New Feature: Send to Kindle
Note: This feature will be retired on 3/31/16. See this post for details.
What is it?
Link your Kindle account to Logos and send your favorite resources to your mobile device. This gives you more freedom in how you interact with your digital library.
How it works
After linking your Kindle account information with your Logos account, you can send individual books to your Kindle device from the resource panel menu (within the software). All bible references should open in the Lexham English Bible.
A kindle.com email address must be assigned to the account by entering “set kindle to #####@kindle.com” into the command box. Note: You cannot unlink your Kindle account once it has been linked. Please be sure to check your kindle.com address carefully before submitting.
- The Send to Kindle email address must end in kindle.com. You can check the address at Amazon.com > Manage Your Content and Devices > Your Devices.
- Also, you must add “noreply@logos.com” to your Approved Personal Document Email List at Amazon.com > Manage Your Content and Devices > Settings.
- The “Send to Kindle” link is found on the Resource Information tab (i) of each resource (but not Personal Books).
How do I get it?
Send to Kindle Feature is available in all crossgrades and base packages.
For more information, see these 5.3 Beta threads: https://community.logos.com/forums/t/91816.aspx, https://community.logos.com/forums/t/91952.aspx

- A publisher licensing restriction.
- A technical reason / limitation (i.e. file would be too large and Amazon wouldn't allow it).
- A "new" resource (i.e. FL hasn't made the "send to kindle" version yet... <normally> this is within a week of a resource being released... but not always).
How does one do this? Not seeing the send to Kindle link.
The send to kindle capacity does not exist for every resource. For the most part it is resources that are available for the mobile platform.
I have found that the implementation is now more hit than miss, but there are still gaps.
Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.

I've completed the following steps and I "do" see the "Send to Kindle" option with the correct @kindle.com address listed, but so far, the send request runs for a while (says it's sending) but then fails and gives me the option to "resend" it, which also fails.
Steps followed are:
As noted above, at that point, clicking the "Send to Kindle" link starts the send process and runs for a couple of minutes, but it does not end successfully. No error message at that point--just a "Resend to Kindle" option where the original "Send to Kindle" option was in the resource information window.
Have I missed something?

OK, it IS working and it's fine--just a little different than what I was expecting. Won't go into details now as I'm not at a computer, but will do so later today.

OK... at a computer now. Some of the things that threw me are explained below. I'm offering this just in case it might help someone else avoid similar confusion.
When using the Logos Bible app on an Android device the process to get a resource on the device is a very straight-forward "pull" process which provides a logical sequence of good feedback messages and is in total control of adding resources to and removing resources from your mobile device.. I.e. Prior to adding a resource to your device, the resource information window has a "Download" option. When you select it, you get a message that it's "Downloading", followed by a message that it's "Installing", followed by a "Remove" option. The Android device is in total control of adding and removing resources and provides all the info you need to know whether or not a particular resource is currently on your mobile device.
In comparison, the send to Kindle feature is a "push" process which provides less feedback and is not in total control of adding resources to and removing resources from a device. I.e. Before ever sending a resource, it will have the "Send" option. When you select it, you get a message that it's being sent, but not a message confirming the send completed successfully--just a "Resend" option. After sending my first book, I saw the "Resend" option which left me wondering if the send was complete, or if there was a problem and I needed to resend the book. So I checked on my device and on Amazon. I didn't find it in my list of books on the device or on Amazon. I didn't realize my "Book" would be considered a "Document", requiring me to look for it in a documents folder rather than a book list. So I did a "Resend". Still didn't see the "book" on my device or on Amazon. I realized my mistake only after reading through all the posts in this thread.
Also, because Amazon sees the book as a document, rather than a book, you don't see the same icon cover-art that you see when in Logos on a computer or in the Bible app on a mobile device. Instead, you see a generic document icon containing just text--i.e. the book's title.
So, yes... the process works fine and I'm very grateful to Logos to have this feature. They didn't have to provide it, but they did! [:)] Just some initial confusion on my part regarding the process flow.
Even though Logos told me I needed to resend the resources I wanted to load onto my Kindle, the resources made it onto my Kindle the first time anyway.
For clarification: when you see "resend to kindle," Logos isn't telling you that you need to resend, rather it is providing you a button if you need to resend.

