Searching all books from my library and store without commentaries and other biblical reference book

I want to search my books and the store for possible stories related to certain biblical texts. How can I do this without being flooded by all the commentaries, bibles, and biblical reference books? I.e. I want to exclude commentaries etc. in the search.

By and large, maybe type:monograph?

I appreciate the suggestion. I could not get it to work as I wanted. It is possible that some books I am looking. I now know that there is not a simple way to do what I want.

You can build collections based on type.

It would be nice if there was an easy way to filter or create collections by excluding categories. So instead of selecting "Monographs" and then only seeing Monographs, I could select "Monographs" and see everything that's NOT tagged as a Monograph.

It would be nice though if there was a way that you could select them, rather than having to type it. That way you could easily do multiple.

Example: Say I was wanting to make a collection of all my books having to do with the Ancient Near East - and I only wanted books about it, not books containing ancient texts.

So I start out with a huge amount of books - can't find anything easily.

So I could remove type: Ancient Manuscript. Then I could remove the Sermons, and the Bibles. Maybe the Journals and Magazines. Then I could also remove books that are not in English, as I'm looking for books about the ANE. I could remove the videos and the audiobooks, and maybe the atlases. If I've already created a collection for it, I could also remove books that I've already added. Etc. And then before you know it, I've gone from a huge unmanageable pool of xxxxxxxxxx books (ok I don't have that many), to a vastly smaller one that I can much more easily browse to see what I might want to include. But by excluding all those other categories, I'm able to get that down very easily.
