Parallels, allusions, antiphons etc. for the Magnificat
This should be compiled as a harmony. Please let me know of available additions.
Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

I'm shocked at what Logos 5 can do! OooohhhHHH!!! The Beauty of it! Thank you so much!
Within 24 hours I will be sharing that file with my Pastor! Again, thank you!
Here's the cover picture I found on the Internet that seemed appropriate to me as I've been thinking about the beauty of The Magnificat for over most of my 77 years! God sending His Son ..... for me! ...for you! *smile*
Philippians 4: 4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. 5 Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand..........

Thank you, M. J.
A fascinating resource, especially in light of the way Luke begins his gospel.
(N T Wright points out that Luke is following the structure of 1 Samuel, beginning with a temple scene that leads to the providential birth of the prophet who points out the coming king.)

The New Testament and the People of God (SPCK, 1992), page 379ff, starting with this paragraph:
The story of Elizabeth and Zechariah in Luke 1:5–25, 39–45, 57–80 is without a doubt intended to take the reader’s mind back to the story of Hannah and Elkanah in 1 Samuel 1:1–2:11. This time it is the father (Zechariah). not the mother (Hannah), who is in the Temple, and he is himself a priest, not merely appearing before one as Hannah does before Eli. But the story has not only the same shape (the couple whose longing for a child is taken up within the divine purpose) but also the same triumphant conclusion (Hannah’s song is picked up by both Mary’s and Zechariah’s). And in both there is a longer purpose waiting to be uncovered, a purpose which encompasses the message of judgment and salvation for Israel.