I made sure the address shown in the book info page matches my kindle. Amazon makes it really easy to edit this email address.
And it worked like a charm.

This feature isnt available in any of the "stable" releases for Logos 5. You can switch over to the beta channel and try that... with the typical warnings... plus, logos has said that they do not intend to develop the current beta further.
The feature is a standard part of the "Logos 6" base engine. If you want to purchase a new base package OR data sets, you can get the engine now. If you don't want to make a new purchase, the "Logos 6" base engine will be available free to everyone starting in February.

Bradley,
Can you please share why the beta has been removed? Any plans to bring it back later? If it won't, that will be a major disappointment for a lot of people on Logos 5 who had their hopes for the Kindle feature finally raised by the beta.
but no one commented.

Should the Table of Contents automatically work with all books sent to kindle? (If there is a working TOC in Logos?).
It doesn't in:
Short, David, and David Searle. Pastoral Visitation: A Pocket Manual. Fearn, UK: Christian Focus Publications, 2004.
(but Bible references are hyperlinked ok)
Is this a bug that needs to be flagged somewhere?
The TOC didn't work in any of the books I sent to Kindle, making them impossible to navigate.
The TOC didn't work in any of the books I sent to Kindle, making them impossible to navigate.
That's strange. All my Logos-to-Kindle books so far have had working TOCs. The working TOC is at the very beginning of the book (before after the cover image), on the same page where they add that anti-piracy bit ("For the person use of [Your Name] ([your email address) only. Not for redistribution.")
When I entered the command "set kindle account to <e-mailaddress>.kindle.com" it started connecting, but linking failed. After that, Logos doesnt't recognize the command anymore.
Also found that your explanation gives a different command "set kindle to ....". But both aren't recognize. Any way to fix this?

If you have inadvertently set the email address to something OTHER than your actual email address, you will have to speak to customer service. Due to copy protection, this is a "one and done" process on the user side of things.

I can't get this feature to work in Logos 6. When I type the command "set kindle to blah@kindle.com" it keeps changing it to "Search for set kindle to blah@kindle.com":
Is there a way to get this command to go through?
Edit:
This screenshot was taken on the PC. The command was available on my Mac. Running the command on my Mac and restarting Logos on my PC worked.

Odd. It doesn't work on my PC either, but I thought that might be because I've already run the command before. Can anyone else confirm?
This is my personal Faithlife account. On 1 March 2022, I started working for Faithlife, and have a new 'official' user account. Posts on this account shouldn't be taken as official Faithlife views!
Looks great, however it doesn't work for me. I've double checked the send to Kindle address and the authorization address in Amazon (I tried both "noreply@logos.com" and the more general "@logos.com").
Any help on this would be welcome.
Here is a screen shot of the book saying "upload is in progress":
This thread, (instruction for sending books to Kindle)…please amplify some on the points I raise under heading “HOW IT WORKS”…(my comments in bold),
After linking your Kindle account information with your Logos account, you can send individual books to your Kindle device from the resource panel menu (within the software). (This was possibly done, I don’t see how but, I was able to send docs to my kindle…perhaps linkage is not complete?) All bible references should open in the Lexham English Bible. (This, correct me if I’m wrong. means to have LEB as primary bible while sending books to Kindle)
A kindle.com email address must be assigned to the account (where?, in what account?) by entering “set kindle to #####@kindle.com” into the command box. (where is it?) Note: You cannot unlink your Kindle account once it has been linked. (Perhaps I haven’t done this step in linkage, I do not see the “Send to Kindle” option in his screenshot next to downloads) Please be sure to check your kindle.com address carefully before submitting. (I don’t see how this is done. Would you send short explanation or screen shot?)
Thanking you with
Blessings,
John
Should send to kindle work automatically with new products? Eg it doesn't seem to be enabled for Luther's works upgrade 2 which was released in the last week or two.
For those that are interested. I just posted a brief review of the Onyx Boox Afterglow 2.

