My slow labor of getting Stone-Campbell Movement pieces up
continues...this was a PBB3 piece that I see I have never transferred
into PBB4 (I don't know how else do differentiate them.) I have
included two pictures--I prefer pictures of the author, but I have also
included the title page.

thanks a lot for this resource. Since you say in another post you come from the S-C-Movement, I assume that this book presents Campbell's theology as he would have done it himself? (Just asking).
During compile, the PB maker logged a warning since page numer 53 is a duplicate. Since the pages are consecutive and go 51, 53, 53, 54 I assumed a typo and changed the first of the 53s to 52: 1385.2376.The Theology of Alexander Campbell.docx

Thanks for catching that. Interestingly my multiple compiles showed no errors. I have no idea why the same program would catch an error compiling the file one time and not another.
It is fair to say that the S-C is my persuasion (born, bred, trained & ministered in independent Christian Churches for 30+ years), although that is not the tribe of churches with which my wife & I currently worship. I am highly appreciative of the S-C emphasis--I believe that there are aspects of the S-C message that the church as a whole needs to heed more than it does, just as their are aspects the message of other church groups that the church at large needs to heed more than it (we) does. God raised up that movement for a specific purpose in the history of the Church (just as he has many others). That said, I am critical of a few aspects of the manifestations of our/their theology and highly critical of some of the manifestations of their/our behavior towards others in the 20th century.
Re: AC's theology, I would say that Garrison is pretty close. In 1900, however, the higher criticism/modernist controversy was beginning to raise its head. Garrison is often seen as an early bulwark of the liberal modernist theology that resulted in the 1927 split that was formalized with the formation of The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) denomination in 1967. If his study is slanted, it would be slightly slanted to emphasize ACs views that could be seen as supportive of the more modernist/liberal perspective (which wasn't really even much of an issue when AC died in 1866).
