SUGGESTION: last chance input to beefing up notes

I have collated the input from the other thread (see bottom of list) and have merged items or tightened language on some items. I have divided the requests into functional units which make interdependencies more evident and creates a set of requests that are not specific to note. I've omitted bits of detail where I think they interfere with seeing the big picture. A link to the previous thread provides the developers an opportunity to see that detail. I hope to put the final results on uservoice on Tuesday so please get your comments in - we'll keep reworking it until we think we've gotten it right.

Note attachment

allow a note to be attached to multiple passages - with the note icon appearing on each passage
allow all links - to other notes, PDF's mp3's, PowerPoint's, web, mind maps, sentence diagrams, vocabulary lists
permit notes to be attached to a lemma, liturgical date, search string...
allow default note icon color to be set at the file level; permit more colors (at least match L3)
allow user selection of highlight style to indicate attached note/selected text - include suppressing highlighting or show only on mouse over
improve input window (more like L3)
sequence multiple note icons on a text by standard Prioritization

Excellent. You've covered all the improvements to notes that are important to me, that I can think of.

Having a single big item on UserVoice for this might be problematic for Logos, though, even if it gets TONS of votes and becomes the top request. It's not easy for them to break it down into task-list items. They might agree to do some work to improve notes in a coming release, but not have time to do everything on this list. Then they'd want to know which of these things is the highest priority for us. With a single item structure, there's no way for them to tell that. However I'll let them sort that out in communication with us down the road if they do decide to give Notes more of their time and resources. Maybe we could use the voting scheme on that other user input site (which I've forgotten about now) to see which of these items bubbles up to the top. Logos would also want to use their discretion to group Notes tasks together which would logically be implemented together, and maybe do them in multiple stages -- some in one release and more in a later release.

I completely agree. However, many of the current entries on UserVoice are ill-defined with multiple deliverables - a handful I can't figure out what is intended.. However, there is no indication from Logos that they have understood the note functions required by their users. This may be the result of Logos seeing only a series of trees but no forest. I have tried my view of the forest in private communications with Logos with no apparent success. Admittedly, I have not put the same focus on it as on lectionaries and Orthodox resources. If you have a better strategy for the next step, I'll gladly listen. I simply stepped in when another forum user was not immediately available.

(The elements within each subdivision are in priority sequence with most dependencies merged into a single line per forum request. The subdivisions are a high-level cut at what might be done in a single release. Some subdivisions would obviously be best done in steps).)

Some comments:

Isn't "allow all links" "content" rather than "attachment"?
"permit notes to be attached to a ... liturgical date ...": I haven't had time to check it out for myself, but didn't you just find out that this had, in fact, already been implemented?
I don't think you quite cover my numbers 8-9 from the other thread.
I can't find my numbers 5 and 19.

Also, if this is supposed to be prioritized within each section:

"Implement parity for Mac version" should be moved to the top, since: a) it's a matter of fairness; b) pretty much every Mac user is bound to see that as number one, and c) it's done by the Mac devs, so it won't affect the priority for you PC folks anyway. It's also not really "note specific", but rather "general".
"Use right click rather than red x for delete" ought to be moved considerably higher up. Few things are worse than accidentally losing work already done. And it's something they've already been working to change in some other places, so it should be a relatively quick fix. Plus it would make the "restore function" less urgent.

Otherwise I'm fairly happy with the order. Not perfect, but no one is going to get it exactly to his/her liking. The "navigation" section is the one I'd most like to rearrange, but ... well ... such is life, I guess.

way I determined priority was to balance logical necessity with a rough weighted
count of the times individuals had mentioned the items in the prior thread. I
do not necessarily agree with the results but I see my task as an analyst at
this point to be reporting what the users say.

General Function – as we know it is the intention of Logos to implement

The headings are not
prioritized. I added them as I hit items that fell into the class. For me
personally content falls very high and and one of the few barriers to being
truly happy with L4.

Not that I can see... Number 19 was a request for a three-circle button in Passage Lists, and wherever else it might be useful. Number 5 was a request to have notes attached to a part of a verse, e g "the Spirit of God" or "The House of David", show up in as many Bibles as possible, just like notes attached to the verse itself do -- which I assume can only be done if the note is automatically attached to the lemmas rather than the surface text. None of these seem to have much to do with "the 2nd item in note attachment" -- unless I'm too tired to think clearly (which is certainly possible at 2AM).

I think that's a bit too simplified. I think that when weighing priority you should also take into consideration a) the votes already in Uservoice (spell checker 1 vote...) ; b) what's been most complained about in the forums earlier (Mac parity, performance...); c) common sense (Mac parity, right-click delete (there's been lots of complaints about these x's in other places, and they're obviously equally dangerous here)); d) the fact that my extra suggestions were added towards the end of the thread, so no one really voted on them [:P] (If they'd been in your OP I suspect several of them would have gotten votes.) These are all things I tried to take into account when I suggested those adjustments (e g, I haven't had performance problems either, so personally I'm fine with that where it is; it's just my sense for fair play that says that those who most depend on notes shouldn't have to have the problems they're obviously having).

Here's a someone modified list. I have no problem moving the Mac and performance issues to the top of their category as I consider them to be already covered by Logos commitments and they do reflect major concerns raised by many users. I do agree that your last proposals may have gotten less attention than they deserved but feel obligated to reflect the responses of those who responded to the request to prioritize.

Add "Text Converter" to the context menu's (right click)
If we could right click and have the Greek or Hebrew word automatically populate in text converter it would be easier. RGB Values for Highlighting
It would be very helpful if users could add RGB and or Hex values to create custom colors for highlighting text. There are quite a few color options available in the Color Picker, however, some are so close as to not be able to easily tell them apart.
Allow multiple application instances