In my opinion this is a much better solution and I'm finding it to be very functional.
Is this feature only for Logos 6 or for all Logos users? I am running L5 (really, L4 with a L5 crossgrade) and have not seen the "send to kindle" link in the 5 or 6 resource panel menus that I just pulled up. The only link I am seeing is the "manage mobile devices." Secondly, if this is a L6 only feature, will one (or any) of the L6 crossgrades unlock it for me? Thanks in advance.

for clarification: there is a difference between base packages / cross grades and the software engine. The "send to kindle" is a feature of the L6 engine, not of a base package. If you want the feature NOW, you will need to make a purchase. Otherwise you can wait until February when the L6 engine will be free for all.

This is definitely one of the coolest features of Logos 6.
I like reading my books on the Kindle app rather than the Faithlife app. Why? Because I like the ability to control how fast my pages flip. The Faithlife app has a kind of auto-flip when you want to turn a page. I am picky about that. If Faithlife improves that, I would rather read my books on the Faithlife app.
I don't thin so. However, since one has to go through customer service to change your Kindle account, I'd suggest you contact customer service - they would know for certain and would be the ones to do it, if it can be done.

On the Amazon website, in your Kindle settings, make sure personal document archiving is enabled. That way when you send it to one device it will also be archived as part of your amazon account and then on the other device you can view all of your library in the cloud and download from there. (On the device, tap the Home icon in the upper left and then tap the text 'Cloud' or whatever the equiv is depending on which device you have.)
Can I link a second kindle? I would like to add my wife's kindle as well. Thanks in advance.
In order to prevent fraud, no. This is also why users can't manually change the associated email address within L6. As has been mentioned, if you are using the same account, you should be able to download the resource on another device tied to your Amazon account.

Having a bit of a problem here. I had followed the video here: https://www.logos.com/training/logos6/desktop/send-to-kindle
It has some subtle differences than what is in the start of this post, mainly putting in @logos.com (from the video) and "Set Kindle Account to..." vs. just "Set Kindle to...".
I've got both logos.com and noreply@logos.com in Amazon. And my first try of "Set Kindle Account to..." gave me a message that it was linked.
I have the option to send books now, but each time I try, I get a never-ending "Kindle upload in progress". I enabled logging and I have no real clue what the data really means, but does this second line indicate a Logos server issue, my issue, or unrelated?

Logos 6 wasn't working well, so I totally reinstalled it, only to find out that the Send to Kindle no longer exists under manage mobile devices.
I sent an e-mail to tech support many days ago but have not received a reply. I am very disappointed that no-one has replied to my e-mail.
I tried to use the Set Kindle to (kindle address) command, but of course it is not available, since I had previously used it. [:(]

Just ran into an issue that takes the usefulness out of the Send to Kindle feature, at least for me. I'm wondering if anyone has a solution.
First off, the problem isn't with Logos or the Send to Kindle feature itself. That works great and I'm appreciative of the feature.
But what I've found is that, since the books you send are put in the Doc directory of the iPad Kindle app, any highlights you make there don't get sync'd up with Amazon. In fact, I can't find any way to export my highlights from a Logos book in Docs like I can with Amazon-bought books. I can see them all within the app, just can't export them.
Maybe I'm missing something. However, a Google search tells me that this is standard procedure for anything in the Docs portion of the app. Still, I live in hope that someone here may know something I don't on this topic.
If not, it kind of kills this feature for me. Again, not the fault of Logos at all. This one appears to be totally on Amazon.
I'm wondering if anyone has a solution.
Use the Kindle (Android) app if you want things to sync. Send to Kindle is just for reading.

Vyrso books are found in the library along with all other books. They are designated as edition:ebook (or edition:e for short).

24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
Now to my question [;)]
How Do I send a book to my wife's Kindle, when I have already activated my own Kindle? e.g. I have registred husbond@kindle.com but would like my wife to read on wife@kindle.com?
Quick answer - you don't. You hand her your Kindle 'cause after all you are one flesh so you co-operate to your collective benefit.

That isn't necessarily true. I tried explaining it in my post above this (after you posted), but I don't know if I did a good job. I just looked it up, and this is what I can report... As long as he and his wife have the same Amazon Kindle account, he just needs to do the following:
The document (book) will be delivered to her device. Again, this only works when your spouse is using the same account (which is different than the email addresses used for "send to kindle.")

