Homer - text and commentary jumping
For some reason the (Bloomsbury Academic Homer Collection) is swapping Greek text and commentary. I have in my layout different commentaries open on Homer's Iliad and linked to the Greek text in another panel. However, when I scroll in the Greek text or a commentary other commentaries suddenly become Greek text (by the same author). Then I have to open the commentary again. Very frustrating. Is this a bug?

Hi Patrick, I tried moving around in my copy of the Bloomsbury Homer text, but I didn't have any problems with the automatic scrolling between resources. Perhaps you could be more specific about which exact texts/commentaries.
I did note, however, that there is no morph tagging in the Homer text (Homer. (1996). Homer: Iliad Books I–XII: Text. (M. M. Willcock, Ed.). London: Bristol Classical Press.). This is an oversight and should be fixed, given that there is morph tagging in the other Bristol/Bloomsbury Greek texts.

I am scrolling in Peter Jones' commentary on Iliad from Iliad 1.66 to 1.69 and then Wilcock's and commentariy become the text. Harrison & Jordan's commentary became text when I scrolled from Iliad 1.91 to 1.92.

Ah yes, I can confirm. Scrolling through these commentaries when linked together does very strange things. It shouldn't switch to the Greek like that.
My guess is that there are some milestone errors somewhere in there..

(Incidentally, if you're reading through the Iliad in Greek with the commentaries and would like to read it together using logos/faithlife community notes, I would be very happy to participate! )

In other words, we should report it to someone? But to who?

In my experience the Noet people react fairly well to forum posts.
The other tactic I've tried is leaving poor ratings on the resource in question, and then removing the poor rating when they fix the problem. I don't really know if my poor rating has any effect on the Logos staff, but it makes me feel better.

That said, I never heard back from anyone at Faithlife about the Latin OCR problems I reported earlier. It looks like Latin and Augustine aren't a priority, perhaps Homer will fair better?

I am going to take a look at this today. My hunch--and it's just a hunch--is that based off the resources you are listing, the trailing commentary (i.e. the commentary that "follows" the commentary that you are scrolling) lacks milestones that the leading commentary possesses. Because the trailing commentary is linked to its text via metadata the app switches from the commentary to the text in order to find a matching milestone.

My initial suspicion was correct. I was able to change this behavior by adjusting some of the series metadata.
It appears to be correctly scrolling while linked now. Please let me know if you find any other troubles.

This was an oversight. I've updated the resource. You'll seen an updated resource in about a week.

Thanks very much!!
1. I suppose I have to wait till I get the updates?
2. It also happens in the Odyssey bundle. Again, I am reading Peter Jones commentary and then the linked commentaries by Stanford and Watson jump to their texts.

- No. It should be working now. Please let me know if it isn't working correctly. I was able to replicate the behavior you described but was unable to do so after my metadata update. This leads me to believe it's fixed but I might not be accounting for all behavior.
- Thanks for the heads up. I should be able to make the same changes there.

Thanks Kyle, I had no frustrations today!
