics feature.  I agree either (or both!) would be phenomenal.

In the meantime, if you find yourself sending Proclaim's audio to a digital sound board (or an analog one with outboard gear), it's quite possible to configure a slow compressor on the channel to work as an AGC-style normalizer to help keep things more even.

I'd be happy with a standard output -12LUFS with no customization but on/off. maybe we get to first base on a much needed function?

The Per-clip adjustment would work for me
  • YES PLEASE... this sounds silly saying it like this, but we meet at a movie theater and use the projector and sound built in. We have to run upstairs to the projector room to adjust volume! We're a video venue.

hi Joshua - thanks for the feedback, any chance you'd be available for a 30-40 min chat? I'd love to learn more about how you are using Proclaim and Sermons by Logos -- https://fl.vu/cosand-calendly

@David Cosand  Sorry, was on vacation and it's a busy week. Essentially we use it for lyrics projection and to record the sermon. We then use the embed code to put the sermon on our website after publishing it in Proclaim. This makes it easier for our volunteers.