How Do I send a book to my wife's Kindle, when I have already activated my own Kindle?
You can't. Logos is for "one user." Faithlife has graciously interpreted that to include a spouse, so long as the spouse isn't in full time vocational ministry. If you want your wife to be able to have access to the books, she will have to have access to your account.
For licensing and security reasons, Faithlife only allows you to have one email address associated with your "send to kindle." If your wife is using the same Amazon Kindle account, she should be able to download the resource from her device... or you can use the Amazon "manage your device" page... but you can't "send to kindle" from Logos to two separate accounts.
Make sense?

It makes sense, but it also makes you wanna suggest that maybe Logos could consider a solution like Apple and Amazon both have: Family sharing.
For Apple, publishers have to agree... and not everything is "share enabled." I am unaware of Amazon's sharing program. Have a link?

This is AMAZING!! I just sent a book to my Kindle that I need to read to do a book review on, for Seminary. I really like having all my library in Logos for research, but being able to take a book like this on my Kindle is invaluable for just plain reading. It even makes a table of contents, if you use the "go to" option and choose it. Thank you SO MUCH for adding this feature!

Can you send your kindle books to your logos library?
It depends upon what you mean by "can." If you mean, is there a simple way that is Amazon and Faithlife approved, the answer is no. If you mean "is it possible," the answer is possibly. The personal book builder takes any microsoft .docx file and imports it as a book.

Sorry for bumping this topic, but I accidentally spelt my kindle email wrong and can't change it. Can someone help me?
you MUST call customer service. Users don't have the ability to change it, so as to prevent fraud.

Will this work with an Amazon.ca account (i.e. Canadian Amazon account)? If so, can I link both my .com and .ca addresses with my Logos account?
The answer to your first question is "yes". The answer to your second depends on whether you have the same email address registered at both stores. If so, Amazon treats the two accounts as if they were one account, and you'll have no problems. If not, you'll have to choose which account you'll want to link to Logos.

Any plans to make books on Logos accessible to Kobo e-reader devices?
probably not. First, kobo is very small market in the US. Second, the "send to kindle" depends upon a feature by kindle. Does kobo have the same?

I am able to send selected books to my Kindle Account fine. They all show as Documents on my various devices as expected. However, when looking in the Documents folder on my IPod or iPad it displays the expected book cover but not so on my Android devices. I never see the book cover, instead I get only a generic document cover. Other than that it works fine for all potable devices. Any ideas?

Probably a limitation or bug on the Android App...
Question though: Why are you using send to kindle to send books to the kindle app on Android? Why not use one of the many FL apps?

I sometimes read them on my iPad, Galaxy Note 4, etc. when I'm not at home.
Alabama was wondering why you don't use one of the Faithlife apps on those mobile devices as opposed to the Send-to-Kindle route.
With one of the Faithlife apps they would be much more integrated with your desktop - synchronising notes / highlights / position in the book etc

It's a known (and very annoying) issue with Kindle. In fact the only place it works correctly is the iOS app. It shows a generic cover on 'proper' Kindles, too.

Hello,
What should I do to change my send to kindle email address?
Thanks
First, welcome! [:)]
You have two choices. The first, and perhaps easiest, is to actually change the kindle email address on the device itself. If your email address was old_device@kindle.com, release the address from that device (through your account settings on Amazon.com) and change the address on your new device to match the old one.
The only other option is to call FL customer service during business hours and to give them the address of the new device.
Users aren't allowed to change the "send to" address as a protection against fraud.

I am just wondering if you highlight and turn pages after you send to Kindle device, does it update on Logos?
And for one more bit of clarification: the "send to kindle" feature is designed for sending books to the eBook reader line of "kindles" (i.e. paper white). The kindle FIRE tablets are capable of running the android version of the mobile app and can do highlighting synced with Logos.

