Is it still possible to Sync your L3/Libronix license?

Hi,
I am trying to sync my L3/Libronix license, but Libronix keeps on telling me that I need an internet connection. My internet connection is fine and my Firewall allows Libronix to connect to the internet. Has the ability to sync also been stopped with support?

No, Libronix should sync fine. If the firewall really lets it through, maybe an anti-virus system blocks in between, or a Logos server is under maintenance?

It's not working today. I just reinstalled Libronix on my laptop and had to use a backup file

It IS working right now! *smile* I just "synced" my Libronix successfully! Within the last 5 minutes!
Peace!

I can't sync licenses. Not working for me. Closed all antivirus, and still doesn't work.

Strictly, this is not essential as you can make a local backup of licences for re-installation purposes. But it may become necessary if you are planning to migrate to Logos 4/5?

Logos did confirm over the phone that the Libronix Server that was used in Logos 3 (Libronix) for Syncing Licenses is no longer available, however, there are some work arounds.
You do not have any firewall or internet problems. The problem is not on your end of the internet, it is on Logos end where the problem is. They still have the ability to provide license updates, just not through the Libronix Server, ergo, the no internet connection message, which is really fine, but just noting it can not find the Libronix server which no longer exists, so it assumes you must not be connected to the internet which most likely is not true.
Now instead of automatically uploading and downloading the licenses via the Libronix server which no longer exists, you have to do the separate uploads and downloads manually via email License file attachments as follows:
For License Downloads:
If your issue is to get other books you purchased through their website or other Logos 4 or Logos 5 base package resources to become active in Libronix where such resources did have an Libronix version (where as newer resources are not made to work in Logos 3, but older ones that have been out there a while still work) then a simple call to Customer Service and ask them to prepair your Logos License for Libronix and send you an email with that attachment, and that will fix you up. I had that done just last week, they send a License Update Patch in my eMail in the form of a zip file. Just download, unzip and just execute that patch, which will automatically open Libronix Update and places all your latest licenses in Libronix including unlocks for all Logos 4 and Logos 5 stuff that may not exist in Libronix, but also every Libronix resource you are supposed to have.
For License Uploads:
If on the other hand you have purchased new CDs with newer resources that have not yet been logged into your Logos Account and that is the reason you were syncing your Licenses so you can get access to those resources in Logos 4 and/or Logos 5, there is another method. Then just go to your pull down menu Tools > Library Management > Backup Licenses and save your current licenses under a backup file name you can find and in a location you can find it, then attached the file as an eMail attachment and send it to Logos Customer Service and ask they update the Contents of that License Package to your Account.
Should you need to do both (update your licenses and download new stuff) do the latter first sending them your backup licenses file and request they update your account and then send you the email of your license update after they updated our account so you can get the latest they have on file. That is what the software sync did automatically for you before the Libronix Server was discontinued.
Hope you all find this helpful!

P.S. those earlier posts of failure to Sync before the Libronix Server was discontinued, there were times when the Server would be down for maintenance. That would explain one person not able to sync, and another at a later time syncing fine. Even I ran into that in the past when their Server was down for maintenance or backing up their system, and then later it worked fine. Just a mater of timing, however, that is not the issue as Logos is trying to wean us off Libronix to get us to move on to there later platforms that no longer work on our older computers and operating sytems.
Just did not want to confuse the earlier posters on this forum so they know there could have been other reasons it did not work, but now you all know there is a work around to accomplish the same, but with a bit more work our your part.
Best wishes all.

Ricky, which representative did You talk to on the phone? I'm on the phone right now, have bought new books, and they are unable to help me, although it may also be because it's a Saturday. I did explain how it works and the representative I talked to said she understood what was missing although this procedure being possible was news for her so perhaps she didn't understand all of it.
EDIT: I'll subscribe to this thread now, You may post, and then remove the post if You wish for the name of the rep not to go public.Disclosure!

