What determines what resources open double clicking a tab?

If I have an ESV open and I double tap the ESV a new tab opens, but it is the NIV?

If I have an NA28 tab and double click it the SBL Gk opens, and double clicking the BHS opens the LXX?

I assume it is supposed to be doing this, but is there a reason why it is specifically the NIV, SBL and LXX opening? I checked the library and I am pretty sure the SBL and LXX are not prioritized (though the NIV is because of a class I teach).

Double clicking a tab opens the next parallel book in a new tab. Tapping the right arrow key will open the next parallel book in the same tab.

Hi @Aaron Hamilton, thank you for your reply. I am still kind of confused though, why is the NIV the next in parallel? When this is happening I have the ESV open and the NA28 in parallel, and that is it. The NIV is not open or in parallel until I double tap the ESV.

Just wondering if the NIV is in the Priority list?

Mine opened as ordered in this list : First from the priority list then it follows the list in the Bible drop down list.

To expand slight, the list of parallel books may be a collection you built or a default based on your prioritization (or Logos default prioritization). You set what you want by clicking on the cover thumbnail; note that your choices may require multiple page,

ooo new discovery, may I know how do you make it 2 pages? Do I need to have a few hundred Bibles in the library?

Here I added a few Chinese Bibles into a collection & check the box Show in parallel books

The second page is a collection of bibles. In your own screenshot, in the far left, you have a box checked "Show in Parallel Books" so you already have this option enabled. To give an example, clicking on my list from the ESV shows all bibles in priority order (Including multiple languages. while the second list shows only English bibles as it's in that collection.

Parallel books (as illustrated in the screenshots in this thread) is different from parallel text/multiple books. The list can be influenced by your collections if you wish (there is an option, as seen in Michelle's second screenshot). It is also influenced by personal and/or default Logos prioritization as MJ mentioned.

Hi @Michelle, ya, it is because of a class I teach. Maybe I should get it out of the priority list since I have a saved workspace with the NIV when I need it. That said, while the NIV makes some sense, the SBL and LXX both opening are not prioritized books. (As far as I can tell, the priority list section is sort of rough visually, but I am pretty sure it is only the NIV in that list).

Hi @MJ. Smith, I think your Logos might be different than mine, since if I click on the ESV thumbnail it just opens an NIV. If I right click the only options regard floating it or closing it.

Hi @Aaron Hamilton, regarding priority books, I think the first thing I will do is get rid of the NIV in that list, but I am not sure how to get rid of the SBL and LXX since they are not prioritized. Also, just out of curiosity when I double tapped on the ESV and it opened and NIV, I double tapped the NIV and it produced the KJV, which is also not prioritized.

Ideally, if I click an ESV it opens the NA28, and if I click the NA28 it produces the ESV. (That would be short of the true ideal of it just opening the version I have open, so if I have the ESV/NA28 open, clicking it duplicates the tab).

On a side note regarding collections, a few days ago I gave an attempt at a collection. My goal was to include ALL the English Bibles I own. So I then created a collection, and then I opened the library as a new tab and filtered it down to English Bibles. I then did a "select all" and attempted to drag them all to my collection, and discovered pretty quickly that this doesn't work. It appeared that I needed to drag the English Bibles over one at a time. Trying to do this was a lot worse than it sound since when I got near the end of the page and would drag a book, the library auto-snapped to the top causing me to loose my place in the list. Is there an easier way to do that?

Even if you don't have anything prioritized, Logos will use its own default prioritization. Therefore, the best way to influence this list is by personalizing your own list of prioritized resources, not by trying to make the listed books disappear.

The KJV was likely the first book in the NIV's list of parallel books. Tap on the cover to the left of the reference box to see the list.

I can almost accomplish this by creating a collection of the two books and using arrows to navigate between them. However, double clicking the tab does not seem to follow the intended behavior. It is possible this is a bug. Double clicking the tab seems to always follow the "All parallel books" list, even if the collection list is selected.

Yes. Use the Rule feature. See my second screenshot.

You can open the version you have via right click → Duplicate. Alternatively, you can hold Ctrl and drag the tab.

Theoretically, if there was a space to prioritize OL Bibles, Bible translations, commentaries, and lexicons, or something like that, it would be a little clearer, but as it is, is there a practical way to prioritize books? For example, how many of each resource should I prioritize, and also, does it matter in what order? Or do all the Bibles need to be together, then all the lexicons, etc?

I finally found this and I see what you mean. The next in line is the NIV and then the KJV. However, if I open the NA28 and click that, the next in line is still the ESV, NIV, KJV. And this is set by the prioritized books, I take it? Yet if I double tap it the SBL opens, which is not prioritized or on the first page of the parallel books. (If I just keep scrolling and scrolling it seems to list everything. I still can't find it though, so it must be pretty far down).

To be completely honest, I actually don't want to do any of this at all. This is actually the same issue how when I click on a note anchor instead of it opening in the notebook I have to the side, it opens an entirely new notebook tab making the whole screen unreadable. Here is where I have a screenshot showing this. So now the issue is that I am importing my notes from Accordance, so I need to click onto Accordance and copy a note, then I need to go back to Logos and just tap it to activate the page, and sometimes it does, and sometimes it randomly opens the NIV. Ideally it would do nothing. Sometimes I need the tab duplicated, in which case I just right click like you mentioned, and that works fine. The issue is just that it keeps randomly opening the NIV while I am doing my import.

Prioritizing books in Logos isn't ideal. Eventually it will be improved, but likely not in the near future. I use personal books to separate my list of prioritized resources. They are empty books that serve the sole function of organizing my list of prioritized resources. For example, you could title one ——OL Bibles—— and another ——Bible translations——, etc. Keep in mind that the higher the resource is on the list, the higher it will be prioritized. In other words, a user's personal method of organization will not be respected. Where individual resources cause problems (for example, perhaps you want one lexicon to be prioritized for Strong's numbers but not in general), advanced prioritization often comes in handy.

Hi @Aaron Hamilton, thanks for the idea. I remember awhile ago I saw a video by @Justin Gatlin and about a minute into it he suggested the same thing about personal books. At the time I couldn't do that since I was still too spooked of personal books, but now that I did it a few days ago I think I will go ahead and try this. Thank you again for the idea.

Could you clarify "advanced prioritization"? Do you just mean being mindful of what I do with the Library priority books, or is that something separate?

If you right click a resource within the Prioritize Books list, you will see the option to Set prioritization limits (advanced).

Hi @Aaron Hamilton, ok, got it, thanks. :) Also, I just set up a bunch of personal books as dividers, and that for sure helped a lot.