When I type set kindle account to ####@kindle.com in command box, it is going to search for it...
It is impossible for me to establish the task.
I have set everything correct in Amazon account.
Followed all the instructions but still does not work.
Can somebody give me some advise?
Thanks.
Some additional info: I am using Logos 6 and am on a Mac (El Capitan)
I have read all the comments how to do it...
So, to clarify my problem...In Logos 6 it seems that when I type set account to....@kindle.com or in command box Logos 6, it is going to search for it.
I also followed the instructions given by instruction-film and still did not get any positive result.
Thanks again for the help.
I also typed in: set kindle to...@kindle.com as suggested by various helpful persons on this forum.
It is still going to search for it...

Have you previously used the command? Are you sure you typed it in right the first time? This is a "one time deal." If you make a mistake, you must give customer service a call.
To check and see if you have a kindle email address associated with your account, view the bottom of a resource's info panel (see screen shot). If you have an email listed, you will get the behavior you describe. NOTE: You may need to verify that the resource you check is "send to kindle enabled."

You know...I just don't get this feature at all. What am I missing?? I am wishing to have my 1000+ Kindle books in LOGOS while hundreds are replying to a post about pushing Logos books into Kindle (and 1000s are reading about it). I must be clueless on this one. LOL Just don't get it.
Whats all the hype here?

Thanks Arnold, but I get that. Its WHY anyone would want to do that that baffles me. Logos is far superior to Kindle in every way. I couldn't imagine desiring to push a Logos book to Kindle. Thats what I was saying. I completely understand the functionality. Its just the rationale that makes no sense.

Because it's really difficult to run Logos on an e-Ink display, and e-Ink displays are vastly superior than LCD/OLED displays in many scenarios.

I am proud to be an apple snob. I love my Macs and iOS devices. I also love having (most) all my books in my Logos library, but I believe in the right tool for the right job.
I will differentiate READING from STUDYING. It is a technical difference, and I most often use the word "reading" when speaking of both. When I want to consume a book on family ministry, I want to STUDY it... so I highlight and take notes. I want those to be in my Logos library. The best experience for THAT function is to consume the book on my iPad. BUT...
The best "reading" experience is on a device like a kindle paper white (eInk). It is closer to paper, the device is smaller, it has ONE function... to be read. It is SUPERIOR to the iPad for its primary function... "reading." It also helps greatly with eye strain. Staring at backlit screens all day it is nice to have a break.
So if I want to "read" a book and "study" it, I use the Logos app for iOS. It is superior for that function... but when I want to "read" for pleasure, and don't need to have notes/highlights, I use my paper white. I can't stress how much I genuinely love both devices. But there is a "right" tool for the job and I use it.

I'm not getting that option. What I get is this. As you can see it says devices and I have the option to manage devices, but not to download to kindle as I see you do. When I click on manage devices I'm sent to the website and I see that my kindle is connected. Any ideas? Thanks.
If you follow the instructions (see link),..that is all you have to do!

The very first post in this thread (SEE HERE) explains what "send to kindle" is about and how to set it up. Did you follow the instructions? If you are still having troubles, it might be best to create a new thread, explain your issue clearly (including steps taken), and provide adequate details.
Also note: Not every resource is "send to kindle" enabled. Three possible reasons:

Is this feature continuing for new publications? As new releases of the Concordia Commentary come out, they no longer show the "Send To Kindle" feature after months have gone by even though they are smaller and have the same support info. They used to come out in a timely, orderly manner. One of the reasons I upgraded was for this feature.

When I entered the command I was informed that my account was linked but when I tried to send a book to Kindle I see an error message (in red) informing me that there was an "Error connecting to Send to Kindle service."
Could be some server side issues seeing as how the logos.com website is not responding very well right now.
This feature does work for the resources that allow it. If you own a Kindle this is a great feature. I use an iPad so can already read Logos books on that device.

I have been looking forward to this. I use an iPad as well but when I go to the beach I would rather take my $59 Kindle than my $600 iPad.
I was concerned that the instructions said once we linked the account it could not be undone. Have I cemented erroneous information to my account?
You can double check your logs to see what kindle address is associated with the account.
I'm planning on running some tests on the "lock in" later but for now I'm positive that CS can fix it if need be.
Donn,
The first part of the chain as I understand it relies upon the Logos servers to send the data. With the servers being hammered right now, there may be delays in the internet based "stuff".
I think there is a size limit of 50MB. Check if the resource you are trying to send does not exceed this limit