Dear Unix, you did not specify what you were trying to get them to do for you (Upload or Download your license).
I don't know what person I talked to, but will recheck my email, but that was for a download of my latest purchases and logos freebies, not an upload of what was on my Computer.
What I explained before is that I know they can give you a Libronix License update download in an email attachment.
What I also explained before, is that in theory, but not yet been tested to know if they will actually do it, the theory is that you should be able to do the reverse by sending them an eMail attachment of your current license backup from your PC. I had also explained you would first need to call them and ask them first if they can process your current license should you send it to them in an email attachment upload.
Even without, sending them your license backup file, you can also give them your product Serial Number and Activation Code for each library you own from your disks, and they should be able to add those to your license records assuming they were not already licensed to someone else first. Logos will not grant you a license to products that someone else currently owns. That is the problem with purchasing USED Libronix libraries, is that they are licensed to someone else, and they have to personally contact Logos to transfer their license for that product library to you for a small fee (used to be $20.00, don't know the current fee). Unused CDs are no problem, but used ones have to have a transfer fee with the prior owner contacting Logos to initiate that transfer, so Logos knows you did not get an unauthorized copy without purchasing it new. Some second hand bookstores are selling used libraries, not being aware others can not use them without the permission from the prior owner to transfer the licenses. That may be because that was not a problem with version 2.0 for the used bookstores in the past, but now is with version 3.0 and later.
On the other hand if you purchased unused Libronix Libraries, and there are still many of those out there for sale, those CDs have the Product Serial Number and Activation Code information with the library and Logos can update your libraries over the phone via that Serial Number and Activation Code printed with your product. After Logos updates your account with that information, such licenses are then available to Logos 4 and logos 5 with the latest versions of those books. Also once they have added those licenses to your account, as I said before, they can then send you an email with the Libronix License Update zip file with the very latest data from your Logos Account to you to add all those unlocks to your Libronix library.
So to get it all straight, we are talking apples and oranges, two separate things, meaning Downloading latest Libronix Licenses via a Logos Customer Service email attachment, and the possibility of uploads of your license, if they can tell you they can read it to update their files for your account. The latter is the questionable part the person you talked to may have had trouble with, but the first part they definitely can do, as they have done that several times for me to get my new Logos monthly freebies unlocked in my Libronix Library.
If you have older Logos 2.0 or 2.1 CD libraries, they are handled differently than the latter Libronix 3.0 stuff. In version 3.0 they made the library specifically licensed to the single purchasing user so you have to have a matching Serial Number and Activation Code unique to only 1 user and no one else. Logos 2.0 or 2.1 CDs have a generic license that is included on the disc and are not tied to a single specific user, and as a result some have sold their CDs to someone else without the Logos transfer fee. How that worked, is you first installed Logos Libronix 3.0, then insert your Logos 2.0 or 2.1 CD and the Installer will add all those books and their License to Libronix 3.0. Once those licenses are in Libronix 3.0, that is where the Sync was handy because then all those generic 2.0 and 2.1 books were added to your online account and automatically available in all the Logos updates, Logos 4, Logos 5, etc.
If that is your case, I can see the need to sync (which is no longer available) or see if they will allow you to email them a copy of your license directly from your PC so they can process it to register all your unregistered Logos 2.0 or Logos 2.1 resources. That is the part that I said in theory they should be able to do, but I have never done that with them before, because all my uploads of my older resources were done when the Libronix Server was still running and I was able to automatically sync all my older licenses into my account for automatic upgrades to the newer Logos Platforms.
I suspect, that along with a few other reasons I prefer not to mention here, is why they discontinued the Libronix Server and the ability to Sync licenses because they could not control or get paid a transfer fee for upgrades from the older Logos 2.0 and 2.1 libraries, because more that one person might be using those same generic licenses that were not linked to any single user.
Another reason referred to above that I did not mention concerns things I read on another forum, however, I do not wish to start any more trouble with Logos than I already did with the issue that Logos still refuses to tell customers which versions any new resource will work with, and they recently told me they most likely will not for any time soon in the future. I got enough heat over that issue, and do not wish to stir up another hornets nest.
I just checked my emails with the Libronix update attachments. The email omitted the Customer Representative's name. I will cut and past what it said, after editing out my personal account info so you can see what it says and know what to call it with your Customer Representative you get on the phone.
RE: Restoring Your Digital Library Licenses
Dear Ricky xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx,
Thank you for your inquiry. Your Libronix DLS Activation information is:
Customer ID: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Confirmation Code: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
You can enter them in the Account Management window.
-or-
Attached is a special update file that will add any missing or new products to the existing Libronix License on your computer (You can achieve the same result by going to Tools>Library Management>Synchronize Licenses). [We know this part no longer works]
Follow these instructions to update your License information:
1. Make sure you have version 2.0 or greater of the Libronix Digital Library System.
- You can check your version in the program under Help > About Libronix DLS. If you need to update you can do that through Tools > Libronix Update while online.
2. Save the file to your Desktop. To save the file, right click on the attachment and choose Save (it may appear as Save Target As or Save As). Make sure the Save In box is set to Desktop.
3. Close the Libronix Digital Library System.
4. After the file is finished downloading, double-click on the file on your Desktop. You will see a Libronix Update window appear.
5. Click "Update".
If you receive a message stating No Updates Are Available, this means that all the books you own are already unlocked on your computer. If you are still missing books or features, please contact Customer Service.
Thank you for using the Libronix Digital Library System!
Sincerely,
Logos Bible Software Customer Support

