Is it possible to turn off the words of Jesus in red?
John chapter 17 is an eyesore for me.... I've never owned a red-letter bible.
Red-letter is slated to be implemented as a visual filter. (No guarantees.) For now, it's "on".
If it needs votes then I second Damian's request. There is a time and place for Red Letter, but not all the time so being able turn off would be appreciated from a visual strain perspective.
+1 from me as well....

+1. It's all God's Word, not just the bits that came out of our Lord's mouth.
I'm not theologically opposed to red-letter Bibles, but as soon as I got LDLS (L3), I changed the color to a darker shade of red (R:128; G:0; B:0), to make it much more readable. If you're not going to make the red letter color customizable, may I put in my request to make them a darker shade of red?
Either way, I agree that we should be able to turn this feature off.
+1 for me. I absolutely hate red letter Bibles. Very difficult to read, for no theological purpose.

HeHe...lets hear it for A Green Jesus! I'm sure Jesus was a tree hugger, and don't bring up the fig tree! Green Letter Jesus!
The tree of life!
and everyone knows that ONLY THE LETTERS IN GREEN are INSPIRED!
Believe it or not...I just came across "red letter only" guy yesterday...amazing.
I like the Red Letter option, not because I think the red lettered portions are more God's Word thanthe rest of the Bible, but because it serves the purpose of a visual filter. The Gospels record what Jesus said as well as what was said about Jesus.
Ken...
it's too early for jokes... [:D]
EDITED TO ADD: Oh....I just saw that you said "NOT because I think....."
whew..it IS early
I do hope the Red Letter filter can be turned off.
I suppose if there is demand, you can add the Green Letter filter from http://greenletterbible.com/ but I for one do not plan on using it.
There are many more HarperCollins products I would like before this (eg, their Study Bible, the updated versions of HBC and HBD). I don't suppose that now that you work with Zondervan, that you can get more from their parent company?
Ken
The red-letter versions make it possible to search the words of Christ eg.
words-of-christ:blessed
Of course, the words don't have to be red ...
you can add the Green Letter filter from http://greenletterbible.com/
Aargh... I thought you were Joking.. [:O] I suppose, "Only in America", but then what would the church do without its creative marketing arm ..
There are so many Christian distractions today its amazing we even have time to preach the Gospel... [:P]

DominicM, you took those word right of my mouth! Amazing!
Ted.
Talk about missing the point!
First of all, I was not the one who brought up Green Letter bibles in this discussion. Second, I tried to say I wasn't interested in it, really. A good review of this is in the Journal _First Things_.
Back on topic, yes, Words of Jesus is a valid field for searching, but that doesn't mean that I should always be displayed.
Aargh... I thought you were Joking..
Back off Point....I was most certainly joking. I had heard of the green Bible which is recycled and shades green passages that are good for the environment or some other non-sense...but I've always wondered what they did with the passages about everything burning.
Back on track....sort of....My prefered Bible would be one which shades all the words of God black, personnally.
Oh man...double arrgggggg....I thought it was a joke also....but it turned out to be a real joke... [8-)]
From their website..."The Green Bible will equip and encourage people to see God'svision for creation and help them engage in the work of healing andsustaining it. With over 1,000 references to the earth in the Bible, compared to 490 references to heaven and 530 references to love, theBible carries a powerful message for the earth."
How about a DIRTY GREY letter Bible for all the transport related references, such as "Moses came down the mountain in his Triumph".
Talk about words aptly spoken!
Back to off topic, we could just junk the whole black letter thing and get the Rainbow Bible. [+o(]
No one is missing the point! The comment where not directed to Kenneth McGuire but to the actually existence of a Green Bible found in the link kenneth supplied.
That is what I meant. THe geen Bible missed the point. The Gospel message is replaced by a "Green" message.
Oops sorry - Ironic, i did miss your point.[:D]
