Mind Mapping program integration

From the help page of Inspiration 9.

You can save a diagram, mind map or outline as slides that can be opened in
Microsoft PowerPoint or other presentation applications. The exported document
contains formatted topic text. The main idea becomes the presentation title, and
each first level topic becomes a separate slide. Subtopics become slide content.
You can choose to include hidden subtopics and hidden notes.

Hyperlinks, graphics, audio files and videos inserted into notes are not
included in the exported document. Video symbols are converted to symbol
text.

yes that is what I would like to see. Some way to visualize notes and show how the items are related.

Logos' weakness is in notes. The whole separation of notes and clippings they did in Logos 4 was certainly a great disappointment after years of prompting them. It is not all that imaginative. I simply say that to indicate that I have no hope that they will show much cleverness or put much effort into this. Instead of redesigning Logos, I think it's doable to provide some linkage to outside programs then they can focus on what they do best and let others develop external methods for organizing and displaying the results of their research.

Can you steer me to some documentation on shortcuts?  I cannot find it.

Been following the thread since its inception. Although I may add MindGenuis as well, I downloaded the Inspiration trial after you recommended it. While it doesn't do everything I'd like - which is why I'll probably add MindGenuis, too - I really like it and the price is right!

So thanks for your input. I doubt I would have learned about it otherwise.

Lastly, I'm not sure I understand what you mean by being able to create a link which would open a resource in Logos to a particular location.  We already have that feature.  Do you mean with less clicks? 

I'm not aware of this. In Mind Manager I can create a link to a web page or file. When I click on that link it opens a web browser or the appropriate document program.  Can I create a link in MM that would open Logos and take me to a location in a specific resource? 

Yes, you can do this!  In Logos, go to the location you desire.  Click the little drop down arrow next to the book icon in the upper left of the panel.  Towards the bottom of the list there is an option "Copy Location As...".  Choose "URL".  Switch over to MM and select "Paste|Hyperlink".  At this point the link will not work yet, but you can then right-click the link and "edit hyperlink" and change the hyperlink path from "Relative" to "Absolute".

Well, I was going to say its flexibility and MS Office Suite compatibility coupled with a super academic discount ... until you mentioned ArguNet, which as a secondary program (to Inspiration) is even better suited to my needs, with a price that just can't be beat! So, thanks yet again! [:)]

I've used Inspiration for years. Inspiration is targeted at teachers and provides mind-mapping, tree diagrams, outlines, graphic organizer templates etc. at a very reasonable price.  I've tried several other programs and always end up going back to Inspiration.

A question for those of you that use Inspiration:  is it possible to create links within Inspiration that link back to LOGOS?  The tech-support people at Inspiration tell me now, but I suspect that there is a workaround. 

I have been working through the Learn Hebrew & Greek lessons.  I'm in the middle of the Hebrew video on word study, chasing down "council of the Lord" in Jeremiah 23:18 where "sod" is the word behind "council".  I started copying the notetaking in the video, using both Logos notes but also in freemind -- which I decided to try motivated by this thread.  I enjoyed the ability to quickly move nodes around and make visual connections.  And I was able to make links back to Logos -- to verses, Bible word study tool, searches, and notes.  I assume passage lists and other resources would be linkable too. (see image below - I hope it shows up OK.  It looks kind of small.)

Then I copied the note I made in freemind and pasted it into a Logos note.  That worked well, too, although I had to use another program like KeyNote or msWord to get better line spacing.  It comes in as an indented outline. (see 2nd image below)

Anyway, I'm glad I ran onto this thread.  I think I'm going to enjoy using freemind along with Logos.  Hopefully they will become more friendly with each other as time goes by.  I left a note on the freemind forums asking how to make refTagger work in freemind -- that would be very useful, as others have pointed out.

I have tried iMindQ and xmind but my favorite is Freeplane. I tried those 2 commercial apps because I was trying to use mindmaps for presentations and I wanted something with more of a focus on graphics. More pizzazz.

But my experience was disappointing. They were SLOOOOOW if the mindmaps had more than a small number of nodes. And I was pretty conservative about the number of graphics, mostly using graphics on main level branches. Sometimes they ground to a halt and crashed. That was years ago and on an older, slower computer than I am using now. Maybe newer versions of these 2 are faster now. Or maybe other brands are better. I had be break apart Bible studies into small chunks - no more than a chapter per map. That made searching across books impossible for me.

Freeplane has enough graphics for my needs but I do not create presentations any more. I have gotten sidetracked with other notetaking solutions and always come back to Freeplane. Fast, free, flexible and can create huge maps without bogging down (except a bit slower in big maps, using Search-Replace and filtering).

While in Freeplane, I use theWord's clipboard manager to popup scripture references and to navigate to TW and to move multiple references at a time to TW's verse list. It is nowhere as seemless as Logos but it seemless-ish. And TW unfortunately does not have the ability to let you create links in FP that take you to a specific place in TW resources unlike Logos which is very efficient and easy to create links.

I'd still like to find the "perfect notetaking app" - but it will have to come looking for me rather than me wasting any more time looking for it. I find myself in your situation using Logos and Freeplane side-by-side (along with a few tools in theWord). It would be great if Logos notes could understand and properly display Freeplane mindmaps.