Send inquiries to customerservice@logos.comThat email did have the zip file attachment with my Licenses. Just tell them you want to "Restoring Your Digital Library Licenses" for your libronix library from an email update they can send you, since the Server no longer syncs our licenses.
Just an interesting side note. If you open your Libronix and pull down the Help Menu and select Alerts you read the following message:
Libronix Alerts Messages:
Important Message about Libronix Resource Creation
As we announced at the beginning of the year, new Libronix Resources are no longer being created. We won't disable Libronix/Logos 3, and we're not retroactively removing anything. The books you own today will continue to work in Libronix. There will still be support help available on Logos.com, and you can also visit the Logos forums anytime for help. Seems to me, ending the Libronix Server so we can no longer sync our licenses, is contrary to that notice, don't you think?

Sorry I forgot to specify!:
Ricky Daugherty said:Dear Unix, you did not specify what you were trying to get them to do for you (Upload or Download your license).
It would be the downloading of latest Libronix licenses via Customer service. So that I get a file. I've purchased lots of books since the last time I synced licenses (which was when the server was still up at the beginning of Summer 2014). I was even thinking of spending more, but when this started to look hard to do yesterday I'm hesitant to spend more right now. If it would seem more likely that it could be done, it would be a good thing:Ricky Daugherty said:So to get it all straight, we are talking apples and oranges, two separate things, meaning Downloading latest Libronix Licenses via a Logos Customer Service email attachment, and the possibility of uploads of your license, if they can tell you they can read it to update their files for your account. I'm also yet to redeem an unused Libronix 3 CD-ROM. But that's less important and it wasn't expensive. And I haven't decided whether I should have the resources, or whether I should give it to a friend for whom I've created a separate account. There used to be a "reedem-page". I have never tried it to see whether it still works, perhaps it's also broken since the license sync server is down, I guess so.I managed to get my Logos 2.1 book which was something I bought new about 13⅔ years ago - to Logos 4 - I was in touch with a rep, perhaps I should turn to him again with the download of my entire current Libronix license. It was not long ago, it was this Summer.
Thanks for all the instructions, Ricky! I wish I knew how exactly to ask the next time I call and/or email. I guess it's easier for them to say no in an email, but on the other hand on the phone they have a better chance of explaining why it wouldn't be possible (why they won't).
That's not a problem for me. I find it fairly easy to see approximately which resources have Libronix resource files. And I also really have enough existing purchases. In fact I've think I won't be clicking more in the Store. I have a number of resources for which I'm saving money in the long term. A few items that are still bundled, would be interesting, but they are only a few. To see if a resource will have a Libronix resource file, the easiest thing to do is to estimate the age of resource - i.e. when it came out of pre-pub. If I can't remember seeing the resource 1⅔ years ago or earlier, I do a search on the forums to see if it was discussed being shipped or being live at some point in time, and that date gives me a clear indication of whether a Libronix resource file is available, and I've memorized the few exceptions from the date-rule:Ricky Daugherty said:Another reason referred to above that I did not mention concerns things I read on another forum, however, I do not wish to start any more trouble with Logos than I already did with the issue that Logos still refuses to tell customers which versions any new resource will work with, and they recently told me they most likely will not for any time soon in the future. Dear Unix:
Glad to hear you finally had success. Just sorry I was not able to help you at the earlier stages of our discussion.
I just hope that I was helpful, however, if you kept in touch with Logos Customer Service, you would have eventually gotten it all straightened out without my help.
Just hope my posts do help others that did not know you could get your licenses downloaded via a Logos C.S. email attachment.

