I came to Logos from Wordsearch and have never been able to use it effectively. I have books prioritized on the list on the right side of the page but when I try to open them, nothing happens.
Watch this:
@Ken Gibson
Are you trying to click on the titles of the books in the priorization panel? If so, that's not how you open them. The panel only serves to manage which books are referenced above others in Logos. You can place and order books in the list to reflect your preferences but that's it. To open them, search for them in the library search field and open any title by clicking on it in the list that is thus produced.
Thanks. I would really like to use LOGOS, and I've had it for several years, but I'm a little older and have a really hard time finding any "hold in my hand" (printed) instructions. All I can do now is open the library, as you suggested, then open which books I choose. I still use Wordsearch and find it much easier to navigate. I'll probably continue to use it until I can't anymore, then I'll be too old to use anything!
Appreciate your help. Ken
@Ken Gibson I understand it can be difficult to adapt to Logos. Have you gone through the videos of orientation for people new to Logos? They are here.
Logos is not the most intuitive Bible software although the company is working on improving this. A bit of perseverance is rewarding though as you will be able to really dig deep into the Word.
A recommended path to gaining understanding of prioritization can be found as follows: from the Forums banner above, select Training > Logos User Wiki > scroll to Prioritizing > A Sample Prioritize List > select from banner: How to Prioritize resources > Read the page Prioritizing by Dave Hooton Last Updated Oct 4, 2024. I know it was a grueling walk to this information, but I promise you it's worth it!
I have enjoyed many of the Logos courses I have taken, but one thing that has concerned me is that it seemed many of them are becoming outdated - not that the content is outdated, but in that many of the books in the suggested reading are no longer available in Logos, or the reading might be from the 1st edition and now…
I have a few study bibles I use and love. MacArthur, ESV, Reformation, etc…. I love seeing notes for each verse that explain the verse from their perspective. Is there a similar resource that shows the same things but from the Catholic perspective? I've searched and found bibles with footnotes and Bibles with articles but…
Has anyone created a personal book yet of Pope Francis' final encyclical Dilexit Nos? I think it may be ten years before Logos catches up with Francis' works and am wondering if someone else has saved us the effort.
As far as I know it has never been on sale. Its main competitor, Anchor Bible Dictionary is cheaper and even included in libraries. Meanwhile NIDB remains very expensive and unaffordable. I wonder how well it actually sells. Time to approach Abingdon to negotiate a deal on this title?
2 questions. Does Logos or anyone know of or have a Modern Greek Translation recommendation? Does Logos or anyone know of or have a Modern Greek Translation with a NT Greek Interlinear I am taking a modern Greek class and think it would be interesting to have.
