Features of Collections

Dear Folk,

When I populate a collection with resources,

  1. Is there a way to prioritize or edit the order of those resources in the Collection?
  2. If I use Detail view for my resources in a Collection, then order them by Rating, when I switch to picture or Tile views they are not in the same order. Is this a bug, can one fix this, or is the Detail the only view that one can change the overall position of the resources?Th

Thanks,

Mike

The order in which you view resources in the Collections tool has no impact on the order in which those resources will appear when the collection is used anywhere else in the application. Any sorting you apply is only for your own viewing within the Collections tool. Only the details view provides a way to sort the resources in the Collections view.

There is no way to alter the order of those resources in places where the Collections are used. What is it that you are trying to accomplish? …because there may be another way to do what you are trying to view.

    Dear Andrew,

When I search a collection, I'd like to get prioritized results from my favorite resources in the collection. Similarly, when I view results in a collection, I'd like to see them prioritized, instead of having to search through e.g. 20 results to find the one I want to see.

As an alternative (not a good one), I re-title my common resources that show up in collections and tagged groups. Commentaries, lexicons, Bibles, etc.). On the desktop, it often respects the re-titling (sorts). On the mobile, and web, not so much.

Prioritising in collections would help with passage guide where sections are set up to look at particiular collections. Prioritising in the library is cumbersome.

I see. One thing that might help is that you can do a Books search, then set the results to group by "Book". Then change it to sort by "Rating". Then you just need to make sure your favorite books are highly rated.
