Allow Partial Library Downloads in Desktop App
The larger a library gets the harder it is to use on the popular limited Windows-based devices now selling in response to the Chromebook craze. We get two kinds of devices, Windows tablets that run full Windows with only 16 or 32 GB of solid state storage (SSD) and we are now seeing Windows Chromebook-style computers (call them Netbook 2.0) with limited storage. These usually offer an SD card slot, but Logos doesn't run well on an SD card.
Solution: Let users only download the basic books the program must have to run plus their favorites. For example, I could run with just my top 5 commentaries, books, dictionaries, devotionals etc. That would mean a 10% download or so of my library allowing me to get the best of Logos 6 on my Windows device while not having to fight with the limited storage of the device.

The option to store library resources to one storage volume, i.e. microSDXC in this case, and have indexes on a different storage volume, i.e. the primary SSD, would allow various storage hardware to be used more effectively. Most library resources are stable only changing when updated. MicroSD cards are well suited for storing these basically read only files. Building indexes is a read and write modify intense process for which microSD cards are not optimally designed.
Of course both of the preceding library software architectures, LLS & LDLS, provided for this type of flexible configuration of storage. Beginning with Logos 4 unlimited capacity of the primary storage device seems to be presumed.

Addition to reasons:
- Cellular. I literally delete hundreds of volumes in my Logos library (loosing that awesome search Logos loves to brag about) just to escape their updates. I'm not poor; I just can't afford their mindlessness.
This week I added to my Accordance library. I carefully chose which volumes I wanted. (That was before I destroyed my PC Accordance installation.)
And this week I also expanded my stable of Kindle devices. Again carefully choosing what should go on which one.
Actually, after the L6 upgrade, I'm really calculating on running without a Logos desktop. The functionalities are getting progressively more difficult to use. I don't need desktops for OliveTree or Accordance. Maybe dump the Logos desktop and save some dinero.

Agreed, I too depend on a tethered cellular connection and exceeding the data cap is unthinkably expensive. Thankfully the Faithlife Android apps work very well and there is no data cap for the phone.

What I've envisioned for this solution is a sort of "master library" which would be accessed on our user page on FaithLife.com. The interface would be much like the desktop library with all the sorting/collections/filtering options found there. In the "Devices" section on the info tab, instead of listing only one's mobile devices (as seen on desktop), one would also see all desktop installations and would have the ability to send to any/all installations desired.
One addition to this "Master" library would be a "Hidden Resources Collection" allowing a user to actually manage hidden resources. The current hidden resources method makes it completely impractical to try to manage those resources. Even finding a particular volume can be a daunting task if one has hundreds of hidden resources (think perseus).
