What does it take to get a new resource added to Logos?

How much work is it for you to do a PB Bible? I'm thinking of older Swedish Bibles. The one I'm most interested in only has files for 3 books right now, so that's not worth spending time on, but there is one or two others that have electronic files in several formats. However, I'm certainly not going to use them enough to justify more than a very tiny amount of your time. They're just 'fun to have' resources, and sooner or later some Swede will do them anyway. So unless you have the process very much automated already, I'm not even going to ask.

How much work is it for you to do a PB Bible?

The scripts are written already. I've used them to prepare the Tyndale Bible and the 1909 Reina Valera. The time required would be to import any existing electronic format into the format required by my scripts (plus a little bit of internationalisation). So it really depends on the input format. Database files and XML files should be relatively straightforward. It could be as little as 30 minutes. It could be as much as 4-6 hours.

I have a 1917 Swedish translation on my system already, but (a) I don't know what version it is, and (b) I don't know what the copyright status is (although I'm told it's public domain). I got it from http://www.unboundbible.org/ if you want to identify it for me, and let me know if it would be useful.

I wasn't thinking about 1917, since that's sold by libronix.se and I've already got it (it should be PD, though). I was thinking more of Karl XII's Bible, 1873 edition, which seems to have whole lot of file formats to choose from online. So far I've found this site with several versions, plus the Sword Project, Accordance Exchange and YouVersion.

I haven't taken the time to look closely at any of them, however, since I don't know what's useful for you. The ones I've opened haven't included the Apocrypha, which I believe ought to be there, but that's not a deal breaker. I also noticed one file had the åäö's messed up, so if that should happen to be the best one for you, I need to do a global find-and-replace on it first (or afterwards, I guess). I should also check out the verse map for you, so that you at least don't have to waste time on that. It ought to be either bibel82 or bl2000. I've noted down where they differ, but I haven't checked against the text yet.

If you're willing, take a look at those links and tell me if any of them is of a kind you could do quickly (I'm not going to ask you to spend 4-6 hours on it! Even if you should have that kind of time, it would be much better spent on a new video. [;)]). And don't do anything until I've looked closer at the file you prefer.

The 1873 text file ought to be convertible. Although it's not a database, it's only a question of reading each line in one by one. The first 'word' is the Bible book, the second is the reference, the rest of the line is the verse. Don't worry about the accented characters. I can fix that in two clicks.

Sure. I probably won't have time tomorrow, but I'll look at it later this week. Note, the abbreviations used in that file are not Swedish, they're English. Apart from looking 'wrong', they presumably won't compile in a Bible set to lang:swedish, so they'll need to be replaced, unfortunately. However, if this pdf is correct (and I'll try to locate a scan later to make sure), there shouldn't be any abbreviations there at all, just verse numbers, which saves me the trouble of typing in a list of old Bible abbreviations (the new ones I can always copy and paste from somewhere, but the old ones might be different).

Is this adding more work, or is it all the same to you if the existing reference, the label, and the new reference are all different?

Also, that file is just a list of verses. Presumably there 'should' be book and chapter headings like in the pdf above. I'm certainly not asking you to insert those chapter 'titles' when they've been left out of the file, but the headings would be nice if you don't have to change your scripts too much. Though I can certainly do it myself later if necessary.

Given all this, how exactly do you want the list to look? You'll need modern Swedish abbreviations for the compilation, and you'll need the old version of the full name if you are to add headings. And obviously you'll need the old Swedish abbreviations (if different) for the surface, if it turns out that there are such in the original, which seems less likely right now. I presume you'll also want the existing English abbreviations in one column? Do you need the modern Swedish full name as well? Any particular order you want the columns in?

Having the English Bible book name in the file actually makes it easier for me. As long at the list follows the typical order of English Bibles, literally all I need is the full name of each Bible book in modern Swedish (plus the Swedish word for 'Chapter'). My script will produce a PB formatted like the Tyndale Bible, with one chapter per paragraph, and will use the Swedish book names you send me. There'll be no headings (other than chapter headings) or other paragraphs.

A test version of this PB version is attached. It needs to be compiled in English at the moment (simply because I don't have the Swedish book names). If there's anything obviously wrong, please let me know. I'll update it with Swedish names when you're able to send them.

I've had a really bad week and a half, which weren't exactly made better (or cheaper...) by a broken tooth and a car that wouldn't start. And for a day or two the keyboard wouldn't function properly either. So I'm even further behind than usual with everything.

Since you specifically asked for the modern Swedish Bible book names, I presume you need them for some reason I can't figure out, so I put them in the first column of the file below. However, if it's all the same to you, I would much prefer if the visible names were the original ones, so I put those in a second column. If it's not the same, just do what's easiest for you.