Unix:
Today I see the notice that Logos 6 was just released, and as a result the Logos.com website is not working correctly, presumably because of the flood of customers checking out the new product. Every time I go to Logos.com home page, it keeps timing out then asks if I want to save the webpages on my hard drive, but will not display in my browser. On faithlife blog pages, discussing the release, they claim they have over 2 million users that they have to send emails to let us know about the new version. Might have some impact on why the home page will not load.
Can't help but wonder if today's release of Logos 6 had something to do with the ending of the Libronix Server that prevents us from being able to sync our licenses, because now we are another generation removed from the current Version 6. Not to mention they want to wean us off the older versions and convince us to upgrade to the latest version so we have to pay more money to get the newer cross grade databases to allow the newer versions to run, just like they did for Logos 4, and Logos 5, each time while providing the engine free, but charging for the databases that make its newer features to actually work.
I just finished paying off my payment plan for Logos 4 which was supposedly obsolete within a month after I started my payments as Logos 5 just came out. Now I am on a Logos 5 payment plan for a larger base package, and now it is obsolete with Logos 6 out, unless I spend more to upgrade. I say obsolete, since they will produce resources that will no longer work in Logos 5, 4, 3, and 2. Sure we can still use our current resources, but if I want new resources, I will be forced to upgrade, which will not work on my laptop.
I just remembered they do have massive updates all logos customers are downloading tonight, so that could also contribute to the freezing of the Logos.com home page, but I suspect the release of Logos 6 and all those emails during this time of massive downloads, they really did not plan this release very well.

I hear You. Previously the L4 Minimal Crossgrade had a fair price (i.e. until it was still available separately), considering it contained all the reverse interlinears which had all been produced in-house. L5 Core Datasets and Minimal Crossgrade had more non-essentials added among some somewhat good things (thinking of Clause Search which I never got so I don't know what exactly I'm missing or at least I'm not thinking about it). Just before the L6 launch the L5 Minimal Crossgrade was on a sale. And no, I would not have bought it since I hate the idea of "Bible Sense Lexicon".
The prices are dynamic. Also, You get the L6 Core Crossgrade down to $339.96, which a friend has scheduled to pay for on Monday Nov. 3. if he should decide to start using, together with other big purchases, as a new user with no Minimal Crossgrades since before or L5 Core Datasets or L4-L5 base-packages. For L5 base-package owners such as me on a Bronze/Verbum Foundations+ level, the L6 Core Datasets is $160.
Summary: The different new L6 crossgrade options all contain everything from both L4 and L5. Although they don't contain Hebrew Audio Pronuncations add-on which may be considered the most recent L5 dataset.
Still no demand in this thread for me to post and remove the post saying the name of the friendly customer service rep, but I will if two subscribe.

