Can someone explain the difference?

What is the difference between Noet and Logos? I am especially wondering how it differs when I already have certain Noet resources (e.g. Harvard Classics, Perseus books, etc.) in Logos. Is the difference only in the resources? Can I download Noet and use resources I already have in Logos? Why would I want to do that?

I find myself once again looking at Logos marketing materials, and wondering why basic questions are not answered. Help would be appreciated.

You won't need to download Noet. It's just a platform for reading and studying books minus all the biblical features, so you've already got a superset of it since you own Logos.

As for the resources, even those are actually Logos resources. The Noet website is merely a way to market them to non-Christians who wouldn't want to buy stuff from a Bible study company. Currently it just redirects users to the Logos website to buy the resources, but I am assuming it is eventually going to be fully built out like the Vyrso website, so people will be able to log on there and buy the resources there. If you already have the resources, you don't need to buy the Noet versions. It's just a branding thing, but the content is the same.

The intent of Logos for Noet is that it will enable the same level of study for classics, so yes tagging is supposed to be of the same scale.

I cannot comment as to whether or not that is happening.

Noet is really for people who are interested in studying the Greek/Latin classics, but not really interested in studying the Bible. Logos will build a new version of Logos 5 that will have a user interface that de-emphasises or removes the Bible Study aspects. So, for example, I would expect "Prayer List" to be removed from the Documents menu, "Bible Facts" from the Tools menu and "Bible Word Study" to be renamed as "Word Study". The Home Page will do doubt also be redesigned, and the Topic Guide will probably also go. The exegetical and Passage Guides will probably all need some tweaking.

The advantage for existing Logos customers is that resources that are developed primarily for Noet will also be available and work in Logos 5 too. It's possible that in the future, new tools might be developed specifically for Noet customers, but none of us know about that yet, nor whether those tools (if developed) would also become available to Logos users.

Could you download Noet and use resources I already have in Logos? I think it's highly likely that Noet and Logos5 won't be able to co-exist, because they'll be the same programme, just with a different interface. It's possible that if you're a Noet and a Logos customer you'll be able to switch between the Logos interface and the Noet interface (Verbum/Logos users can do this already).
