videos automatically starting (bug).
in the last couple of updates or so in in courses - when I start a video, it plays okay, but when it completes, it seems to automatically start the next one. this should not be happening.. is there a new setting that I missed or something?

New setting. And a blessing from Heaven above.
Honestly, this should have been a function of the player since day one, but, hey, at least we have it now!
Came with the last update. Not sure how to turn it off.

not a blessing for me. I need it off. after each video in the course, I then read and use read aloud for all the suggested and extra readings before I move to the next video. even for classes that I "know", i don't just watch the videos. sometimes I will even go back over the transcript of the video as well, before moving on to the next.

I'm experiencing the same issue. I just click the pause button.

I agree! Logos, please give us the option at least to turn this "feature" off. Thank you.

I postulated that this was a bug when it appeared with the recent Easter course ... it is particularly jarring when viewing a 'compilation' course.
I cannot understand how it made it out of Beta without somebody acknowledging that it needs an off switch!
But then neither can I understand what the point of it is ... as if I cannot press play at need! ... when the default would naturally be exploring the additional resources. To be honest, IMHO, the additional resource links are a greater part of the value of the videos. The videos themselves tend to be fairly short introductions ... which is exactly as the should be ... if we are then given time to study the resources ... but to set the default to 'no reading' and then not provide an alternative!
I think of so many poorly implemented, unfinished aspects of Logos ... reading plans, citations tool, highlighting, notes vs. clippings etc. ... all fundamental ... all unfinished ... for features like this ...

I would prefer it if I could switch this off, too. I very rarely watch more than one video in one sitting. It's completely broken when viewing videos full-screen, too: Bug: Auto-advance breaks when viewing videos at full-screen

How are you accessing the videos, from the video files, or from the video at the beginning of each segment?
Are you viewing them on the desktop or from a mobile platform?
I view the video at the beginning of each segment and I am not seeing this behavior. It just plays the video them stops. I use them on my laptop.

On the desktop, using the Courses tool.

i don't use the courses tool.
I use a two monitor layout. On one screen I have the course transcript and beside it is the video screen. Then I use the other monitor for the course readings.
Maybe it is a bug in the courses tool.

I run them from the library ... open the resource and click on the relevant video.
I find that the courses tool on the home page only shows 3 courses ... and rarely what I want!

The Courses Tool is a nice Logos Now feature that allows you do see the video and transcript in the same window:

Thanks, all, for the feedback. The default for our media resources used to be not to auto-advance. We could add a trait to a resource to set it to auto-advance by default. Once we started doing more audio books, this started to get tedious. Auto-advance is the right default for audio books, and it may be the right default for videos that are part of a unit, where there's no corresponding material to go along with it. But it doesn't seem to be the right default for courses. Unfortunately, we don't have that level of granularity in our default controls.
We plan to add a trait to all courses so they don't auto-advance, and we plan also to add a setting in the video player so you can change the default if you don't like it.

Just curious...no hurry...any idea when this might be developed?

Adding the trait shouldn't take long—just a hour or so once someone can carve out time for it. I'll see if we can prioritize it this week.
The other feature might take a little longer. Might be possible for 6.11, but might need to wait for 6.12 (since 6.11 development is supposed to be finished by now). I'll check, though.
