Logos Mobile Education & Community Pricing

I am very happy with the results of the first (and only) Logos mEd. Community Pricing experiment. I was under the impression we would see more listed in CP but it has not happened. The latest Logos mEd offering is $1199 ! I fear we are going the wrong direction.

Can we have more mEd CPs?

Apparently there are adequate numbers of people who pay those prices. Fair enough. They are happy and Logos is profitable.

I have come to the same conclusion. As long as enough people are willing to pay the higher price there is little incentive for Logos to go the CP route. The John course was clearly a marketing effort to get people to try mEd. There is nothing wrong with this, it just created false hopes.

I hope Logos keeps the price down for more people to participate and continue to participate. The current pre-pub price is still high for many people. In relating to sharing the costs of production, the cost of enrolling in a course at colleges or seminaries is very stable from one semester to the next. Why the price jumps so much after pre-pub? The price has to be affordable/attractive enough for us to continue participating in more courses, and recommend to our friends courses currently available, and/or on pre-pubs. I pray that Logos keeps these courses more accessible to wider participants.

Guess what I just did! I went through my Pre-Pubs and cancelled all my Logos Mobile Education orders. And....while at it, I cancelled my John Pre-Pub that I had locked in at the Community Pricing. [:'(] What is the chance Customer Service can re-instate it at that price?

Well, yes and no. It went for a low price. I am happy with that. But i have no idea the content yet. I am waiting to see what I bought before considering buying more.

Logos has been very clear that they are a NOT (bold letters) a "ministry"; they are a "for-profit business." They are running a business model intended for profit, not for providing access to low-priced products to people. See here. Probably many Christians in business reading this are doing the same thing whether you are a retailer or a plumber or a school teacher. Presumably whatever shows up on CP is intended as maximum profit marketing.

If we get a great deal--be thankful! I am very happy with the deals I have gotten through Logos. If you are looking for "ministry-to-Christians" products at low prices--Logos isn't your place to shop--that is NOT who they are or what they do.

Having said that, I wonder how many high quality free books I now have? How many fantastically good deals. Thanks Logos!

Greetings everyone. I just thought I would introduce myself. I’m John Schwandt, the new Executive Director of Mobile Ed. Keith knows me from my days of teaching Greek online. (BTW, thanks for the posts.) We are continuing to push full steam ahead with a large number of top tier courses in the pipeline. (You can catch announcements of these on the academic blog.) I’m so excited to see what a large number of these courses will do for a library. I’m envisioning a point where I can expect a short video segment from a top tier professor for most of my library searches. (It will be like having a dream team seminary faculty at my service continually.) We are also committed to delivering these courses to many different areas of the market. I would ask for some patience as we work through some experiments to determine the best ways to serve you all and continue to produce these high-end courses. CP has not been ruled out for future offerings. Historically, products on pre-pub or live products have not typically moved to CP, but rather like Withington's course, products have started there. I would love to see a new thread for new course recommendations. Thanks for all of the support and interest in the project.

I gave myself two early Christmas presents, including the 6 course Craig Evans bundle and the Western Civilization course. I was forced to cancel all CP bids, but it was well worth it.
