There is little to no Christian content, except for setting a backdrop - but there are a few lovely quotes in it:
"Of all the passions which have ever called into action the tongue, the pen, or the sword, which have overturned the throne, and shaken the altar to its base, ambition is the first and mightiest. It uses crime as a means, virtue as a mask. It respects nothing sacred, and yet it has recourse to that which is most beloved, because the most secure, that of all held most sacred by man,—Religion."
"Religious fanaticism is continually accused by history as the fomenter of those sanguinary wars which have desolated kingdoms, and convulsed states; nevertheless, religion has scarcely ever been the end, but merely the instrument, of ambitious policy and untameable lust of power."

I recently read "Among the Turks" in Logos.
It was a great read from the 1860s of developments in the area of Turkey and the realities of missionary life there.
Toward the end, I was interested in this quote: "The boasted revival of Islam in Wahabeism may cause some political troubles, but otherwise is of no value. It is a natural reaction against liberalizing tendencies." Interesting how long-lived things are that seem so current to us.
