Hi Bradley, thanks for the new beta and custom highlighting styles! I know that's going to make a lot of people happy.
I'm wondering why some of the "known issues" have been around for several beta releases without getting fixed. Can we expect these to be fixed in a future 4.0b beta or is the fix so complex that it will have to wait for 4.0c? This one in particular has been around since 4.0b Beta 3 and is pretty unpleasant:
- Pasting text into a note loses all paragraph formatting

Updated two installs of beta 6 fine, no problems. But the bug I reported that one machine still has an old version of PericopeSets.lbspsd was not resolved, the old version is still there. I wish I knew how to get it updated!

Ran it in Administrator mode and that solved my problem. =]

What Rosie said ... mega-thanks for the custom Highlighting with this Beta drop! 'Tis greatly appreciated, Bradley! Downloaded and installed swiftly and smoothly!
I can edit this, no problem, but thought I'd post a pic of how the Highlight feature imported one of my Libronix3 Custom Palettes with bold, kind of overkill so to speak, by a mile or two. [;)].
Thanks again, Bradley, you and the Logos4 Beta team, for
all your collective hard work in getting these Betas dropped so close
together with the Bug fixes and feature additions. I don't think I
can emphasize the "Thank Yous!" enough! Here's the pic, FYI, no biggie (this Custom Palette was for a special project, so it wasn't like I ended up with emboldened type sprinkled from Genesis to Revelation in my preferred Bible on import a while back, which is why I didn't catch it before):

That one has actually been around since the private 4.0 beta. I think I added it to the Release Notes because someone was reporting it as a bug with each new beta release (but maybe I'm confusing it with another bug). I have no estimated date/release for it being fixed.
I haven't looked into that one specifically, but my gut reaction is to assume that it (like anything having to deal with formatted text, particularly editing it) is complex.

I really like the way the "search while typing" works now - Much much better.

I have experimented with exporting Collections with the new menu option, but there are still some formatting bugs. When I export to html, there are no line breaks between entries. When I export to rtf and import to Word, I am asked to select the encoding that will make my document readable, and none of the options seems to remove the formatting at the top ({\rtf1\ansi{\fonttbl{\f0\froman Times New Roman;}}{\stylesheet {\snext0 Normal;}}\fet0\uc1) and throughout the document. Export to txt seems to work all right.

Yes, I had this problem with the RTF format too. Like it's missing something that tells Word it's an RTF file.
The bibliography is also not sorted. I'm hoping this is just a first cut at this feature.

RE Creating Custom Highlighter Palettes
Creating Custom Palettes and adding Custom Styles works just fine, no bugs thus far. One request.
Can we have an option to Copy only added to the Inductive (and all) Palette options? No edit or delete option on the standard L4 Highlighter Palettes for obvious potential mini-disaster reasons. But a Copy option would save starting from scratch when all we need/want to do is make a few additions or subtractions to an existing Palette - EDIT: to a RENAMED COPY of an existing Palette - especially the Inductive Palette ... assuming it wouldn't require a time-consuming volume of coding, of course.
Thanks!

Updated automatically. Tested highlighting and search by typing. Both work as advertised, and search by typing may actually be useful now without that other box always popping up. Highlighting just became even more useful.
More good work, thank you very much.

Thanks Bradley and team for the quick fix on the NA27 and BHS bug....
And thanks for the screenshot in the release notes.

Any plans to fix the bug that stops the text to speech function when the arrow keys are pressed?

Excellent - thanks for the custom highlighting!

That (and a number of other bugs/features) is on our list of improvements for Read Aloud, but it is not planned as part of the 4.0b release.

In the highlighting tool experiment with right clicks... it's in those menu options.

Chris, try right clicking in the highlighting window and select Create a new palette or Create a new style from the pop-up menu.

Could you propose a filename for the export, which would be the name of the collection (extension depending on what filetype is chosen in the dropdown), so we don't have to type it in again? We could add "Bibliography" to it ourselves or something if we want, but the default should be the collection name. Otherwise, great feature. Thanks for adding this!

I am having trouble creating a border around a highlight and changing the text font.
Here is the customization screen. In the Borders and Lines section note the lack of a line under the word 'text' and note that my sample shows no border even though I have specified one. If I click OK and try to use the hightlight all I get is the higlighting, no change in font nor a border.

Mark, you have to click on the line where you want the border to appear. I would
Thanks for pushing me back to look at that. Actually I had tried that. I have discovered the problem, however. I didn't select a line width, ergo no line appears.
I suggest that Logos label the little arrow that controls line width in some way so no one else gets konfused like me.

Forgot that there is a second problem. The font does not change in the highlighted text to Default Sans Serif as it is supposed to.

Is it just me or are the betas getting progressively slower. Menus are taking longer to come up than 4.0a. The response time for typing is worse too.

Steve, for me, I am finding exactly the opposite, each beta has been snappier/smoother. But I have seen some others that have echoed your findings.

Yep! noticing the same thing - slower less responsive. I am assuming it is the addition of new features that have not yet been optimized.

I'm noticing more appreciable lags in autoscroll as well. When I try to autoscroll it pauses and then jumps five or so lines, pauses and jumps, pauses and jumps...
Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.

That is really interesting - I'm seeing the reverse. The first betas for 4.0b were the fastest I experienced on my system since 4.0 was released. Now mundane tasks like opening menus and such are really sluggish. I tried turning off my tablet features, thinking the tablet performance bug was back, but that had no effect.

I have always had issues (on my P4 one core) with the scroll bar. I've never timed these things, but I "feel" that it is "slower" lately.

Quite amazing. I was getting frustrated with B5 in particular & performance and response are back to normal with B7.
I was getting a lot of "not responding" and small black windows in my test system running Windows 7. Now it has settled down.

I'd just like to agree with everyone here. My L4 is slugglish and slow, except when it's not. During those times it's snappy and responsive.

I did. I figured a smiley face would take away from it's comedic value. [:D]

Could the size of RAM be a factor? If there isn't enough RAM available, additional functionality can actually slow down the program. L4 was extremely slow on 1GB RAM. Adding another 1GB RAM improved the speed considerably.

Good thought David - that would definately produce these sorts of symptoms. Alas, I have plenty. I monitor that and my system with Logos running is taking about 60% of the available memory.
