The belief that God created the world is foundational for Christians. However, the exact nature of God’s work in creation is debated. In this course, six leading Old Testament scholars present the distinct features and biblical bases of their particular views:
- Joseph A. Pipa Jr.—Six-Day Creation
- Mark D. Futato—Literary Framework
- C. John Collins—Analogical Days View
- Tremper Longman III—Evolutionary Creationism
- John H. Walton—Identity Accounts
- James B. Jordan—Creation by Faith
As they unpack the meaning and significance of the creation account, they discuss topics like hermeneutics, the genre of Genesis 1, the nature of the days in the creation week, ancient Near Eastern backgrounds and ancient cosmology, the relationship between the Bible and science, and the theological implications these various views have for the believer. For what it is worth, John MacArthur has a book in Logos called Battle for the Beginning that deals with taking Genesis as a literal 6 days. Good book and I'd be a good consideration for your readings in my opinion.

Still would like an answer to this question. If the answer is "no", then you really ought to find a credible advocate of GT. The arguments against GT that I have seen are fragile, feeble, and extraordinarily overconfident. I don't advocate GT, but I would like to see a strong promotion of it that addresses some of the supposed refutations of it.

I'm not super well-versed on the Gap Theory, but from what I understand it's no long common among biblical scholars. None of the speakers in this course are proponents of it. I'm not sure if any of them interact with it or not though.
