I like the new look of how Bible references are showing. But this does not help anything in being productive. Can we rather focus on how to make current features more productive than just changing the look and then add this as a new feature.
The latest change has been a functionality downgrade. I regularly use the link previews to read lectionary texts, but with the latest beta release the text gets cut off early instead of either expanding to fill the page or allowing me to scroll to see the rest.
The old link previews allowed you to see more/all of the text which was quite useful to me (it was one of my favorite features, especially on mobile). In terms of style I don't mind the new version, I only dislike the loss of functionality.
Hi @Adam Mertzenich, the link previews are still supposed to let you scroll up and down for long texts, and that's my experience on both Android and iOS.
Can you confirm that you are using the last beta?
@David Vela (Logos) I am on that build on ios and are not able to scroll on this. As you can see it should go to verse 16 but it stops at 13 and does not allow me to scroll.
@David Vela (Logos) is there any change that we can have some sort of update. That when there are multiple references like this photo that when you click on one that they stay listed so that you can stay in the popup without pressing outside popup to close and press on the ref to get next one.
@David Vela (Logos) I am on Android Build 1424300109. I am able to scroll a little bit, but after a few verses the rest of the text is replaced with an ellipsis (same as Lukas). In my example image above you can see verses 16-18, but verses 19-20 get cut off. Note that I had to scroll to see verse 18 and the beginning of 19, but the rest was replaced with the ellipsis.
Thank you for adding more details, Lukas and Adam. You're right, although you can scroll the preview if you're on phone, long texts truncate after around 550 characters on both phone and tablet. But this behavior hasn't changed, it's the same we had with the old design.
The reason for updating link previews was that we were relying on (very) old custom code, which made hard and risky making any changes and improvements (e.g. adding link previews to Factbook and Sermon presenter). Link previews are now based on native components, which help improve performance, maintenance, and consistency with the platform UX.
Edit: Sorry, it looks like we didn't previously truncate link previews on Android. That was an effect of the work for moving to the native component.
@David Vela (Logos) do you know if the limit will either be removed or at least significantly increased? Being able to quickly view the entirety of a referenced text using the link previews was tremendously useful, it's one of the main reasons I use the Logos Mobile app for Lectionary readings. It would be tremendously disappointing to permanently lose this functionality.
It seems like a gaping hole not to offer a reverse interlinear option on the mobile app — whichever is easiest: inline or with a pane at the bottom. As I'm using the mobile app when I'm away from home I constantly wish I had a reverse interlinear option.
In the desktop app (Windows) the current beta - - includes a change to how ref.ly links are handled on Windows. Application ref.ly links in external Windows applications will open directly in Logos without opening the browser. This matches what we already do on Mac. ref.ly links in a browser will continue to open a browser…
in Sermon Manager on my iPad (the same is true for Homily Manager in Verbum), when I try to open the lectionary section in the templates / lectionary dropdown, no lectionaries are displayed Is anyone else seeing this?
This morning I ran a search against my Top Bibles and, when I selected the Fuzzy view, there was a suggestion to try a Smart Search instead (and I think that’s a great idea!) But when I tapped that option, it simply repeated the precise search - presumably because a Smart Search can only search one Bible at a bottom Would…
