Another PB Macro for Word 2010
Here is yet another macro template for Word 2010
1. You will need to download the macro zip,
then extract the file L4_PB Template.dotm
and paste it into C:\Users\<userName>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates.
2. Now if you open a NEW Word document
3. Click on My Templates.
4. In the pop-up window click on your new template (L4_PB Template.dotm)
5. Click on Document.
6. Then click on OK.
7. Now in your new document you will see a new tab Logos4 Macros. In the tab are 3 groups of macros: Milestones, DataLinks, & Fields.
8. Simply place your cursor where you want to insert your macro, then click on the macro-tag that you want inserted.
Some of the tags require you to type more text (e.g. Bible Milestone needs a Bible Reference), after the macro-tag is place in your document your cursor will be placed where you need to enter text.

When I load this, I see an Add Ins menu option, and when I click on it there are eSword macros. I do not see any Logos macros?

Ditto ... mine show up, but as eSword macros.

Steve, if you want to post a file of the macro source, I will put it in a macro file with the page generation macro I posted, and repost as a combined macro. We can see if that works for everyone? I am willing to work with it if you want to.

just open the VBA editor and copy it from there.

I opened it, but as far as I can tell there is no code in it., see attached in case I am doing something wrong. Can you just copy the code, put it in a text file, and zip it up?

Try looking under Normal, this was the location as i was building a template.
It would be of benefit to me to understand why my template was not working so that in the future i could enhance the macros. i have only had Office 2010 for about a week.

I'm running into the same thing Dominick did. It looks like your module didn't make it into the template. I'm certain the culprits are some of Microsoft's nanny settings. I had to sacrifice a small animal just to copy your template into the template path
(Win 7)I opened up every MS roadblock to macros that I know of, but I'm guessing there are some I don't know of. I tried in both 2010 and 2007.
I'm very eager to see your work.

i tried to add a certificate to the macros. Here is the latest file
EDIT: Ahh, read an article in MSDN, moved the macros to a new location where they say they should work (see new file below). Please let me know if they work.

i still am unable to find your module in the VBA editor, and the ribbon tab still doesn't display (just the add-in tab with the e-sword buttons).
Thanks for your work; I'm sure someone will help us solve this. I know from a small amount of experience that sometimes sharing / distributing VBA macros is more challenging than developing them.

Steve - your latest one is empty also.
As I recall when I did my macro, you cannot put it in the Normal.dot and distribute it. It seems to me you have created the template, but it is in your normal.dot so when you distribute your custom template it is empty.

i have moved the macros to L4_PB Template.dotm and they are no longer in Normal.docm.

OK, the code is in the template now, nice job:
However, nothing, no new tab, shows up on the ribbon after I select it per your original instructions, #1 - #6 in the first post:

...and the eSword macros are still there per my prior image if you click on Add-Ins.

I think these are automatic if you have eSword.
i don't see the new ribbon which has buttons attached to the macros
1. Right click in the Ribbon, when the pop-up window appears click on Customize the Ribbon.
2. Then when the customize window appears, click to check Logos4 Macros and then click OK.
3. Now the new Ribbon tab should appear in top area.
The macros should not be shown under Add-ins.

I don't really know how Macro's work, so I didn't know if it would work with Word for Mac. I tried putting it in my template folder, but I couldn't access it. I tried opening it, and the first time I did a little rectangular box appeared with buttons (I can't remember what they said, but they were Bible related), but they didn't do anything. I can't get the box to reappear. Too bad.

After searching and reading i think i figured it out.
Here is a Ribbon customization files (using Export)
If you right click on your Ribbon and select Customize the Ribbon, then in the customize window...
1. Then you can click on Import/Export and locate the extracted file above and this should add the custom ribbon that i've made. (you might want to export your ribbon settings first so that you can get back to them)

I, too, now see your module in VBA editor. i think the reason the ribbon tab doesn't show is that the ribbon customizations possible in W 2010 don't automatically attach to the template, like it might have in W 2003. The reason the E-sword buttons show in Add-In is because they were created for W 2000 or 2003 (probably).
There are some fairly funky VBA tricks I just Googled to that are way beyond my ability to discuss. What I'll probably do is manually add your macros to my Normal.dotm file and create my own ribbon customization for your macros, and I might get inspired to do some myself. It seems to me that the PB process screams out for more of these and I have a little experience with text-handling macros in Word. My code, however, probably wouldn't win any beauty contests [A]
