Adoniram Judson - BIG pricing issue
I ALWAYS price-check. When I saw a great deal on a good biography on Amazon I wanted to get it in Logos/Vyrso format, but was astonished at the price difference:
Adoniram Judson (Amazon) - 2.99
Adoniram Judson (Vyrso) - 11.99
- as it stands right now, this title is 300% (4x) more expensive in Vyrso, than in Kindle format.
but even then, at 208 pages it is pretty steep for $11.99.
A commentary (with a ton of links) Be Available by Warren W. Wiersbe is at 210 pages and costs 9.95.
Josephus and the New Testament by Steve Mason, 248 pages, also a ton of links only 9.95 in Logos.
- How can (in principle) a trade book be more expensive, than a Logos resource?
I am not going to jump to conclusions and assume evil intentions by Logos. However, I would like them to look into this. If it is a publisher promotion, maybe they can also make it available in Vyrso. If it is only an Amazon promotion, would it be possible for Logos to match the price? If there is a simple computer pricing glitch, can it be corrected?

I'm too lazy right now to investigate this, but some thoughts:
toughski said:How can (in principle) a trade book be more expensive, than a Logos resource?
Because the publisher charges more for one book than the other.
toughski said:If it is a publisher promotion, maybe they can also make it available in Vyrso.
Only if the publisher extends Logos the offer.
toughski said:If it is only an Amazon promotion, would it be possible for Logos to match the price?
No.
toughski said:If there is a simple computer pricing glitch, can it be corrected?
Yes.

Alabama, your statement is not accurate. (I am sorry. The following post deals with publisher promotion.) Please see this post. Also, I was not asking whether they COULD do it, but WOULD they do it.
Also, the same pricing issue extends to Andrew Fuller biography

Adoniram Judson (Amazon) - 2.99
That's showing up as $20.24 for Kindle, and $19.20 in paperback, for me. I'd grab the Vyrso edition whilst it's still $11.99 [:)].

That's kind of funny. If Vyrso has thousands of books, do you expect them daily verify the prices with amazon?

Alabama24's answer is correct. Logos does not have a policy of matching prices with competitors. So the answer is; Yes Logos can but they generally will not. Feel free to ask them though. You may get it.
price match denied Logos needs to revisit book prices They won't. Been asked before.
probably can't price match Logos needs a price match guarantee comparing Vyrso prices to Amazon prices
no promise to price match Logos will not price match, but they may give you a better deal than the website if you call.

really bad argument.
Do you know what Sam Walton did in his little-bitty store? He created a "will honor any competitor's ad for an in-stock item" policy. Let the customer buy an overpriced title on Vyrso and then call the Customer service to get price adjusted in form of Logos credit: win-win. Customer makes the commitment first, he has the burden of proof and Logos gets a satisfied repeat customer.

probably can't price match
sorry, wrong argument! As you should well know there is a world of difference between a Logos title and Vyrso. I am talking about Vyrso titles being price matched. And even the first link you supply mentions a successful price matching by Logos in the past.
This is the "survival of the fittest" game. Even Apple understands that, that is why it resorted to conspiracy with publishers and price fixing. There is got to be a better way for Vyrso to recapture lost sales from customers opting to buy cheaper Kindle titles. I really do want for Logos/Vyrso to succeed, but I don't see it long-term (10 years) if they continue to be consistently more expensive than Amazon

Check the additional links I added. I still maintain that Logos does not have a price matching policy on Logos or Vyrso. It is a corporate decision that seems to span the entire catalogue of offerings. There may be contractual issues behind that behaviour.
I would welcome price matching in Vyrso.

by the way, I found a price-matching post by Logos that deals with Vyrso/Amazon:
emphasis minePhil Gons said:We're still evaluating where to land on pricing. However, we've just made a significant adjustment that I think you'll find much more competitive. We may not always be able to match Amazon, but I think you'll find us much closer now (and for books under $10 DLP, we'll often beat them).

I read that as non-committal. But however you read it, I suggest you ask them to price match. You have nothing to lose and may possibly come out favourably. I am not at all against it. I am just saying I have never heard Logos or Vyrso make a promise of price matching.

Here is a good idea:
Buy the Kindle version and make a PB out of it.. You will then have it in both formats.
This poster says it only takes a few minutes. [;)]

OK, I had my nap. [:)]
The price in Vyrso is the same as at CBD ($11.99). It is two dollars cheaper than on Barnes & Noble's Nook ($13.99). Amazon either has a special promotion with the publisher (B&H), or it is a loss leader. If this were me (I don't care to get this book), I would probably grab it on Amazon. If I KNEW when the promotion was ending on Kindle, I might wait for a response from Logos, but the answer is highly likely to come back in the negative for a price match. If you snooze, you might lose. That is my 2 cents.

I get the $2.99 price when I'm not signed in, which presumably means it's a promotional price only available in the US. Vyrso's price, however, is good anywhere in the world. It's just another example of that price differences between retailers is not always as simple as it appears to be. You look at the price and think Vyrso is very expensive. Someone outside the US looks at the price and thinks Vyrso is very cheap.

That's what I thought until I checked and found that I too get the lower price. Is your price amazon.co.uk?

No, it's .com
On .co.uk I get a price of £13.22, which equates to $20.21.

I'm an idiot! I should have noticed the $$'s instead of ££'s.[:$]
But it must have something to do with you being in Britain, rather than just outside the US. From Sweden I can't order Kindle books from anywhere but amazon.com. The other amazon sites refuse to even give me a price, and tell me to go to .com to buy. And .com sometimes won't give me the price I know is available in the US, but this time it does.

I'm sorry that a number of you missed out on the discount for Adoniram Judson, the publisher was running a price promotion on the title with Vyrso July 23, 2013 through July 30, 2013. I'm not sure how/why Amazon has been able to extend the offer longer, my only assumption is they are deciding to take a loss on the sales of the ebook.
To stay updated on all publisher sponsored discounts I recommend following this list: http://vyrso.com/products/search?Genre=Best+Deals&start=&sort=savings&pageSize=15

Amazon is up to $11.99 whether I'm signed in or not so I guess that settles things . Perhaps they goofed in offering the price longer than the publisher would reimburse them for. Amazon makes pricing mistakes all the time and customers often benefit from them. I guess that helps explain why their profit margins are almost non-existent. And Jeff's still got enough coin to buy a newspaper in this day and age!