I don't think obselete is the proper term.
You don't lose resources, the new engine is free, its just the new datasets that change and you can get away with a crossgrade (the big one is 189$ on dynamic pricing for me).L2 lvl4 (...) WORDsearch, all the way through L10,

Dear abondservant:
I stand by what I said, while you are also correct about your facts. However, The Logos Software Engine is what is obsolete, and I already pointed out our old resources still worked, but if we want any of the new resources, our Logos Software Engine is what is obsolete. That qualifies under the definition of obsolete.
Plus they usually do not tell the unsuspecting consummers that the Logos Software Engine if free. You have to either search for that info, or wait until they release that information later on after they have already made a lot of money selling new base packages to those who are mislead to believe they have to upgrade to get the new version, as I was for Logos 4 to Logos 5 upgrade. I was tricked to buy the Gold Upgrade and then months later, I got notices for the free upgrade, without the datasets.
And you missed the point, I already said there were Crossgrades which are the database files I mentioned, and that is what we have to pay for, and that is what Logos wants to do--to upgrade, which is more money in their pocket, either with new base packages, or at the minimum for the Crossgrades. Either way, to use the upgrades (as an upgrade to benefit from the newer features), it does cost more money. Yes, the upgrade without the datasets will still run the previous stuff, so why upgrade for free if you do not get the benefit of the upgrades, you can easily stay where you are since you say it is not fair to call it obsolete. That is until they start withdrawing support as they recently did with Libronix just before this new version was to be released.
It was only a few months ago I was still able to sync my Libronix libraries with their server, but that server no longer exists.

Ricky, still I would expect many books to continue to be shipped for L4. It's for example the books with the latest Logos Controlled Vocabulary that need special tagging that need a late version of L5 to run such as the New Interpreter's Dictionary of the Bible (which I think is excellent - I've had it on paper since before it became available and now with two Logos accounts). Even though that update for NIDB probably still hasn't shipped they told us it would run on L5.
Speaking of which I just managed to get the Libronix license file emailed regarding the spare Logos account which I'm trying to sell to someone who would research together with me. If I don't get it sold I may perhaps use it myself, an option would be to merge the accounts (either mine with the spare, or the friend's (if having Logos since before) with the spare if selling it), another option is to return what's been purchased within 30 days which is most of the account. I don't want to see Logos thinking I want L6, so I might kick the tires of it and L5 Clause Search with the spare account (as well as use what's there with L3) - with an L6 Core Crossgrade in the spare account. Nothing prohibits duplicating some items - I think they have to make some money out of that. New Interpreter's Bible (Commentary) is also a duplicate when considering I have it in Accordance. But I want to solve this situation within days from now by Nov 1.

Now I might have found a future user for the spare account. He is really interested in research. But he certainly needs time to decide (a) topic(s). He was fascinated about computerized possibilities, but I don't know if L6 Core Crossgrade is the right option - well at least it's the cheapest current option (L4 and L5 Minimal Crossgrades not being sold any longer since Monday) and I would suppose there's a dynamic pricing still valid later on although they do get a premium from step-by-step purchases (compared to high first purchase).
At least relevant to these latest two posts, there's an interesting thread started by a user who's been a Logos user since about day one, and who is not finding any value in L6 crossgrade(s?): Cross-grade (extended).

I have an older disk that I have been reading for years on my xp computer. Logos will not allow me to unlock it on my new Windows 7 computer because I cannot remember the email address I registered with way back when. There is no serial number on the disk or on the sleeve it came in. I have searched my old computer and cannot find a serial number that is stored there, although my resource opens. I have to say that I am amazed at the lack of concern or helpfulness on the part of Logos. The only reply I have gotten is "sorry."

Welcome to the forums anane. It is best if you start a new thread. Is there any reason that you want to install Libronix rather than the free Logos 7 engine? If Libronix was installed and synced, all of your resources will download with Logos 7, provided you use the same email address.

How about this reason for still using Libronix: Logos abandoned several features like user created timelines, and several videos that some of us have in Libronix that is abaolutely NOT available in any of the newer versions including Logos 7! Also some resources were discontinued and only still available in our older Libronix licenses, but vacant in the newer Logos licenses. Ergo, they did not upgrade to Logos 7 just like some of my videos did not.
I personally still use both Libronix for my abandoned resources and Logos 7 for the newer stuff that was created later after end of support for Libronix.
It was not fair for Logos to abandon several features that were in Libronix. Logos owner said it was because feedback indicated they were not used enough to reprogram in the newer Logos engines. But that feedback excluded all of us that choose not to provide feedback of our use of Libronix.
