This book was recommended by our Pastor a couple of weeks ago and I found it in PDF on several web sites.  I used PDF-Tools to convert to .doc and then edited and saved as a .docx and it looks fairly good so I'm sharing.

4812.A_Simple_Way_To_Pray-v1-Luther.docx

I do have one minor issue and I've not found the correct wording - you can see it in the attached picture highlighted in yellow and with an arrow to pin point the challenge:

Thanks for the book on prayer.

My guess is that the highlighted word should be something like "instilled".

Instilled fits perfectly. Thanks. I was having a mental block on that.

That's spot-on.  I googled it here to double check.

The highlighted section seems to be the same translation as in the American Edition of Luther's Works, vol  43.  Unfortunately I only have this in Logos, and the text is corrupt there...  In general, the Logos edition of Luther's Works could use considerable proof reading...

In print I have it in For All the Saints (a Lutheran Beverary) slightly different translation - from CJ Trapp, published in 1983 by Northwestern Publishing House.  The text there is:

The Fourth Commandment: "Honor your father and your mother."

This commandment teaches me, first, to recognize God as my Creator, who has marvelously endowed me by giving me life through my parents.  I am aware that he has given them a loving heart that cares for me with all diligence as the fruit of their bodies.  They brought me into the world, fed me and watched over me with the utmost concern.  I thank him that he has up to this moment protected me out of trouble, as if every hour he were creating me anew.  The devil, on the other hand, begrudges me every living moment.

I see that the proposed reading has been verified...

Peace, Dear Brother!                             and ....    hearty thanks for a simple and precious "sharing"       --  Much appreciated, indeed!      *smile*

Excellent!    I look forward to making a PB when I get home!

Just a reminder to various other denominations, we Lutherans (along with the Roman Catholics and some others count the commandments differently than others of you!       *smile*to

Sorry that I'm highjacking this thread a little; however, I wanted Jack Caviness to know I did pray for him and his loved ones and a few other things as I flew over Western North Carolina -- and I prayed for Alabama24 and his family as I flew over Western Virginia this past Sunday.

Right now, courtesy of my daughter who lives here and her generosity with air line tickets, I'm sitting at her desk in her condo behind a picture window overlooking the harbour at George Town, Grand Cayman!

Displayed in front of me right now is the Caymanian Pirate ship which takes people out in swashbuckling adventures (for a fee!!!) - a tourist submarine that goes down to the reefs about 100 feet was heading back to port about 1/2 hour ago the - also the Royal Caribbean Navigator of the Seas that discharged up to 3500 people into George Town this morning - also Club Med 2 Crosieres that only has about 300 passengers in a state of high luxury!  Tomorrow there are 4 Cruise Ships scheduled with the possibility of more than 13,000 people coming ashore if they feel like it!      Incredible!       *smile*    One year we were visiting here; and I parked myself right in downtown George Town, watching tourists, of whom I was one!         *smile*

Obviously I'm enjoying myself before I have to head back to a Canadian Winter next Sunday!  Tonight my wife and I are being treat to sushi and sashimi!

Do I ever love Vacation Time holidays!    Please rejoice with me!         *smile*      Don't hate me!         I'll rejoice with you when God permits good to happen on you!  Indeed!       *smile*

My Logos Bible Resources are working for me - all 4 iPad apps (!) - Biblia.com -- Bible.FaithLife.com --      I miss my desktop; however to install it on my daughter's computer for just a few days is hardly worth it for me.      But, I have access to everything except some resources that the publishers won't allow to go mobile!

Have also said a few prayers for the Logos Team and Bob and his family!        *smile*           As well as for my Brothers and Sisters in a General Way on these Logos Forums!

And, of course, the Logos Forums work well courtesy of my daughter's Wi-Fi!          *smile*

I realized that while I don't have the print version that volume of Luther's Works, I do have a collection that has that writing in that translation - William Russell's Praying for Reform.  I have verified that it also has "instilled" there.

Just now checked Logos (CPH) vol 43 and it is in error ....

" and how he has given me life through my parents and has ins ed in them the desire to care for me, the fruit of their bodies, with all their power. He has brought me into this world, has sustained and cared for me, nurtured and educated me with great diligence, carefulness, and concern, through danger, trouble, and hard work."

Logos sells this (it's in Volume 43 of Luther's Works), so it should probably not be posted here. Here's a Logos link to it, in case you have Luther's Works in your Library.
