Are you using Windows XP. I believe that there is a problem with one of the fonts in XP. I see this in transliterations and some other places.
The problem is known but I cannot remember reading of any promised fix.

This problem has not been fixed...
The font appears fine in version 3.
In XP All 3 dictionaries have font issues:
- Merriam Webster 11th ed
- Concise Oxford
- Merriam-Webster Spanish-English
On my 64 bit vista machine it appears that only the latter 2 have the issue.

I continue to have a problem with fonts on both computers in the Oxford Dictionary and Merriam Webster Spanish-English. Lot's of placeholding squares on both my machines appear. Any plans on fixing this?

Yes, it appears there is a Transliteration font issue in XP - I've already reported it, and was told a fix was on the way.

My issue transcends XP. It appears in both XP and Vista. So hopefully its the same bug and it'll be fixed.

Issue still present in Beta 9. I've received no confirmation from Logos that this is a known issue and reproducible on other machines than mine.

I'm not seeing this; mine looks fine. Using Vista 64bit. Also Websters 11th edition.
Which edition of Websters are you using? Did you change the Default Font? How does it look in L3?

Webster's 11th does fine in Vista, just not in XP. It's the other two (Oxford & the Spanish-English) that have the font issues in both XP & Vista on beta 4. It looks perfect in v3. I have done nothing with the font.

Don't have an Oxford English dictionary, but the Webster's Spanish-English looks fine to me (version #: LLS:46.10.24 | 2006-03-24T01:56:33Z).
(Did you mean beta 8? We've been past beta 4 for some time now.)

If you open Control Panel > Regional and Language Options, and select the Languages tab, are both "Install files" checkboxes at the bottom checked? If not, and you check them (may require Windows XP discs?) is the problem fixed? (These checkboxes install Windows components—not just fonts—that aren't present on XP by default.)

These check boxes are already checked on my system (XP). Most of the font problems are fixed for me...
BUT there still are boxes (undefined characters?) popping up in the pronunciations:

I removed support for East Asian languages long ago and the fonts for L3 have been OK (I'm not keen to try them because full removal is horrendous).
Whilst MW is improved now, I have the same problem with the 'n' in "town" (but not in L3).

(Per Bradley's suggestion)_ I have all of the Windows XP language tab checkboxes (I had to put in the XP CD-Rom).
BUT I get this issue in the Lexham Hebrew-English Interlinear
The "boxes" show in the "Manuscript" (transliterated) & the "Hebrew Lemma" (transliterated) rows.

Try changing your Transliteration Format in Program Settings. Scientific works for me.

Dave,thank you for that tip, but "Scientific" is the Hebrew transliteration choice in the program settings. (Along with "SBL Greek" (for Greek) and "Hugye" (for Syriac).
The resource in question is "The Lexham Hebrew-English Interlinear Bible"
When selected from 'Display" Lines 2 and 4 (the transliteration choices) contain the 'box" space-holders.
Is there anything else I may be doing (not doing) correctly?
Should I just be trying each of the others to see if it corrects this?

David, a further (technical) question:
Do I need to completely close down the software between each "font" change?
I've gone through each of these Hebrew Transliteration options (closing the Lexham Heb-Eng OT each time).
But, (to save time) I did not close down the software.

I do not need this feature for the Greek, just for the Hebrew (sorry, George!).
Are there any other resources in L4 that are supposed to have Hebrew transliteration available?
I looked in L3 and could not find ANY in Greek or Hebrew that have it.

Try restarting L4 to be sure (it wasn't necessary in v3).
It is perplexing, because the only Windows Language support L4 should need is for complex script and right-to-left languages. Transliteration fonts (eg. in bibles) and pronunciation fonts (eg. in dictionaries) are handled OK in v3. A few years ago Unicode fonts were an issue for Windows 98!

No success - I closed it down between each font change (BUT Thank you Logos for restoring my previous screen! This saved a LOT of time!).
Strangely, In terms of "right-to-left" the transliteration doesn't even go that way!
When these "glitches" occur I usually assume that I have done something wrong and "broken" something.
BUT I've seen a number of Jacob's posts (and some others) indicating a similar problem with other resources. (These report posts go back to Sept 19).

Here's what I get for town. It seems to be a different problem than what I was seeing before, but definitely not right with that random box overlaid ontop of the text
