Moravian Daily Texts / Watchwords / Losungen 2016
This post is somewhat a continuation of this old thread - but as the info in that thread changed over the course of time and may be somewhat confusing, I started this new one.
Ludwig von Zinzendorf invented the world's most popular daily devotional some nearly three hundred years back - and it has remained influential in the protestant world, published uninterrupted even by wars and revolutions since then (the bookseller organisations in Germany took it out from their counting as to not be embarrassed seeing a small Christian book selling at topmost position every year).
Some years back, in 1980, it was even celebrated with a postage stamp - which is good since it makes for a copyright-free book cover:
Today, the Moravian church still publishes this book - see for
- North America: http://www.moravian.org
- the UK: http://www.moravian.org.uk/index.php/information/daily-watchwords
- Germany: http://losungen.de
The German site is currently the only one that has the texts and bible verses for download, which I used to create a PB source: 7802.Losungen 2016.docx
If you already use the current version of it, just add the new file and build again. Otherwise, some instructions may be in order:
- Include the picture if you wish, and the 2016 file (to use it today or tomorrow, it might be a good idea to include the 2015 file as well:5850.die losungen - add on 2015.docx )
- Build as type Lectionary - this will ensure dynamic text displays in the bible of your choice
- Build in language German - this is needed for the bible references to work
- prioritize the finished book as highest-prioritized lectionary
Your Logos homepage may show this as this:
and the book looks like this:
(note that the homepage shows the preferred/ highest prioritized version, which for me is currently the NIV 84, whereas in the resource itself you can choose any bible in the orange-boxed selection )
Hope this helps!
