Anticipating His Arrival: A Devotional for the Advent Season
Hi folks.
About five years ago, I wrote an Advent devotional for my church (pdf here: http://www.supakoo.com/rick/AdventReadings.pdf). That was based on the Year C weekly Advent readings from the Revised Common Lectionary, though I structured it such that it could be used any year.
I wanted to write another, so I did. Advent 2014 begins year B in the lectionary reading cycle, so these readings are based on the Year B weekly Advent readings from the Revised Common Lectionary.
I made a Word doc that can be compiled as a PBB. Note that this is not a calendar based devotional, and I have not added lectionary-specific functionality. I will probably make a PDF version and post it on my personal web site sometime before Thanksgiving.
[If someone out there feels they need to lectionary-ify the word doc, then go right ahead. Please just post the result in this thread so others can have the opportunity to use it too.]
My reason for doing this was to have some pretty easy family devotions over the Advent season. After each day's reading (the text is the LEB) there are 2-3 questions about the readings. Don't worry, I give suggested answers too. This isn't rocket science; I was just looking for an easy thing to read and talk about in 5-10 minutes after dinner each night, or maybe as I was putting the kids to bed.
