Sync: Make switching between accounts possible

I am a student at Liberty University and have a separate account for school, however the mobile app makes reinstallation of the app necessary for signing in. I am a single user with two accounts. Not being required to uninstall and reinstall would make a lot more sense than the current set-up.

I am a co-pastor, and we use an iPad Air for preaching. It's great for reading and presenting, and we can integrate well with Proclaim. The problem is, we both have our own separate Logos accounts. When I create a sermon on mine, I open it in the app. But when my co-pastor creates one, he can't log out of my Logos account and then log back into his. The Congregation owns the iPad and we don't have the budget for a second one. We also don't ever download resources onto it, and only use it online. It's frustrating that either we have to uninstall and reinstall every week, or else one of us has to copy the other's sermon into our Sermon builder.

Having a logout option/button would be a great addition on order to manage other subscriptions for guests using one's device.

You can’t log out of the mobile app? That can’t be that hard to integrate, right!

There has to be a better way to switch plans. At the moment if I want to view personal purchase that are not linked to my school I have to uninstall the app and reinstall under my personal account. Why not create a feature where you can just log out and log back in under the name or account of your choice

We recommend consolidating all your resources, purchases, and documents into one account, instead of maintaining separate personal and school accounts. Customer Service can merge your accounts together.

Not sure sure if its only me. But I don't seem to find this feature anywhere in the app. I think this is an essential setting to have in the app.

The ability to switch accounts in the desktop app is **VERY** useful. I have L-10 Gold that I use for my personal study and teaching preparation. I also have an account with the free app as well as an L-9 Fundamentals, both of which I use for training our Bible study leaders — our church bought L-9-F for most of our Bible study leaders. However, the only way to change the mobile app from my L-10 account to either of the apps I use for training seems to be to completely uninstall the app from the table, reinstall on the tablet, and log into the account I want. Slow, awkward, and interferes with training.

I fully agree. I currently changed my logos email address, so I needed to log back into the app. Now that’s impossible because the app is still set on that old email address and only lets me log into that one. I’m unable to change that, so I can’t log in. Now logging out is impossible aswell so I’m stuck and can’t access my account.

It‘s a basic app feature that’s missing here, even if it‘s not needed that often. I have tons of books downloaded so I have them available offline… which I would have to re-download when uninstalling and installing again.

@Bradley Grainger  There are times when that is not feasible. For example, I am the Education/Administration Pastor for our church and currently have three accounts:
    • My personal account which is Gold Standard and now Pro (Early Access). I use that account for my own Bible study and preparation for teaching.
    • A training account which is L-9 Fundamentals. We purchased L-9 F accounts for any adult Bible study teacher who wanted it — my account is separate from the teachers' accounts. I use this account for training and answering questions for our Bible study leaders. This greatly reduces confusion that would exist if I used my L-10 Gold Pro with many more functions and resources.
    • A free account that I use to encourage church members to use Logos for their personal study and to answer questions that come up about that level.

The desktop version of Logos allows me to switch accounts at will — "Restart as…". But, as the original poster said, switching on a mobile device — an iPad or a phone — requires uninstalling and reinstalling. That's a very tedious procedure when trying to help other users who don't have the same level that I have.

No where in settings or the main menu is a logout. Even in the About section where it says the account that is logged in, there is no Log Out button.

@Jonathan Leaders  You'll need to uninstall the app in order to logout. Once you reinstall the app, you'll have the option to sign in or create a new account.

@Bradley Grainger  I have the same situation as @Bob Allen . I have a personal account with full paid features and tons of resources. But I keep recommending the free tier of Logos to family and friends who just need a Bible app for highlights, notes, and reading Christian books where they can tap to view Bible references. I have a free account that I would like to pull up on mobile so I can show them what they could do if they created a Logos account. However, because I cannot log into this account, it's hard to make Logos look compelling.

Their big fear is that they will have to invest the thousands of dollars that I have invested. However, I genuinely believe the free version has great functionality for a beginner. And I know from Logos' standpoint, that is the only way to get these people into the ecosystem and to begin their purchase history with individual titles.

I would love to be able to log into my free account on my phone so I can explain the features that are included! This option would be perfect for conversations with friends while we're milling around the sanctuary after church.

@Ali Pope  Please see my and Bob's responses above. This reinstall solution is not viable for us, and it seems like there could be a significant advantage to Logos helping loyal customers refer new customers.

@Josiah Young  I need exactly the same thing for exactly the same reasons. I am always recommending Logos but have no way of easily showing people exactly what the free version looks like.

@Greg Wright  I had the thought that it would be cool if Logos would let us simulate lower-level packages, or at least the free tier, without having to switch accounts. Just temporarily hide everything that's not available in free, but keep all our notes for example so those could remain part of the demo (to show what a user who has been using free for a while could accomplish). Logos already has functionality built in to restrict certain features to certain packages / subscriptions , so it would just be creating a similar filter that the user could change.

EDIT: After I wrote the following reply, I did some poking around in Logos on an iPad. It appears that I can, in fact, switch accounts. I was logged into my L-Pro account. I tapped on "More" at the bottom right, then scrolled to the bottom and tapped "About". There is an entry, "Account", that had my L-Pro e-mail address. Not expecting anything to happen, I tapped "Account" and got a pop-up to Create Account or Sign in. I signed in with my L-Free account. The Logos app window closed but Logos was still running. When I reopened the window, the Pro functions were gone and it looks like the "free" functions were available (no AI, no "Related Books, only 9 tools/guides, etc.). When I repeated that process but signed in using my Pro credentials, the Pro features returned. The Version number is the same for all my accounts (37.0.0 (129)) and I didn't find anything that identified the level (L-10-Free, L-9-Fundamentals, or Pro).

Another curiosity: While I had the Pro level open, I opened the Lexham Research Commentary for Colossians, which I had purchased. With that open, I then switched to the L-9-Fundamentals account. The Research Commentary stayed open in the layout and I could scroll around in it. However, when I searched for it in my Library, it didn't show up — that was what I expected since I had purchased that commentary for my Pro version.

So … maybe Faithlife/Logos have implemented switching accounts after all … and just didn't tell us.

I do wish there were something, somewhere within the mobile app that showed exactly what version of Logos is being used.

@Bradley Grainger  I would be surprised that this workaround hasn't been mentioned (or did I miss it?) except that it just now occurred to me. A much easier workaround than uninstalling and reinstalling is to use the iOS/Android app for one's primary Logos account which, in my case, would be my personal account (Logos Pro). Then, for other accounts, I can use the online app (app.logos.com). That still doesn't allow me to switch accounts, but it's easier to log out and log back in than to uninstall and reinstall.

The **BEST** solution is still to either allow switching accounts on mobile devices or, as @Josiah Young  suggested, have a setting that would limit Logos mobile (or even desktop) to the features of a lower set. Frankly, this seems like a win-win for Logos and users because it would be easier for us to provide support for folks using lower levels of Logos.
