I am not able to sync highlights created in a custom palette.  Other highlights are syncing seamlessly.  Thank you for your continued attention to this matter.

PC Windows 7 -  4.5b Beta 4 (4.52.0.1905)

IPAD 2 (32g - 12 gig free) IOS 5.1  - Logos app 2.0.1, Vyrso app 2.1.0 - All files synced on both apps, neither crash - all is well

Stephanie - Are the highlights unusual? Do they use graphics? Are they just plain highlighters?

My iPad still can't sync because I've a few huge highlighting files. My iPad won't even load the original highlight note files and created a copy instead (for e.g. Gerard is the original note file on the desktop, on the iPad it's just Gerard(2). The preset note files like Emphasis Markup, Highlighter Pens, Inductive, Solid Colors all become copies with '(2)' besides them.

My versions:

1. Logos 2.0.2

2. PC 4.5a SR-1

3. Original iPad with 32GB Wifi only.

4. iOS 5.0.1 then recently upgraded to iOS 5.1

Note: my iPhone 4S didn't have any problems from the beginning.

That feature is not currently available. There are "hopes" to bring it in a later release, but Logos has not given any time table. 

sad... let me be sure I understand, tho... if even a single highlight within the custom palate contains an image, the palette will not sync?  I ask because the custom palettes I have created contain mostly images, but there are some styles which are simply a combination of background color and borders.  NONE of them are syncing.  (Just to be clear).  I will try creating a palette without images and get back to you.

I didn't say that, but I don't know the answer. I don't think the two are related.

Just try a stock one from Logos & see.

Are your note files large? How do you define "large"? [When I was first beta testing the 2.0 version of the app, I had a note file with more than 100 printed pages of notes. Essentially, it was a years worth of highlights in one bible translation. That is small compared with some users, but larger than many of the other beta testers.]

I have created a new palette on my iMac with 3 new styles consisting only of highlighting, borders and text markups.  Neither the palette nor the highlights created using it sync to my iPad.  

Also, (as a test) I changed a highlight in a previously synced passage to a highlight which includes an image and there was no change at all.  I understand now that the highlights with images will not sync, but I expected the change to show as an erased or nonexistent highlight.

btw - I am using NASB 1995 as my text, just in case that should prove relevant.

I found your problem. You are not up to date. You must be running 4.5. Sorry I didn't catch this earlier. Do you not have your computer set to automatic updates?

I tried a few highlights using only the built-in palettes... no go to the sync. [:(]

in answer to the question about how I define large... i do not, yet, have my notes copied from my print Bible into Logos.  Currently, I am working on transferring both highlights and notes one book at a time.  I am just starting my second book.  The first was done entirely using built-in palettes; for the second, I have added about 50 custom highlight styles (something new I learned after I finished the 1st book). There are only about 1000 individual words which are highlighted.  Notes are only a few words each and fewer than 100 of those.

Additional note... the highlights done in the first book are synced.  The new highlights (custom palette and built-in palettes alike) are the ones not syncing.

I think you missed my last post… You need to be updated to Logos 4.5 (current version is 4.5a SR-1).

By the way, are you using more than 1 computer? Is it possible one computer is up to date?

it is set to auto update and in fact just updated recently... I just ran the updater again and nothing is popping up... logos still says 4.2.

If the manual update doesn't work for you, I would advise calling Logos during business hours. Your copy of Logos was released May 25th of last year. There have been 18 "stable" updates since!

Good news!  Despite the sync error triangle, my highlights (except those from the custom palette which contains styles with images) are now synced!

The change from 4.2b to 4.5a is a BIG one. Highlights are now considered notes, and have note files. There will be a considerable amount of info which will need to sync up with the server. 

I know that some users have had difficulties with the yellow triangle. I think that these problems have been mostly temporary, sometimes due to server issues at Logos. Another user was complaining tonight, so this may be the case… Is your computer indexing now? You may just need to give your computer some time to get things sorted out.

You will have a lot to learn about 4.5. There have been many improvements since 4.2b! Feel free to start a new thread if you have questions about new features.

Sorry, no. I forget if you mentioned Vyrso. Have you tried the 2.1 version?

It is my understanding that the 2.1 version of Logos got stuck in the approval process with Apple. We were at 2.1 RC4 for a while, but recently have moved to 2.1.1 b1. There are no release notes… I am not sure if 2.1.1 is a move to get through the approval process, or it new work has been done in other areas.

Actually, I forgot that I did get an update… they have confirmed the issue with via logs from a user. That update was a week ago. [:)]

A case was written up concerning large Note/Highlight syncing - I've been able to reproduce it consistently.  I don't know the status of the case at the moment but will check with Development and get back to you on this thread.  Thanks for your patience.

Yes and the highlighting / notes don't show-up there either.  I thought I'd posted that, but can't find it.  Guess I'm getting old

I just wanted to check up with several users who were having difficulties syncing notes/highlights to the mobile app. At the time we thought this might be to "large" amounts of notes & highlights. If you were having problems with this, could you give an update?

I'm still having a problem with the size of my font. I create a note on my laptop using the default font, size 11 and it gets translated to my iPad in two different size fonts. Half the note seems to be font size 11 and the rest seems to be twice that. It's very random, showing up in different places in different notes. The note files aren't very large, about 325 words.

Will the upcoming app release correct this?

I don't know if something has changed on the server - no new version on my iPad, but I've noticed "some" highlighting on my iPad just now.  I have several highlight 'files' and I'm not sure if what showed up is from one of the large ones or not (is there an easy way to tell?).  I also don't know when it they showed up.  Have been to Genesis in a while, so they may have been there all along.  But I've got some of the highlights that are from my Mac showing up on my iPad....  happy dance time!

The way that I would test this is to find an inconspicuous spot and create a highlight in L4, saving the note to the note file in question. Then you can open your Logos mobile app to that resource & location & see if it appears. NOTE: Make sure to kill the app first… often the app will not automatically sync when being turned off in its "hibernation" state.

I still have no useful info, but I do have a tasty tidbit. Another user was complaining about the "news" section disappearing. Apparently, it won't be gone permanently, but because Logos was using it for advertising purposes for another store than apple's, it broke the app store rules. This may very well explain some of the delays.
