This was addressed previously, but still no fix.
(Just keeping the fire stoked.)
Highlighting has always been supported in scrolling view, so can you please give a few more details (cf. https://community.logos.com/forums/t/118697.aspx ).? Please see this screencast: https://monosnap.com/file/9lxtVR5WXTCQK73KGo9QCoCXBigZbO .
I have this problem, but its inconsistent. It works in one part of a book, but not another. When it doesn't work, I temporarily get a loupe, but it disappears quickly. No amount of tapping, holding, or dragging can make it reappear or get a menu.
What about rotating the device or turning on/off scrolling view?
Kevin, we've already done threads on this, and I provided details, including sending a bug report (or whatever you call it) from my iPad. There was no resolution.
Like Ben says, it is intermittent, but it is real.
And really irritating. I've given up hope of it being fixed [:(]

I need more details than what you have given before since I am unable to reproduce this. We don't have every available Apple Device in-house to test with. Please see https://community.logos.com/forums/t/118697.aspx for what makes good bug report.
When it happened the first time, you told me to turn off scrolling view, and I did, and it worked. I can always select in page view. Your comment that scrolling view has always supported text selection is ironic, considering you are the one who told me to not use scrolling view. But then, if it wasn't supposed to be supported, we wouldn't have an issue, would we?
In any case, I've provided the best information that I can.
Others are also experiencing the problem, are are as frustrated as I am; perhaps some of them can give you better information than I.

Just tried it again (turned on scrolling mode); highlighted a word, was able to grab the left handle and drag, but as soon as I touched the right handle, the entire selection disappeared.
EDIT: Ignore info below...I just now saw this post- https://community.logos.com/forums/p/115111/783428.aspx#783428
Also, here's a screenshot of how close the popup is to the left handle, showing why more than half the time, I can't grab the handle without activating a menu choice.

That's good to hear. When I asked "If you turn Scrolling View off does the issue still occur?" you answered "With scrolling view off, the behavior is normal (I can select the text)." ( https://community.logos.com/forums/p/115111/761632.aspx#761632 ). I asked the question to try to narrow the issue down since I was unable to reproduce it.

Did I tell you "to not use scrolling view"? I'm having a hard time finding that one (please correct me if I'm wrong). What I did say is "Highlighting has always been supported in scrolling view..." ( https://community.logos.com/forums/p/119266/783362.aspx#783362 ) and that's absolutely true. Being supported doesn't mean a feature is 100% absolutely bug-free but that when a bug is found we are committed to fixing it.
Thanks for all of the detailed information, best I've ever seen.!
Just a guess, but I expect you did not actually hit the target on the right handle in this scenario but missed it. If so, this will dismiss the selection - by design. Not by Faithlife's design, but by Apple's design. This is exactly how every standard Apple iOS app should work, according to Apple.
This is already fixed in version 5.1 development builds as I've mentioned here (with screenshots): https://community.logos.com/forums/p/115111/783428.aspx#783428 .
Can you share a specific example of a part of a book where this happens? I'm having a hard time reproducing this.
I have similar problems. I struggle to be precise enough to select text consistently. It's worth noting two points, however:
Mark,
This issue is already fixed in the 5.1 beta. https://community.logos.com/forums/p/115111/783428.aspx#783428 .
I'm running the beta. I just have fat fingers and good eyesight [:)] — but as you say, that's an iPhone problem, not a Logos problem.
I was finally able to reproduce this issue (but I can't reproduce it a second time): https://monosnap.com/file/RKx5diDo71jVV2Rj2Z9pal1EvtbfJD
A screen rotation appears to fix the problem, which is a clue for the dev team. Hopefully we can finally get this one fixed.!

Good to hear! Happy about this first step [:)]
Kevin,
I am also having intermittent problems highlighting text in the scroll view.
I have reported this multiple times in the iOS app. Not sure if you all are acting upon them.
Basically, I find that sometimes when I scroll down, and then go back to highlight some text, the highlighting just stops working. You can "press" and "hold," but nothing happens.
I have to restart the app to get highlighting working again.
Hope this helps.
David
the highlighting just stops working
I experience this from time to time.
You mean that you send "support info"? It is probably best to create a new thread, explain the issue, and then reference the thread in the support info email you send in.
