Bible Look Up not working since update

Since updating to latest iOS update on both my iPad and iPhone whenever I am in a bible (I tried both ESV and NKJV), and I select a word from the text to "Look Up" it only now pulls on the system dictionary in iOS, not the Logos Hebrew/Greek word and the possibility to search that word in the Bible Word Study. Please help! I am connected online in both devices.

As you know, "look up" as you describe depends upon Internet... It also depends upon the Logos servers. If you are still having trouble:
- have you tried deleting the resource from your device? (Making sure your resource is up to date)
- have you restarted your device?
- when did you do a fresh install last?
- have you checked multiple words or are you stuck on one?

Great questions! Thanks for your help.
(1) Yes I have done this.
(2) Yes, restarted on both.
(3) On my phone, I did a fresh install about 2 weeks ago.
(4) Yes, multiple words.
What is odd, is I just "Looked Up" a word, since I saw your post, and it worked correctly one time, then I tried multiple other words, and it didn't work again (this happened on both devices).
What is odd to me is how both devices started having the same issues at the same time.
Hmmmm....

I had intermittent problems at church this morning, but it was hard to tell if it was the Internet there or the servers at FL.
How long have you noticed the problem?

Just today so far.

Let us know if it persists. Like I said, I couldn't tell if my issues were FL server related.

Same thing for me too. All I need is to be told that the verb walk means to put one foot in front of the other. This same problem occurred some months ago on the iPad but later they fixed it.
Longtime Logos user (more than $30,000 in purchases) - now a second class user because I won't pay them more every month or year.

On the Bible app it is happening to me as well, but in the Verbum app it is not.

Some words in the Verbum app are working correctly for me on lookup while others are just returning a standard dictionary lookup

I am having the same problem. The only "look up" is in an English dictionary. Not useful.

interesting. I am using verbum for testing purposes which may explain my results above.

Seems to be affecting the Android apps as well - https://community.logos.com/forums/t/101934.aspx - so likely some problem at the Faithlife end

We're taking a look at the Word Lookup issue now - it's unrelated to the app version update.

Sorry to hear that.
Some questions:
- Do you have a good Internet connection?
- Does it work with any words / any resources or not just with some?
- Did it use to work fine?
- Can you post a screenshot showing the problem?

Not working for me, using ipad and NASB everything worked perfectly until recently. I have only added to the library, and the Internet connection is perfect no trouble with other apps or downloads,

It is still not working on either of my iOS devices. I have closed apps, rebooted, etc.

I am having the same problem on my iPad. I get the list of lexical sources but no translation or examples

It seems to work well in Greek and Hebrew texts, but not in English texts.

We're aware of the issue and are taking another look, sorry for the trouble.

I am having the same problem. Tried several versions ESV, NKJV, etc.
Also noticed that I was having difficulty choosing just one word.
i.e. In Philippians 3:2 I tried selecting "circumcision" and it selected "the circumcision"
In 1 Thessalonians 2:4 I tried to select "entrusted" and it selected "to be entrusted"

Yes I also noticed this problem as well, Stan. I believe it has to do with the "Smart selection" option that the latest version of the app added. It looks like this version of the app also turns on this feature by default. I've noticed that it's hard to select one word often for a word lookup with this feature turned on. You can easily turn it off like I did in the view settings pane of the app.

Hey it actually seems to be working for me now! Looks like things are back to normal! Anyone else still having problems with it?

If you double-tap a word it will select just that word, even with Smart Selection turned on.

Hey nice trick, Kevin. I just tried this out and it works great!Kevin Byford said:If you double-tap a word it will select just that word, even with Smart Selection turned on.

I was having the same issue, however, when I toggled off "scrolling view" it seemed to work normal. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Just so you know, View settings (scrolling or not) are unrelated to whether or not Word Lookup gives expected results.

Must have been a coincidence.

My individual iPhone 5 word "look up" still not working properly like it use to. Doesn't seem to go to the dictionary as much as it use to but still groups words with the blue adjustable lines instead of a single word. Compared it to my Logos 6 version on my laptop to see which words are actually in the text and the iPhone 5 app still fails to function properly. It is now un trustworthy. What next? Should I reinstall on the iPhone? Robert

Welcome! [:)]
Sorry you are having troubles. [:s]
Robert Bounds said:My individual iPhone 5 word "look up" still not working properly like it use to. Doesn't seem to go to the dictionary as much as it use to
"Look up" should go to the dictionary 1) when you are offline and have downloaded a dictionary (this is an iOS function, not a Logos one) OR 2) when you are online, using a non-reverse interlinear resource. If you own a reverse interlinear for a resource such as the ESV, "look up" will take you to original language resources associated with the RI.

Either I don't understand what you are saying, or I don't understand your use of the word "still." A new feature of the current app is "smart selection." I have it turned off. See view settings (Aa icon)

It is possible you have an out of date resource. Please delete the bible from your device. Try using the resource "in the cloud." See if things are working properly. Then you can redownload.

If you select more than one word and run look up, you will get results for all the words. Swipe to see other results. This can also happen if there isn't a one-to-one mapping between the English and original language words.

Now my iPad's look up doesn't find English words. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, but still same results.

Can you be a bit more specific?
- Which resource are you using
- Which word are you attempting to look up0 -

I was trying to perform a Look Up on the word "holy" in Logos iOS app. It does not work, but brings up the default dictionary on my iPad.
This is working as designed. To get greek/hebrew information Look Up must be run from text selected within a Bible.

For clarification:
- It must be a bible with a reverse interlinear license attached and owned.
- Internet must be working.
